  • Dear Tim,

In the future, please don't waste your time responding to people who have no idea what they are talking about. The ghost notes and accents are there. Technique is great.

  • @SevenTillDawn

Thanks for the kind words and Yes i know somtimes i get sucked into the web......................

    Tim

  • I'm very impressed of this video.

But there's one thing that bothers me when try to play these kind of things, I get constant ache in my calves, is it just to stay relaxed or what?

    moqers.

  • @moqers its just about building up the endurance in your muscles.

  • @moqers

that and endurance, rather than playing at your max tempo all the time, slow down during your practice regimen so that you can build up the muscle memory and the relaxation required for extreme speeds

  • the sloppy sound is not from not being triggered... its because he cant decide which hand pattern to play over the top. same thing happens to me.... u keep in time with the feet but the hand pattern transitions are out of time ever so slightly because there are too many cool sounding possibilities.

  • All i hear is pitter patter...

  • jeeze you guys, he,s doing the PATTERN that is USED bleed in an accented way, it is in no way sloppy, just sounds sloppy to the untrained ear. go ahead put a metrenome against it, i dare ya.

keep up the good work Tim.

  • @jonsenger agreed

  • Thomas Haake Could play it better :P

  • Umm Tim i know you feet kick ass but for me you are not a drummer. You are just a guy who uses any means to simply play a fast blast or play fast feet.I am not trying to throw mud on your face,i think i have a point. You play 1057 single strokes for what?Just for world record.I know my feet are much faster IN A SONG.What is the meaning of playing fast?None!Well there is a meaning if you play like kollias fast, but not this!Brodequin's drummer is way faster than you on recorded IN TRACK drums.!

  • well Im GLAD your feet are much faster in a sing cause mine are too.

I met Chad walls from Brodequin Cool Guy

    Tim

  • That tempo is nice .. especialy with the left foot. I bet none of you complaining about sloppyness can even do it at regular speed ... so go practice and don´t spam stupid comments, as anyone could do it better...

  • I think anyone who writes a comment about this being sloppy has to tag their own video of them playing the hertas beat themselves. it's easy on youtube to poopoo on other drummers for putting themselves out there while not showing there own techniques. thanks for something tim!!!

  • you can write a comment saying something is sloppy anytime you want, theres no rulebook of morality that says you have to show you can do better than somebody else just by stating that

  • in a way i agree with you.

But this is sloppy as shit.

  • If I trigger the bass drum you dont hear the accent but I prefer the accent

    Merry Christmas

    Tim

  • It sounds more sloppy than it is though. Because it isn't triggered it feels like it's off beat. (Due to more sound from the last stroke on the left foot, 'rlr R'.)

  • it's also too fast to sound correct ^^

  • You are correct I listened to Thomas i should have played it slower this is just a demo of what the Hertas sound like

    Tim

  • Nope. failed

  • It is correct I am just playing the HERTAS. NOT BLEED.

    Tim

  • the pattern is not even close to sounding good

  • exactly

  • I should have played it slower but I dont have a copy of the song. This is still Hertas with the feet

i normally do this pattern as an ostinatoe for soloing

    Tim

  • @TimWaterson

    Spelt ostinato wrong...

  • @snakespence Spelled "spelled" wrong.

  • dude your missing all the ghost notes, and that's not quite the right kick pattern, listen for the changes, pretty solid though.

  • pretty sloppy rhythmically

  • dude, wow, bleed at double speed! monstrous as always. BTW i'm a lurker from the old blastology forum, always enjoyed your input.

  • Awesome coordination and control...as always!

  • now just slow that down and show us how to do it

  • There is another video where I break it down S L O W L Y

just the feet on the ground

    Tim

  • can i just say that the pattern doesnt sound the same as bleed.

  • You are right. That is way too sloppy to sound correct.

  • alright, awesome! thanks

  • Always interested in playing in an Extreme band,

    Tim

  • Tim - please start/join a killer extreme metal band, we wanna see what you can really do! :-)

  • Brilliant foot work.

  • you guys are idiots... these are hertas with the feet... which is whats used in the song.... thats why he capitalized the word USED.... implying that it isnt the song itself.

why are groove-metal fans always a bunch of morons?

  • GLAD you understand this is jus a demo of the hertas

.Some drummers are so quick to jump on to criticize if its not exact to what they think they want to hear even know they cant comprehend what is being demonstrated.LOL

    Tim

  • i know dude. its ridiculous.

its every instrument too... everyone wants to either be the best drummer or guitarist... or tell everyone that theyre listening to the best drummer or guitarist. whatever.

by the way tim... do you play these as RLR-L? i was messin with them yesterday for a few minutes playing R-RLR, which is kindof a fun alternative to triplets... and i might wanna practice both ways. is that even still considered a herta? sounds the same but inverted.

  • ok guys i can admit he's pretty dang good but ive seen better, and yeah he wasnt playing bleed

  • like joey jordison? if you say yes i'm going to kill you

  • aperently you cant, and he is wayy better

  • buddy that made no sense at all

  • dude, you arent terrible, dont listen to those idiots, it isne bleed that you are playing though

  • he's not terrible, he's beyond that

  • He just doing the footwork of the song okay !

  • yeah, quit beind assholes, hes one of the best drummers alivel.

  • the footwork pattern isnt quite Bleed!

  • I am just playing it faster I just listened to Thomas clip and played along with my feet on the floor its the same pattern

    Tim

  • then i wouldn't talk shit

  • hes better than joey

  • if you're going to talk shit about you being better then him I'd post a video to prove it.

  • i dont has a vidio cam yet...

  • oooooooooOOOoo. find the more skilled 3 year old!!!! that would be like the sickest thing ever! ..... douche..

  • Fucking tard.

  • Guys, stop being dicks. You should give him credit, he's a great drummer.

  • Hah dude hes terrible hes only good cause he set the world record = /

  • What the fuck are you talking about. Tim Waterson is a great drummer and ontop of that he is a great teacher. How many of you can boast his ACTUAL musical knowledge.

  • Youre shitting me.. Dude LISTEN to this solo, it sounds SO shitty, i said he was a good teacher he just sucks some serious ass, if he was in any good he could set that double kick world record to some good and ply in a band

  • I'm not going to shred you apart for making a mistake. Because firstly, this isn't a solo. This is an example of the song Bleed by Meshuggah.

He doesn't suck any ass at all. Tim is a greatly technical drummer who has alot of precision (which is a rare thing amongst some drummers.).

Maybe he is making a couple of CD's as we speak. Who knows. He might have a solo project going on. But I personally think he is doing just fine right now being a teacher. Perhaps thats all he wanted to do.

  • there is more then just this in the song. and i would love to see the more dificult foot parts in this song. because they get a hell of a lot more tricky further in in terms of the patterns

  • in terms of patterns that would be false my friend, this riff is not a polyrythm, but the polyrythms in this song are probably much harder to play than this foot pattern. but id say this pattern is the hardest pattern to play/keep time with on the oneandtwo and the ghost notes on the snare.

  • i didnt say it was a polyrhythm did i? and there polymetres not polyrhythms in this song. or so i belive. havent heard a polyrhythm when i listen to it

  • the rhythmic pattern in the first verse is 3/16. the second verse is 5/16. the third verse is two "bars" of 7/16, then 5, then 3, then 5 again (i think this part is tricky). of course, when you tap your foot to that, you realize that it's just simple 4/4, which is what's so cool about meshuggah

these things are polymeters, but the first two verses go by so fast that you can call them polyrhythms that are 'embellished' with subdivisions. there is a 'legit' polyrhythm in that one psycho snare part

  • please, show us your amazing technique, o lord of drums. if you can't do better than Tim, just shut up and go practice.

he doesn't claim to be the best, he simply helps others, unlike many guys around, INCLUDING YOU SIR!

  • Tim doesn't help anyone plays drums, The only thing interesting he has ever done was win a LAME double bass contest. All of his techniques are almost useless, even he can't explain them correctly or even do them half of the time, but he loves giving advice because people always ask him questions? Yeah right man, he has never even played in a decent band. He just drops named of people better than him and eats up the attention.

  • very technical... however your feet sound neither tight nor consistent.

  • My bass drum is NOT triggered

    Tim

  • Ok, no disrespect, Tim. I DO find many of your vids quite helpful. It looks (and sounds) like you are doing a Flammed Triplet or Flam-a-Que here. While the Herta is triplet based, it is more separate of a stroke. Like-- R(l)RL R(l)RL . In 16ths, the (l) is the 32nd note. If done correctly the two left strokes end up smoothing out and playing what feels like straight 8th notes. Try doing them with a left lead!! Talk about hard. Hope this helps.

  • Ive always beent aught that Flammmed triplets alternate.DRUM magazine listed Thomas as doing Hertas witht he feet

my bass drum is NOT triggered like Thomas',but if you listen you can hear the separation

flamacues are much harder to execute you need to get the 2nd note accent.

If you smooth out the notes it becomes a swiss triplet and I have videos of that from a LONg time ago.

    hope this clears the confusion

    tim

  • hey tim you should play the whole song with the other instrument looped with it

o yeah and MESHUGGAH has an H at the end

    peace

  • sounds very off

  • oooppsss

Ok so Thomas plays it it 1/2 time..I did not have the cd I was JUST talking about the hertas for feet

    Tim

  • ok im sorry tim your hertas were on track nice job because i was going to ask if you doing hertas

  • i think you just do a cover of the song bleed i think that would really help the people who want to do it but cool video

  • doesnt sound right

  • Sounds a bit like Hot For Teacher by VH. Cool beat though.

  • HFT has hertas mixed with 1/16 to simulate a Harley

    tim

  • Has a nice groove to it.

  • Awesome, Tim.
