Why would you be calling this a "hi-fi"? Since when could "hi-fi" or "hifi" mean what this machine does? "Hi-fi" is short for "high fidelity," which means "high-quality reproduction of sound or images." Why are you calling the HFOV a "hi-fi"?
I see that the abbreviation for the full name of the machine is "HFOV," and therefore maybe someone has pronounced that as "huh-fov." Are you sure you didn't just mishear them and think they said "hifi" even if they didn't (or that it got passed down)?
The only place I've seen it called "hi-fi" is right here, with your videos. I'm betting that an error has been made. Perhaps you would edit that part out of this video and the other(s) like it, reupload it, and then rename this without the "hi-fi" in the title?
@MaxxFordham yeah im sure those 6 thousand views would be back in an instant. I was a very young therapist upon uploading of this video. What we nickname our ventilators is of no concern to you, go and try to exercise some sanduski style control elsewhere please and thank you.
Hey, you know, you don't have to be a jerk about it. No need to be an offended SOB. I never said that what you errantly nickname it is "my concern," but if you're going to expose your precious little video and its title and description to the public, then you'd better expect a handful of people to comment on it! Maybe you should exercise your stupid Sanduski-style control elsewhere, because that sure as hell ain't what I was doing, dude!
Oh... it was a mere suggestion. No style of "control" at all. And even if you didn't want to reedit and reupload the video, adjusting the title here would be completely easy and not make you lose anything.
Oh, and I forgot one thing before. I just noticed this. I don't want to annoy you here (and I'm sorry if this does; yeah, I know this isn't a school!), but I'm just trying to help, so please don't get all proud and upset at me for this, all right? But anyway, as long as I was already talking about the title, you'll also want to take the second r out of "calibratrion" so that that just becomes "calibration."
The previous comment was by me, 1992peter. I am using someone's account with their request. They gave me their password, and I'm using their account. So, reply on 1992peter's channel. Thanks!
I have a request. Cd u do a short vid on setting up the humidifier on the HFOV? U see, I am very interested in Medical equipment, because I have health issues and have had to use it all my life. To learn about that read my channel. But, I would really apreciate it If u cd. Oh yeah, & feel free to c my vids. THEY SUCK, but I suck.
wow this video is really ineresting. at first i was kinda bothered that the piston wasnt cenetered. but it made everything clear as i read through the comments. in our hospital we are using 3100a. and i never new that there's 3100b. they look exactly the same.
not necessarily. The may look the same but they are FAR from it. The 3100a allows you to manipulate the electrical counter force so that you may center the piston, also the 3100a has a max mean pressure limiter. not found on the 3100b model. As i understand it, the higher mean airway pressures you will get from the 3100b are enough to aid the pistons recoil ergo no centering needed. Patients under the weight limit (i forget the number) require more fine tuned control of these parameters.
humidification is extremely important. Lack thereof always results in consolidation of lower air way secretions. Which is very apparent on X-rays. There is always some form of humidifier on a ventilator be it pass over blow by or even ultrasonic humidifiers.
I just want to thank you so much for the kindness u hav shown me. I mean, the video was done for me, and when I stop to think that there are so many nice people, well, it really makes me feel good.
its actually a 3100b. sorry about that i dont think i said 3100b clearly enough, a 3100a has a piston that needs to be centered, the larger 3100b doesn't need centering because of the higher mean airway pressure is enough to push the piston back.
excuse me... this is a thread dedicated to the video.... if you want to communicate you can send me messages through the proper system, this page has been vandalized enough.
Peter is on a ventilator in a coma but just 2 hours later he is posting videos and comments. You write on my channel that the Doctors think Peter will not make the day, yet on other channels he is well and writing comments?. I know what it is like to have a son who is severely sick and I can assure you that I did not spend my waking hours posting comments on you tube.
I am sorry, Diane, but I think it is you who are crying because I have blocked your channel.
Don't let Peter anywhere near that machine - (unless he needs it of course), he'd take it apart and it would never work again!!!!
Seriously - I was surprised at how noisy it is. Am familiar with regular ventilatory machines but not quite like this. very interesting. Thanks Peter for sharing the video.Julia.x.
That is one thing that scares me about HFOVs... please when i need it, please sedate me DEEPLY. a regular ventilator is more of a click pssssshhhhhhh click pshhhhhhhh this thing is loud... regular ventilators give you that darth vador feel.
do me a favor, knock me out with some propofol on my PICC line before you HFOV me... if your gonna con-vent me then go ahead and do a light valium drip
i,m pretty sure no one likes to be mechanically ventilated, it involves many risks, however even if you are intubated you don't get to choose your ventilator.... that's laughable, i guarantee if you need HFOV, your going to get it, you don't get to choose. You would have to be in severe ARDS in order to have HFOV indicated. Where conventional ventilation is not sufficient for oxygenation or c02 removal.
im talking about as a chronic patient. i have neurological disease therefore will have muscular failure at the lung level sooner or later... and i dont care what ventilator i get if i am totally knocked out.
you would definitely not know you were on HFOV if you were, we use not only analgesics but paralytics and sedatives. Are we talking Guillain-Barré or myasthenia gravis?

I agree.
The 3100A, and the 3100B, look EXACTLY alike.
The only difference, is the 3100A, requires you to center the piston. With the 3100B, the piston is ALREADY centered.

That is ot the truth.
I just trust you.
I am sharing videos with others.
I trust u, and I just told u, because I really didn't want a big concern.
Peter was very sick, and he is doing better, and I am not faking this. It really hurt peter.
Peter is not a mean person.
Peter is a very kind person, and he is trying to do his best.
Even when he's sick, he still tries to act as if it is a normal thing.
Please dont block him.

Hi my friend.
This is Peter.
Listen
Even though, you don't believe that i have been sick, I think, the reason I have been able to do so much, is because, my God has blessed me.
You mean a lot to me, and I couldn't sleep because, I was thinking about you, and how kind you were to me, in all these days.
i'm still on a ventilator but I am able to sit up, and write.
I'm trying t do my best.
I put one of ur videos on my page. Please be my friend.

Well, I WOULD NOT DO IT IF IT WAS ON A PATIENT.
I'de do it if it was on ME.
Or, if the hose wasn't hooked up, but there was a cap on the end of it.
Because, I care MUCH MORE ABOUT EVERYONEELSE'S HEALTH, THAN MINE.
I'll get HURT, before I let someone else get HURT.

When you put me on a conventional ventilator, SEDATE ME COMPLETELY.

ALS DMD are the top candidates at this point...

Hey, Lori?
How do you think, I would have reacted if I were going to get to see this in real life?
Well, NO DOUBT, I WOULD BE UP THERE, Participating in it.
I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HELP IT.
I WOULD BE TURNING KNOBS, dials, pushing buttons, etc.\
I WOULD HAVE HAD MY HANDS ALL OVER THE MACHINE. I LOVE HFOV.
