@askadetra@askadetra Unfortunately, you are TOTALLY MISTAKEN! Every track in this set is made by Detroit Artist, be they born and raised or transplanted. @askadetra this has nothing to do with me liking your opinion. It does have to do with Facts, and the fact is (which can be proven) that this Detroit style has a nucleus of it's own, that does not owe a penny to Chicago. You are loco to think otherwise. And since you accept you are no expert, leave the 'definitions' to those that do know the facts..and those that spin - mix the music. Which I have been doing since 1988. Peace to D-town.

mixit313 is the TRUTH. Those of us who shopped at BuyRITE know. School these cats man. This time in the D is timeless for us that partied then. Thanks brother, I needed this shyt tonight.
Yes. You never ever get this stuff around these parts. I mean, while Detroit has its undeniable, early, whiter-than-white Central European avant-garde synthesis influences...what gives it its scathing kick is blacker than black, as usual. All of the historians tell me that's because of Chicago House influence; I don't buy that, because while it's clearly an influence, even this early stuff is obviously far removed from that party culture. And again, it's seen even across the Pond. ;)
I was there from the jump (began spinning in 1985). Almost every DJ that grew up in the 80's got their influence from "THE ELECTRIFYING MOJO". Mojo played good music, no matter the genre. You could hear Prince, Kraftwerk, B-52's, Funkadelic, Blondie, Gary Numan, and Devo within one hour. The Detroit Auto Industry also had and alot to do with the influence of Detroit Music. My father worked at Ford Motor Company from 1967 to 2007. In the 70's, I remember him talking of robots replacing
Question:. I am sure you know the answer. There was a song that use to come on the radio in in the D. I have no idea what the name of it was but it was an instrumental only. It was like a Chineese instrumental. They use to play it all the time. It kinda reminded me of "Beyond the clouds", but that wasnt it. If I remeber correct. The disc jockey use to say the name of the song was Chineese something. IDK , Thanks in advance if you can help. I know you got that shit. designmyphotos@gmail.com
@SICKwititGRAPHXS I bet you are talking about Firecracker (we used to call it Chinese Firecracker) by Yellow Magic Orchestra. I got it in a mix that i'm gonna post on line.
@mixit313 Yup right again. Firecracker. I couldnt remember the name of that for shit! lol Hellava job naming these songs without hearing me sing them., lol . I'm from the D as well. Henry Ford class of 87. I use to pass by Proffessional Records everyday and stop in there just to see what I was buying for the weekend.
@mixit313 I got one more song I know you know who makes this song. The name of the song is "It's all over". The song would keep repeating, " Its all over , its all over, its all over between me and you". I had bought the record when it came out but I cant remember who made it. But it was definitely a hit when it came out so I am sure you got it!
@SICKwititGRAPHXS That's a Chicago track on Underground Records called All Over by Fingers inc. The dub version was my junk back in the day. the flip was kind of a remake of "let no man put asunder by first choice".
@mixit313 You batt'en 1000 G. lol That was it! Damm good lookin out! That was the last song on my list. Ok how bout this. We bout the same age so I am sure you use to go over to the "Rock n talk" in Canada ,back in the day. Let me hear you kick some of that shit!

Way to keep the D on the map. They always hollering that Chicago shit, when everybody that was there know that the D is where it started and the D is what got it KRANKED! They was stuck on that deep house, most of the time it was too fuckin deep. Dont get me wrong they got some hits but not the top 5 hits of all time in my book. That's all D! I dont have to name shit. Mix 313 played at least 3 of them.
Ahh Detriot. The birthplace of techno. On behalf of every raver in the UK and Ireland can I just say a massive massive thank you. Juan Atkins & Eddie Fowlkes are legends
@TheAntonioOcana No secret spot. I started DJing in Detroit when I was 15 (1984). These are the original tracks purchased when they originally hit the shelves. I'v been buying records since I was 12 years old. These were purchased at Buyrite, Chaunceys, Record Time, Detroit Audio, Damons, and there was one more record store in the 80s on 7 mile and evergreen i used to frequent, but i forgot the name of it.
@askadetra Technically, since technically Techno was not invented yet, however, the Detroiter that coined the term "Techno" was the lead in the group Cybotron, so it fits.
@mixit313 cybotron may coined the term techno, in other words cybotron may gave the techno name to the new genre that is a hybrid of electro, chicago house, funk, hi-nrg and synthpop, but it doesn't mean that the track clear by cybotron is techno, right?

what a terrible sound, do something about the recording, it is mono that goes to left speaker only and lacks bass. Btw beatmatching is better done without touching the vinyl and plate. Use the pitch, Technics is a perfect machine, trust the controls and focus on touching the mixer instead :)
@waclosh@waclosh - Save the criticism Where are your vids? This man (along with myself and every other DJ from our era) grew up spinning records featuring live drummers (not a perfectly timed drum machine) on belt drive turntables. If you were lucky, you had Technics SLd series direct drive turntable. Lets see yo azz match beats on those bad boys. 1200's are the same price now as they were 30 years ago. Back then, 500 bucks was a fortune to pay for turntables. Now everyone has them.
@LMGHouston I dont have them, but I use them regularly at parties and at my mate's studio. I own a set of cheap belt drive decks and that has taught me a lot about beatmatching.
@LMGHouston yeah, it rocks, not that it has anything to do with my comment or with music in general. That makes me wonder why you brought it up? Does my lame 100000 km video make my comment on djing irrelevant? If yes, explain why.
@messthetics maaan, my skoda is so awesome it can beatmatch in less than a second, cuz it has manual transmission. But that car doesnt have anything to do with me being better in beatmatching than you.
@waclosh Post a video of you showing off your skills then, if you post one for you car doing a certain amount of miles surely you can post one of you mixing better than this G.
I've never understood this dislike of touching the platter. As a DJ you should apply whatever technique works for you and as long as the crowd is satisfied then it's appropriate. Pitch riding is all well and good (especially when it comes to massaging your own ego) but if you are chopping and changing tracks as quickly as this dude is then unless you're a Jedi it's a bit impractical. Pitch riding is better suited to long transitions and when you have more time to refine the tempo.
big fuckin props to you dude. i just bought cdjs after being a vinyl dj from the start and am starting to miss my 1200s just sitting in the corner . thinking of investing money and continue buying records. great mix and dope oldskool technique
Love this thanks , I live in greenville sc but from detroit and i need this in my life and went 2 school with derrick may , he would come 2 school and come in the lunch room play some there songs and the same night MOJO would play it , that was just crazy!!
Great clip. Dig the Detroit mix. Looking for a mix maybe you can help me. The chorus is "she said if you want to be her friend you got to stick it in". They used to play it on The Scene and 107.5 all the time.
AHHHHHH NOTHING LIKE DETROIT TECH. GOTTA LUV IT. U ABOUT TO MAKE ME GO DO THE WATTS MOZAMBIQUE ON THE WIFE. LOL. DAMN THE MORE I LISTEN U DA SHIT. I WANT SOME OF THESE MIXES FOR MYSELF . IMA CHECK YOUR SITE
can you name some of the industrial traxxx that lisa lisa and JLB favored in the 90's....damn bro, dedicated....303 808 alll day.......look up acacia records...jholy shit you are playing the d classics.....keep that vinyl it made house possible..............you are RICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!brothaaaaaa@#$%$
@mixit313 I too remember Buy Rite on 7 mile and Livernois. That was the place to get all the records! Just watch the dj spin and hear what you want and get it off the rack by the numbers!! Those were the days! Before I moved to Miami, I spun all over the city, still have all the records you spun in this mix!!! Chicago and Detroit will always rule!!
While I dont particularly enjoy this a lot thanks for posting. Its nice to see the roots of where my favorite music came from. Its crazy to think great shit like Hardstyle and Hardtrance came from this. Gotta pay homeage to its roots and some of the original rave DJ's. Techno/MDMA = awesome

In the beginning, there was Jack, and Jack had a groove.
And from this groove came the groove of all grooves.
And while one day viciously throwing down on his box, Jack boldy declared,
"Let there be house!" ...and house music was born.

LMGHouston 5 months ago
@LMGHouston yeah, it rocks, not that it has anything to do with my comment or with music in general. That makes me wonder why you brought it up? Does my lame 100000 km video make my comment on djing irrelevant? If yes, explain why.
waclosh 5 months ago
@waclosh Waclosh, i can beatmatch a record however i want. Go and play with your perfect machine (a skoda)
messthetics 4 months ago
@messthetics maaan, my skoda is so awesome it can beatmatch in less than a second, cuz it has manual transmission. But that car doesnt have anything to do with me being better in beatmatching than you.
waclosh 4 months ago
@waclosh Post a video of you showing off your skills then, if you post one for you car doing a certain amount of miles surely you can post one of you mixing better than this G.
messthetics 4 months ago
@messthetics That is a good suggestion. I will think about that. And we have kilometers in continental Europe.

@waclosh

@waclosh bit fussy of you... he's knocking out a 9 minute megamix not a 2 hour seamless journey

what a terrible sound, do something about the recording, it is mono that goes to left speaker only and lacks bass.

Great clip. Dig the Detroit mix. Looking for a mix maybe you can help me. The chorus is "she said if you want to be her friend you got to stick it in". They used to play it on The Scene and 107.5 all the time.
