It doesn't matter if it's CNN trying to rip him apart for comments about US soldiers or if it's on friendly daytime TV, Stephen King always arouses this latent jealousy and admiration in the people he's next to. Look, half the people on this show couldn't contain themselves from breaking topic once just to get his attention their way.
There is NO WAY he wrote The Dome recently. It is written like his old style, not like his recent style. It is OBVIOUSLY a book he wrote a long time ago and either forgot about it and/or lost it, and recently found it. (probably in a box in his attic) He might have edited it a little, but NO WAY did he write it recently. He doesn't write that well anymore.
I wish he had made Bag of Bones into a movie. You know you're reading a great horror book when you make sure your doors are locked and turn all the lights on.

After I saw your bitter comments in the author notes during Dark Tower, and then killed every beloved character off in brutal fashion...I determined you were a very small man. You KNEW how your fans felt about those characters and you rebelled on your 'constant readers' in revenge for the insensitivity of a minority during your trials after the accident you endured. You have mentioned that killing "your darlings" is an essential part of your writing but I "see you" and I know what you did.
@Prometheus1st ok...you know what? It's going to be OK. Just pick up The Gunslinger and start all over again. I take it you stopped where he told you to on the 7th book? Also, they are just characters in a book...people have asked him numerous times about why a certain character does this or that. He says he had no control, it just comes out that way. What you want is like the Hollywood ending to Cujo. Sometimes kids die.

I was very angry with SK after his accident (If you don't know about it...look it up) He made a point of mentioning how ferocious his fans were following his accident while he was simply trying to survive. He was bitter about it...very angry.
Hey MR King? We didn't KNOW you had been in an accident. No details were forthcoming regarding your condition. All we saw was "Some rich fat-cat sitting on his butt while the "constant reader" was left to think you had sold us out.
No one ever says that to you. They all know that short stories are your best medium because your full length novels are in desperate need of severe editing. Please stop thinking that not shutting up is a good way to write.
Creep Show was amazing. Stephen King had a rather large role in it. He was the farmer who turned into the moss man after touching a meteorite that crashed on his land.
I haven't been a big fan of King's post-accident work (compared to how much I love most everything he did prior to that) but I have to say that "Under The Dome" was an awesome book, on par with anything else he's ever done.
It's been a long time since I actually read a book that absorbed me to the point where I completely lost track of time and space and just existed within the story like I did with this one.
I hope he's able to channel that energy in his upcoming novels, I've missed it.
this book sounds almost exactly like a Robert R McCannon book..i it was called STINGER...a town got covered by a force feild and a alien bug creature ran around killing every1..i read that book about 20 years ago...FYI the best book ive ever read by far is called SWANSONG by robert McCammon...its the only book i reread on a regular basis
I was at my cousin's house not too long ago, and he had put a Jerusalem cricket (potato bug) into a jar with a small yellow scorpion. THAT, in a nutshell, is "Under the Dome." The Simpsons movie has nothing in common with it. "Dome" is very grim, but it's not just a cynical comment on the ugliness of human nature. Proof positive that Stephen King can still tell one hell of a story.
True story, I dumped popcorn all over Stephen King's head when Lestat popped out of the water during opening night of Interview with the Vampire in the Bangor Maine theater.
weirdest Stephen King moment was when, as part of a Dave Chapelle show bit, he asked Paul Mooney, 'Do black people prefer to go to black dentists?'
utterly surreal & confusing
King is a charmer in interviews tho-the clip of him saying he sat next to a guy in full 'Ronald McDonald' clown gear on a plane while in a fatigue induced mentally susceptible state is hilarious-Conan O show I think

@TavernDragon Most people think that about horror writers. Personally, I think horror writers are the best and the most bold. It takes a different kind of person to be able to truly write a horror story. They really have to be able to handle criticism as well when they put their books out, what with all the over protective mtohers running around.
@JimmelHappyFunTime Given, The Simpsons had a dome in thier movie, but that is where it ends. His is not a comedy in the least bit. 1 can even think of Lost (specially, when it comes to the cook). Namely, Sayed.
Haha I LOVE how he mentioned the Simpson's Movie, He must have felt like crying after working so long and so hard to write this book and then a few years before he's finished that movie comes out XD. In all seriousness though, King is one great author. Love his books.

@Lala3295 Reallly? They scare me. I was reading his book of short stories that he made a few years ago called "Just After Sunset". I read the first store and I got so scared that I decided not to read the rest of the book. He is a good author, but whoooo. He's books are definitely not for the faint of heart. My sister LOVES his books, though.
Stephen King is by far one of the best writers and story tellers in my opinion. I could read nothing but his books for the rest of my life, but this is only in part due to the fact I've been reading his material since i was a child pretty much. lol
I'm gonna go on the record and say that at some times...I just sit in my cubicle and think about having sex with some of the women in my office, and that probably lasts about 2 minutes at a time.
Stephen King is a great writer. I'm halfway through reading "IT", its the first book by him that I've read, but the power of his storytelling blows me away. Being someone who has loved to write for a long time, reading his stories inspires me to be creative and come up with good writing of my own. I think his books will be remembered for a long, long time
You know every so often I see this guys books popping up on the internet in text format, I mean the ENTIRE book. it isn`t scanned, it`s typed out in text. What I want to know is WHO in the name of god would spend all that time copying and typing out word for word a 600 page novel? That`s insane to me. Are people that obsessed with ripping off books?
Rod Serling on an episode of Twilight Zone had a group of people trapped in a "town" they would travel along but never could leave..end event was they were toys belonging to a child, Stephen King surely didn't model this after RS's Twilight Zone episode! I have to get this book.
I've always wondered that, too. My dad suggested the idea of him having a team of writers. They write in his style, he approves the idea, and it goes out like that. Which may be true. I mean, at 62, it's hard to do that much work. But he also started writing Under The Dome in the 70s. He also said he tries to write 8-9 hours a day. So, I can see how he'd be able to put out so many books if that's his average writing session.
He looks really good. I can't wait to read that book. I just read in the NY Times that it's a great book. That's a lot coming from the NYT. Gotta get ahold of that book!!! & if you haven't read On Writing, you should. IT's very good.
as a chinese i bought this book, translated version,i'm working on a story about chinese kongfu ,buddism taoism, politics and ancient wars, this book helps me a lot,

Stephen King. Michael Landon. J.K. Rowling. These people know how to tell a S.T.O.R.Y. And there's nothin' like a great story. Bravo!

That book had such a surprising ending, most of the main characters actually survived! Quite uncommon for Stephen King.

Rod Serling on an episode of Twilight Zone had a group of people trapped in a "town" they would travel along but never could leave..end event was they were toys belonging to a child, Stephen King surely didn't model this after RS's Twilight Zone episode! I have to get this book.

how the hell does he write so much?
KyleNinja69 2 years ago
I've always wondered that, too. My dad suggested the idea of him having a team of writers. They write in his style, he approves the idea, and it goes out like that. Which may be true. I mean, at 62, it's hard to do that much work. But he also started writing Under The Dome in the 70s. He also said he tries to write 8-9 hours a day. So, I can see how he'd be able to put out so many books if that's his average writing session.
