its technically not a triple play. The strikeout is an out. And the 2 throwouts are just throwouts. According to MLB rules, its not a triple play. Just like when a pitcher strikes out a batter, then they catch the runner at 2nd, its not a double play. Its a good play though.

First the pitch at the beginning was the First out, the second was the player trying to get to second base, then the throw back to the Home plate was the third and final out of the inning. Its really hard trying to explain this to a person that doesn't really know the rules. Sorry for the super defensive/thin skinned people that get so bent out of shape. there are runners on 1st and 3rd and you know how it goes "3 strikes you're out"? well the guy that was hitting swung and missed for 3 strikes so he was out. meanwhile the runner at 1st was tryin to steal 2nd base when the pitcher pitched the ball but the catcher threw the ball and the 2nd baseman caught it and tagged him before the runner reached 2nd base so the runner was out too. then the runner at 3rd was going home during the throw down to 2nd but didnt make it either and was tagged out too

I was at a Twins game in 1988. The Twins turned a triple play on the Indians. The left fielder robbed a homerun with two men on. The runners thought it was out. They got caught napping. The left fielder threw to second and second threw to first. That was the Twins 8th triple play in their history and it happened on 8/8/88. That's baseball for you!

Even if a triple play were easy to pull off several things have to happen:

1. There have to be no outs in the inning.

2. There have to be at least 3 players (often incl. a batter) in play.

3. The most common triple play is a 5-4-3 with runners on 1st and second. If the runners are in a different base alignment then the fielding team's skill alone does not determine the outcome. There needs to be a baserunning error for the triple play to be possible.

Even then its unlikely.
