  • Hi... your videos looks like old. It's on purpose? Or is just a case of bad cam? :p. If yes, what kind edition program or filter do you use? Love your videos by the way. I stalk you, ops, I mean, follow :p, for few years. My bests for you!

  • @fabsfabsfabs I'm not sure why people seem to sometimes say my videos look "old." They are made on an analog camera, but it's not an old analog camera or anything. It's just not a digital camera. I have to transfer it to the computer with a separate device. Glad you like my videos!

  • Wow... I'm pretty sure I lived in this same complex about five or six years ago.

  • @cholling1 Neat. Though apparently my floor plan is really common. If you recognize the outside stuff, though, it's more likely. (It used to be a different color a few years back, though.)

  • @swankivy The fountain gave it away. And I moved just before they re-painted it, in 2006.

  • @cholling1 Ah, I didn't move here until 2007, and I was here for a while before they painted it. :)

  • @swankivy Ah.. so either they painted it twice, or there's more than one apartment with a pond, a fountain, and similar floorplans.

  • Ah, the bike of joy.

  • You don't have a lot of the mundane things that most people have in their apartment....

  • @dollypatinson Mundane things? I guess I just have the things I like!

  • Mmm soy milk. Chocolate soy milk for me. :)

And OMG! It's been Billions and Billions of years since Swankivy uploaded a video?! My math might be off by one... multiplied by a lot... but seriously, I can't help but be curious. Is there nothing video-worthy in Sankivy's life as of late? ):

  • @DaggVids I actually have one planned for next week but I have to make it first. I've been busy with my novel. I'm going to start sending it to agents in November so there's been a lot of work to do.

  • Diet Dr. Pepper and soy milk? Yech. That’s what I’m judging you on.

  • @gastronomist The soy milk is indeed mine. The Diet Dr. Pepper is my friend Jeaux's drink of choice. He is at my house every week so I buy it for him.

  • @swankivy It’s not natural for people to not drink dairy. I think you just haven’t tried the right kind. Have you tried whole milk, homogenized, 1%, 2% and skimmed? Or how about goat milk? You’re life must be empty without milk. I bet you’d like milk if I served it to you.

  • @gastronomist Better yet., I sucked milk from my mommy's boobies! (Note: I don't have a policy against dairy, but I'm moderately lactose intolerant so I prefer an alternative for my cereal.)

  • @swankivy Intolerance?! That’s even worse. You need to accept lactose for the kind of carbohydrate that it was created.

  • @gastronomist I'll just let it be my personal savior, then.

  • @swankivy I was wondering - do you want to drink milk? Maybe you have hypo-lactic disorder.

  • Woah, you put batteries in the kitchen drawer too? Now I feel like exactly the way I did before, except for knowing someone else does that too! :D

9:35 - yes, so hungry... I see you got oatmeal. Ever cook that in milk, as opposed to water? I'd also recommend fruits sliced/diced and thrown in - preferably fresh. Top it with honey. That's my usual winter time breakfast. :3

ohman, so much more hungrier now...

  • @DaggVids Actually no, I don't cook the oatmeal at all. I use it in baking. I can't remember the last time I ate oatmeal for breakfast. At least ten years ago. I make cookies and put it in breads sometimes. Heh, and yeah, the battery compartment of my junk drawer is even labeled. :) (I like your comment about feeling exactly the same as before, hahaha.) Sorry for making you hungry.

  • Cool apartment. Can't wait to get one of my own.

  • Lovely cool creative space! And excellent fun creative treatment and composition for the video!

Don't sleep much? Most all my adult life I've had running average of about 4 to 6 hrs. sleep per 24, 5ish being pretty typical - varies a *lot* within 24, but pretty stable over 48 to 72.

Dream Journal - care to share interesting bits sometime?

With invite and were it anywhere close, would love to come over and hang out - but alas I'm a few thousand miles away. Rain check?

    Thanks for sharing.

  • @MichaelPaoli Thanks for your comments. I sleep polyphasically so sometimes the actual amount of sleep I get is difficult to quantify. It's sort of like my eating; if possible I prefer not to have big meals, but just little meals throughout the day, so sleeping is in "nibbles" too. The dream journal is not kept loyally I'm afraid, and I used to have some online but decided they weren't important. I do have a "dreams" tag on my LiveJournal for especially interesting ones though.

  • Your apartment is full of awesome. You're so neat and organized, that I'd be afraid to touch anything... I can be organized too sometimes if I try hard enough, but it all just falls apart eventually... I especially love your pentagram wind chimes. :)

Btw, 0:19-0:21, I think that's a futon mattress? I used to own a futon. Kind of wish I still did.

  • @JediTat My stuff is organized so it can be found and used; I don't have a problem with things being taken out of their places as long as they are returned there. As for the futon, yes, it is a futon mattress, labeled as a "futon pad" on the images search. :)

  • Nice place, Ivy :)

Hope for you that you wont have to move anymore because getting all that stuff in boxes...whew...

  • @Musicalandmore Yes, moving is difficult for me when I have to do it. Last time I moved I hired a service to take my stuff across town and they asked me to estimate how many boxes. When I did (having moved only a year before that and knowing how many boxes it took), they expressed skepticism because I said it was a one-bedroom apartment. I'm sure most people don't know how to estimate boxes but in my case I was right about having been able to get that much stuff into a one-bedroom place. :D

  • @Musicalandmore By the way, when I did move, I took a bunch of photos of all the boxes piled up. Haha.

  • I'm not judging you! And I'm slightly jealous of the bananas in your pantry - I'm Australian and we had awful floods in QLD where the banana supply mostly comes from and so bananas are freakishly expensive still. I love the way you decorate your place :)

  • @joannamarierogue Ooh. Well, we have cheap bananas here, too bad I cannot send you any. :) I eat a banana every day at work.

  • Um, do you use real lava in that lamp, because I saw smoke.

  • @woodsprout No, you didn't see smoke. There was no smoke coming from it. There were definitely some weird reflections though, which is why it looks so neat in the dark. The lamp isn't too hot to touch when it's like that.

  • Comment removed

  • Stereotype jokes aside, It's truly a cool little lamp, thanks for telling me. ...sometimes I stare at things like that & figure out how they work, like in a large lava lamp (they get hot), there's a little spring bent into a ring shape laying in the bottom of the chamber, which helps the lava flow in it's revolving pattern. Now If only I could get a job that uses my lava lamp observation skills.

I'm guessing you may be off to sleep, see you next time. ...great presentation. ^_^

  • @woodsprout I'm not asleep. Not at the moment, anyway.

  • P.Q. ~Is it hard to keep things put away?

  • @woodsprout It's not at all hard for me to "keep things put away." The only exception is when I have guests; they tend to like to pull out interesting items (I have a lot!) and then leave them for perusal on tables and whatnot, and I tend to get a little catty about if people don't put things back. If I'm using something it's out, and if I'm not it goes away. I don't develop piles of clutter.

  • Thanks Ivy, I feel like I know you better now. ...besides, visiting Florida wasn't going to be happening anytime soon. I recently re-watched your Up All Night video, (me also a night owl) & I understand that video better now in the context of seeing your stuff. That's a nice-sized apartment & you have done a ton with it! ...& all possible because of organization. I have this same tendency to organize everything. (everything needs a place to live, & needs to go home! & the floor is not it!

  • @woodsprout I thought maybe people like you who have known me for a long time online might appreciate seeing my environment. Glad you enjoyd it and got some insights into me. I love organization and tend to keep everything well organized, but it's not any special effort. I come up with a system and I stick to it. Cleaning doesn't interest me as much as organizing or documenting does; I've always loved organizing information and things, and in MY apartment, I get to make ALL the choices!

  • @swankivy I'm getting insights into me too.

I didn't really think you had trouble keeping things put away. I'm feeling less odd now.

  • @woodsprout Heh! You know, one thing I hate is when people insist that if I keep an organized house, it means I "don't have a life" or "am obsessive-compulsive." I really don't spend much time organizing my stuff; it stays that way once I do it once, and I resent that some people believe you're only focusing your attention on "the right things" if your house is messy or you don't care about your living space. As we all know, other people get to decide what our values should be, right? X(

  • @swankivy That I agree, To me it means MORE life, because then every open space become a multi-purpose area. I didn't grow up with anybody in my family who was into organizing, so it has taken me many years to gain the confidence of my my natural tendencies.

On a side note, I haven't taken as many online tests as you, but when I have one said I was a visual mathematician (with a little picture of A. Einstein to make one feel good).

  • @swankivy I very much understand this concept- "it stays that way once I do it once" I think it actually takes less effort to maintain, once a drawer, box ,shelf etc. is set up. I've had someone say "it looks like a display" to which I think: isn't everything a display?

  • @woodsprout Yeah. Every once in a while if I have to reevaluate how something is stored I might re-do it (or if it needs cleaning), but usually the organization choices I make work for years before I have to modify them (most notably when it comes to clothes; I had to dedicate an entire drawer to pajama pants once I got enough of them). I'm not trying to impress anyone with my "displays," but I like things to look and be orderly.

  • That's amazing, your apartment is absolutely huge *o*. *jealous*

I live in Japan, and I've got a 1LK (1 Living room + 1 Kitchen). Of course there's a bathroom and bathtub, but those are just little closet rooms connecting to my hallway kitchen area XD;.

Have you ever had to move? I'd think living in such a big place, and trying to pack up EVERYTHING would be the absolute worst ;o;.

  • @snowym12 Ooh, yes I have a sister and a good friend who spent much time in Japan and those places are usually pretty tiny. Yes, I've moved, but I've been at this place since 2007. Moving is hell for me. I like nesting and I hate being uprooted, so when I move I don't eat or sleep much until everything is organized. I moved from a 1-bedroom in 2007, and moved from a studio to the 1-bedroom in 2006. I didn't have as much stuff for my first move to a shared apartment in 1996.

  • wow your apartment has so much stuff it's like a shop! haha :P

you have a really great apartment so much life and colour and care put into decorating it and no shame to be an organiser hehe. loved the humour throughout especially the parts where you run along the hallway really speedily and the part where you put "I think you know what it's for" about the toilet, lol.

  • @violetinspired I thought you might appreciate the video. ;) Now it's sort of like I've had you over and shown off all my stuff! I like the hall thing too and I figured since all the other segments featured me using facilities in the rooms, I should poke fun at that for the bathroom. :)

  • What I said on Facebook ;)

no I'm kidding, great video, really enjoyed it, wonder how many outtakes this took XD

  • @SassiTheKitty Really I didn't have outtakes, 'cept for maybe a couple where I cut something for length. Though there was one time I slammed the spice drawer on my pigtail when it fell in. Also when I wanted to record the tennis court, some dude was on it, and he was on it for like HOURS. It was getting close to being dark before he went in so I could get my shot. :P Oh and I forgot to show a shot of my fridge magnets. I taped it but forgot to include it. :(

  • @SassiTheKitty Actually the mistake I made most frequently was forgetting to turn the camera onto record. I had to re-"perform" some of the scenes. And my battery ran out once while taping.

  • @swankivy everybody makes mistakes x

    but hey, love the video

  • @SassiTheKitty Thank you my dearie.

  • @swankivy you're welcome x

  • I WANT COPIC MARKERS SO BAD!! Do they run out easy? D:

  • @YukiWishing No, actually. They last a while (depending on use, of course), though I recommend using not-too-absorbant special marker paper. Also, you buy refills for the markers, not whole new markers, so that makes it so much less wasteful and awesome! But the dealers for the markers can be hard to find. I'm actually looking to shop for my first refill for an empty marker next weekend or so, and I've had the markers since 2008.

  • @swankivy They look so cute. Oh and I didnt know u had a website! -goes to check it out..- Do u have a deviantart? :o

  • @YukiWishing Yes, I'm swankivy pretty much everywhere. If you go to my website also, you can see what other services I have accounts with because there is a little collection of them in a box on the front page. :)

  • Lavalamp. O_____O

  • Great place! Even greater use of Azumanga Daioh music, haven't heard it in a while but instantly brought a smile to my face. I'd love to decorate similarly with all my toys and cool stuff but my cats would most likely decide to play with them while I was at work.

  • @GetterAtomsk I know, that music is just so whimsical. I figured it would go well with absurd hall-walking. I don't have cats so I don't have that problem, but I definitely think the types of decorating I like to do would not be well received by pets or small children. I have a billion things to fall down, get knocked over, and get chewed. (Usually some type of disaster does occur when I have company. I have a certain DVD rack that's prone to falling over if you bump it at all.)

  • Lol @ animporphs:)

  • @BitchPleeaassee One of the best series ever. :) (And I say that despite having read them for the first time when I was in my twenties.)

  • You have a very lovely home.

  • @Elyzater Thanks!! And thanks for being my first commenter.
