He was going for a strip, which is quite common in rugby league especially when a try is being scored. It was a loose carry by O'Driscoll who is another example of an overpaid, over-rated union player not being able to handle a good shot.

It certainly has helped development yea!! most SH players have gone back or retired so theres not as many as there was last season and the season before. theres so much talent coming through here now so there not needed as much as they were,(Just in the front row...)
@papachinzo well there ya go...4/5 of those *so called* top players are from the SH!...haha...what about Contemponi also from Argentina...remember these SH players are either *at the end of their careers* (players like whittacker,howlett etc) or were B grade players who couldnt get S14 contracts (players like Mafi)...and they make a HUGE impact in the NH and increase the quality of rugby up there

Contemponi was crap when we got him 1st though, he got really good after about 3 years! Yea they come over as B/C grade but they develop after a while...
@papachinzo so its fair to say the SH players have made a HUGE impact in the NH, increasing the style/brand/skill of rugby...attracting MORE fans. The NH has had NO IMPACT whatsoever for the SH (S14) at all. Michelak/Thomas made NO impact and they STRUGGLED to get into the starting lineups of lowly ranked teams like the Sharks. and they are 2 of the best players of europe for the last 10years! Thomas was a Lions captain!
@BenKHouch An Impact indeed, but not a HUGE impact...some player did but not all of them, Rocky Elsom and Nick Evans made HUGE impacts on there teams, but thats it really. Thats not true at all...Thomas was never that great, just strong and a good captain, and Michelak was always seen as the "Anna Kournikova" of Rugby. Well known,Women love him,but hes shit, he hasn't started for Toulouse in ages, and also I do remember him being injured for a first nine or ten games of the Super 14 that year!?

@ledg88 Yeah......S14 sucks dude, Grant Fox was the first man to say it a few years ago! ML has 10 teams with an average of 16 International capped players(10% foreign) per team, S14 has an average of what 5-8 per team... The Queensland Reds came down here last season, and a 2nd string Leinster team full of 18-19 year olds destroyed them... sure Munster almost beat the all blacks 2 years ago, AB's got a try in the last min to win it 18-16....

@papachinzo hey dude, Reds just beat the stormers last night (a team with several sprinboks) with a forward pack without a single wallaby. Reds have been cellar dwellars the past few seasons, i just hope they tour North this year cos they will smash whoever you got. Mate Munster may very well have 'almost' beaten the AB's... unfortunately they didn't and the history books will reflect that. Have you even watched any S14 this year with the new law interpretations or are you just a jerk?

@BenKHouch You'd have to understand NH Rugby the way the game is refereed etc..., you'd need the full package to do well in the Heineken Cup aswell, you cant just rely on one or two aspects, ask anyone, tbh id say the brumbies would do awesome down here, that is one hell of a team(even tho there not doing well in the S14)... i dunno why, buts its like the crap SH players do well down here, but the great SH players do shit. Rocky is one exception!

@BenKHouch sure yea, id say the top 5 players last year were R.Elsom, BOD, L.Mafi, N.Evans, P.Warwick. It certainly has helped development yea!! most SH players have gone back or retired so theres not as many as there was last season and the season before. theres so much talent coming through here now so there not needed as much as they were,(Just in the front row...)

@papachinzo well there ya go...4/5 of those *so called* top players are from the SH!...haha...what about Contemponi also from Argentina...remember these SH players are either *at the end of their careers* (players like whittacker,howlett etc) or were B grade players who couldnt get S14 contracts (players like Mafi)...and they make a HUGE impact in the NH and increase the quality of rugby up there

Contemponi was crap when we got him 1st though, he got really good after about 3 years! Yea they come over as B/C grade but they develop after a while...

@papachinzo so its fair to say the SH players have made a HUGE impact in the NH, increasing the style/brand/skill of rugby...attracting MORE fans. The NH has had NO IMPACT whatsoever for the SH (S14) at all. Michelak/Thomas made NO impact and they STRUGGLED to get into the starting lineups of lowly ranked teams like the Sharks. and they are 2 of the best players of europe for the last 10years! Thomas was a Lions captain!

@BenKHouch An Impact indeed, but not a HUGE impact...some player did but not all of them, Rocky Elsom and Nick Evans made HUGE impacts on there teams, but thats it really. Thats not true at all...Thomas was never that great, just strong and a good captain, and Michelak was always seen as the "Anna Kournikova" of Rugby. Well known,Women love him,but hes shit, he hasn't started for Toulouse in ages, and also I do remember him being injured for a first nine or ten games of the Super 14 that year!?

@papachinzo im not just talking onfield impact...im talking off field impact too...some of these *has-been* SH players are putting *bums on seats* cause of their *reputations, their names, who they used to play for, etc*...a PRIME example is Jonah Lomu whos playing in France. His 1st few games he QUADRUPLED the crowd for the club...he was the only new player...people want to see stars from the SH..too bad, they dont go up there til their career is over cause in the NH they can still play!

@slimjim21211 guys like bowe,SWilliams etc look GREAT vs average opponents...but put them up against teams like NZ in NZ and they look like schoolboy..... for a NH player to get my attention they have to perform against the best on THEIR soil..not at home...last once to do that was Martin Johnson,Wilkinson 2003 tour of NZ and 03 WC..no other NH player has impressed me within that time whilst touring here....anyone can play good at homein front of their fans and without travel and foreign refs

@BenKHouch - Hi Ben - did you not see the 2009 Lions series, against the world champs? BOD was superb there, I think the Springbok players would tell you that. Also he made Jamie Roberts, his centre partner, look brilliant - the sign of a great player. That was 8 years and a lot of injuries since the Aus tour, and a game continually changing and asking different things of centres.

@papachinzo 5years ago Jonah tried to make a comeback for North Harbour in the NPC. theyre usually the 7/8th best team in a 10team comp. he was so terrible he lasted 2 games..the he gets a big NH contract..thats how it works..OVER 150 NZ players gone to Europe in the last 5-6 years!..yet the ABs still churn out the talent to have a 80-85% win record EVERY YEAR!

@papachinzo lol..s14 then straight into the tri nations..then hong kong bledisloe (as well as a few Air NZ NPC games) then usually a NH grandslam tour then a baabaas game 1st S14 trial was in January,1st comp game was in Feb...and the final game was in December..its full on...also being the All Blacks every team plays alittle bit harder cause they want to beat the best
