  • What was the jazz song he played.

  • I saw one of these Custom Shop '51 NOS Nocasters with a large "C" shap neck instead of the "U" shape neck shown here. I'm guessing a few were made with the "C" necks.

  • If I'm not mistaken the muted neck pickup setting isn't caused by the pickup itself but by tone knob and capacitors right?

If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that all the guitars on their videos always look so damned gorgeous with their lightning?

  • Looked like at the end you turned back the tone or volume and didn't flip the switch for the mellower neck bridge blend. Sounds basically the same though.

  • howzabout a lefty

  • nocasters and broadcasters however had a lighter blonde color... not the butterscotch blonde color we see in the 52 teles.

  • wich amp?

  • hey Andy do you think i should buy a squire classic vibe nocaster or a fender nocaster custom shop?

  • how versatile would you say these Abigail Hand Wound Pickups are compared to a twisted tele and hot nocaster combo? im trying to decide between one of these and a custom deluxe telecaster. Thank you, and great review as always.

  • i love this guitar - i posted a live vid of myself playing "Breakdown" on one- great guitar Fender ! once again

  • this is a bad looking guitar :(

  • @jymi743 Take this comment and put it in a scrap book so you can laugh at your younger self.

  • @jymi743 ... not unless ur mom's name is "Guitar".

  • @feedbackismyfriend maybe the wiring?

  • I can't stand people doesn't like that pretty sound...

  • I clicked the link to PGS but it was not available. Will this one come again ?

  • Better is to hear a guitar in tune... specially the ones who are expensive and classics

  • That neck pickup sounds absolutely wonderful. Any place where I can find something like it aftermarket?

  • Nice job on the intro tune. Very pleasant.

  • This is the perfect shade of Blonde, unlike the '52 AVRI Telecaster, I I find far too dark and translucent.

  • beautiful sound

  • the end was cool...

  • Very nice pickin there Andy! I loved the behind the nut bend!

  • Hi Andy, what amp are you using for this clip? Any pedals?

Awesome sound + playing :) Regards from Sweden

  • man i look up a guitar I am curious how it will sound and get stoked to see that andy has a video , I know it wil be SUPERB!!!!

  • Incredible good sounding guitar!

Is that a 57 Twin you are playing thru?

VERY VERY TASTY playing to of course!!!!

  • I am in LOVE with this guitar!! I MUST HAVE ONE!!

  • how close is the tone from the nocaster CS pups to the ones in this guitar?

my tele has the same specifications...thx

  • does it have the nocaster custom pickups?

  • 0:40

    that was rad.

  • Good God, I wish I could play like Andy.

  • i'm saving up for a lefty '52 tele cnt wait to get one, whats the song thats played @ 2:09 i've heard it in loads of other video's

  • What would you call the finish on that tele? It's my favorite colour for teles.

  • butterscotch blond is what i believe the catalog says

  • That would be butterscotch blonde I believe. ;)

  • @viewer1a

    :58

    Blonde Nitro

  • @viewer1a I think its called butterscotch

  • @viewer1a That's "Nocaster Blond" color. "Butterscotch" is way more orange, as you can see from the AV 52 reissues.

  • @feedbackismyfriend

That is some interesting history there man. Thanks for sharing I didn't know that.

  • beautiful guitar, beautiful tone, great playing!

  • 2:04 - 2:38 sounds bitchin'

Was there an OD pedal involved there?

  • Telec Baja, Made in USA?

  • Hey Andy, what tuning are you using for the first two neck positions?

    Cheers.

    Vinny

  • @StickyVinny , that would be Drop D. Thanks,

    Andy

  • what is the diff between a tele and a nocas??

  • what is the difference between the tele and the nocaster??

  • Hey, do they use the same strings that the guitars they demo came with or do they change them to andys preference?

  • i got my mexi 2day and if u think its 2 twangy ur wrond all u need 2 do is experiment with tone and as and treble and all dat shit

  • okay-i'm a metal head at heart-but man-this thing just soounds great!-i have two tele's(never play em-they sound to twangy) but this one sounds so warm and fat feeling-really great! props fender

  • Andy your demo's inspire me to play better - I love your licks and style. Doesn't hurt that you are playing a guitar that I want to add to my collection either! Proguitarshop demos rock!

  • great sound!! :)

  • Sweet axe & great playing.

  • @rg2027x What do yo mean by axe?

  • "axe" is slang for "guitar"

  • "Axe" is really slang for any instrument. I've heard jazz piano players call the piano their axe.

  • lol!

  • jeez watch out john 5 here comes andy

  • please someone tell me wats the song played at 2:47 and andy can you please start posting in the info box wat songs your playing it will make it easier for everyone man

  • @ecntir:

Not sure that he can post what the exact songs, or artists are because of possible copyright infringement...right Andy??

  • Don't think it's a song I think it's just a riff he made.

  • looks like a tele and bradcaster made a baby, and it came out of the world groovin!!

  • Ah shit, this sounds amazing.

  • Whats the song he is playing at the start

  • Nice playing Andy--that sounded great!

  • LP bb 57. LP-58. Strat-57. Nocaster 51.

    The best in world!!!

  • Hey whats the little trick Andy does at 0:40? Thanks!

  • A behind the nut bend.

  • @albino567 Thanks!

  • Result of years and years of meditation and isolation

  • @Freeptom just bend the string at the head stock,,, just push on the string and the pitch will go up

  • @Freeptom he pushes down on the string above the nut make it tighter there for the note would go higher like bendin

  • bends the neck, has the effect of a whammy bar kinda but can damage the guitar

  • no it doesn't I have a guitar that i got years and years ago, I use that technique frequently and it hasn't had any negative effects

  • He doesn't bend the neck. That's a behind-the-nut bend. It's not like a whammy bar at all. It's like a Parsons B- or G-bender.

  • very nice...

  • it's called jazz

  • This sounds... amazing.

  • Excellent!!

    I have it.

  • It must be mentioned that although they were soon to be called Telecasters, in the origin (1959) the name was to be "Broadcaster", but Fender had to change it because of copyright issues with the company Gretsch, that sold a drum set with the name in those days. Being the TV the latest phenomenon in the 50s, Fender decided to name his creation after it, and thus the Broadcaster was to be called Telecaster ever since.

    greetings from venezuela,,,

  • but beetwing bradcaster and telecaster the gutar was called simply nocaster,,,

  • damn i want one!

  • Great review Andy!

  • Hey Andy, have you ever tried using a thumb pick and your fingers for that that Burton Chicken Pickin' sound?

  • ive never known the difference between a nocaster and a telecaster, besides the name

  • well, thats really the only true difference! It had a notoriously fat neck, but so did some teles.

  • I like the fat neck !

  • Nice! Time to sell a kidney!

  • even though it is called a nocaster could it be considered a telecaster?

  • ha im pretty sure John 5 has an old original one of these

  • @DoggieTreatz One? He probably has like five?

  • He does own a original. He has lots of teles.

  • ive always thought fenders were beautiful guitars. mainly the strats and tele's. but i dont see myself playing them

  • @lovescarguitar have you ever played them?

  • @mattlittler89 Tele's and Strats? Yes I have. My friend had a white (I think. I'm not good with specific colors) vintage Telecaster. And i played a Strat at Sam Ash. Like I said, i like the way they sound. The style just isn't for me

  • Magic fingers of tone!

  • cool.

  • that's the thickest sounding fender I've ever heard of

  • Does anyone know what Andy's playing at 1:46? It sounds really familiar but I just can't place it.

  • brown sugar by the rolling stones

  • Perfect intro for this guitar. Loved it!

I got to hand it to Fender for how they've really one upped the competition lately with this and espicially that '57 strat reissue.

Great stuff as always, Andy. You really know how to fully demonstrate these instruments the way we all wish we could.

  • great Andy !

  • nice guitar... i love fender tele...

  • the nocaster was before the tele, what happened was in the early 50s fender relesed the Fender broadcaster but a drum company already had rights to the name so they took off the broadcaster and just had it say fender

  • love the muted :]

  • What overdrive pedal were you using, Andy?

  • Rockbox Boiling Point!

  • Thank you , and happy holidays to you

  • Andy why so seriouss? I would be crying on the floor if I ever get to touch that guitar!

  • Lovely guitar

  • Ahhhh =D I think I pee'd a lil =P

  • Great twang,love teles with 50'S wiring.Andy can play it all,sweet demo

  • For me?!? When does it arrive?!? This is the best gift ever, thanks guys!

    *waits*

  • haha great username

  • how is Andy so damn good?

  • Is it a song at the beginning?

  • Special tanks to Abigail.

  • OMG I meant to type thanks... Very nice sound too!

  • ask and you shall recieve.....you guys are awesome ! ! ! thanks.

  • that was some crazy playin' Andy !!

  • what's the diff 'tween a nocaster and a telecaster?

  • not quite sure. giyf.

  • the telecaster was originally called the broadcaster. There was another instrument called the broadcaster and that company sued fender. so in 1951 fender released the broadcaster with no name on the headstock. It was a plain fender decal and thats it. in 1952 they called it the telecaster officially. So they refer to that year with no name for the guitar the nocaster. Because the guitar had no name.

  • the nocaster doesn't have the "telecaster" writing on the headstock.

  • I'm not sure but I think it's the name. I know that the earlier Telecasters (about 1950, 51) were called Broadcaster.

  • Andy, you cannot play guitar and you cannot demonstrate equipment. What about starting a hamburger restaurant.

  • @yaketyaxe I hope to God you are being sarcastic.

  • ahmm.. have you gone nuts or something?:D just wondering...

  • im in love

  • what was that first song he played unless he was just jamming

  • Not my style of playing

    But that's a badass guitar!

  • i like the 1952 hotrodded tele

  • Wow ,this guitar really lives up to the name Total Tone.

  • whoa!

it sounded fatter than i would expect

  • sweet tele wish i had the money to own one of these.
