Two things that scared me away from ibuypower was they wanted to charge me 300 bux to ship AND customer service guy i was talking to wasnt being straight forward and acting shady.

@NikolajKalashnikov I think it depends on how much money you saved and which games you want to play. Because some games are running better on High clocked dual cores, and other games (Like GTA4) prefer quad cores. And i think the CPU is a bit underpowered for the two HD 5870s :D

I myself are pretty hardcore in regards to gaming ( no lifer, have just quit 4 months to sort shit out ) and the only thing i dont get is playing games on the laptop itself. Do you do that? or do you hook the Laptop to a monitor? I've never tried an Alienware so cant tell what it feels like but most other laptops the keys just dont feel right when gaming. Prefer to Hook up a laptop to a monitor an use a USB keyboard & mouse. Though L4D Test here just shows how decent some lappys are for gaming!

I am buying the Sager NP9280 with the Intel core i7 930 desktop proc in it and the Nvidia 285m GPU.

That laptop will smoke the Alienware M17x and then some. Plus, its a few hundred dollars less because it doesn't have the Alienware name.

Don't tell me the Alienware is better because of the ATI 4870s in Crossfire blah blah blah. Read the benchmarks and reviews. The dual ATIs are very game specific and suffer from stuttering at low frame rates. They aren't all that great.

One powerful Nvidia 285 GPU will run much smoother than dual ATIs. Besides, when they start stuttering, you have to go in and disable crossfire, and run it off of one card anyway. Then you have an Alienware running on an aged and outdated GPU!!

And by the way, laptops in general are terrible for gaming, including this one. Carefully watch him play L4D. Its stuttering. He's getting maybe 30 FPS on his super alienware gaming laptop that he paid top dollar for. Maybe you aren't aware, but 30 FPS is absolute shit. And just because he says he's getting a solid 60 in the description doesn't mean he's being honest. Any moron with eyes can look at his screen and see the stuttering.

yes it is faster but the design looks horrible if im going to buy an $8000 laptop I would just stick with alienware for one even the most fully loaded m17x with the i7 extreme processor is $6000 which is $2000 cheaper than the fully cofigured hypersonic and the m17x also has a better graphics card if you get the i7 version which comes with dual 1gb ati 4870's but I do agree its faster but not as powerful or has a great case design such as the m17x
