Something around 67 people were arrested and WERE going to be tried as witches, but Gov. Phips banned the courts that were trying them, and the prisoners were let free.
i learned in scholl. that 2 find out if someone is a witch that they would throw them in the water... if they died then they werent witches. if they were witches then they would live... most of them died
i think that the water test is so idiotic because if you realize afterwards that they died then you would have killed an inocent woman. They usually didn't use the water test but if it was "necassary" in their minds then they did it.
Puritans are crazy! They think theyre doing the right thing but theyre starting a mad hysteria named the Salem Witch Trials!! Some Ministers quitted on the trials because of all these killings! oh and i feel so bad for Rebecca Nurse! She was real old but the afflicted girls said that Nurse was torturing them! Come on? Nurse seemed so INNOCENT! Shes a grandma! :/
all the puritans i know are crazy: they say they are witches (even though their ancestors were witch-killers), they say crazy things (aka "spells"), etc etc.
puritans are evil people! DO NOT GO NEAR THEM!!!!!! [cant believe some are proud to be related to killers]
Puritans were insane!! what a stain to have on ones family tree. some are proud of theyre Puritan ancestory, and it boggles the mind as to why. why be proud of theological maniacs as bad as any Taliban!!
In Salem, Massuchussetts during the late seventeenth century it became common practice to accuse people (mainly young women, but people of both genders and all ages were accused) of witchcraft and to kill them. Various reasons to accuse others of witchcraft were that they were disliked politicians or locals, economically better off than others, of a different religion, socially backwards, or sometimes someone accused of being a witch would accuse someone else to get out of trouble.
@tweethang1 This is starting to be amusing. Every Salem-related video I look at, it seems, has one of your immature comments. Historically, many Christians in and around Salem in 1692 opposed the trials, even minsters. This tragedy wasn't about religion, but about fear. Religion only dictated the direction it took. And, while there have been and still are those who use the Bible to justify cruelty, many if not most Christians are perfectly ordinary, decent people. Think before you type, friend.
@tweethang1 Westboro Baptist Church is revolting, yes. As for Palin... Frankly, I think she's just not too bright. Brains frozen from living in Alaska, maybe. But not every Christian is like that, you know? Can you assume that every member of every church in every denomination feels the same way? To do so is far too simplistic. I know Christians who range from liberal to conservative, some who are tactless and angry, and others who are among the kindest folks I know. Just like everybody else.

This isn't very accurate with the death tolls.
A total of 25 people were actually killed.
Something around 67 people were arrested and WERE going to be tried as witches, but Gov. Phips banned the courts that were trying them, and the prisoners were let free.

Agh if they confessed they still would have been put to death... Idiot

I don't know if it's a stain on ones family tree. Realize this one so long ago. People then didn't know, they weren't educated as we are now.
