Short clip from Bobby Bare. Truly one of the greats - reads a song as well as Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins or Conway. Maybe 'the original outlaw' before Waylon & Willie - Bare turned up live and performed without any flash like a small rock band would. Bare could write, certainly could choose great songs and the understated delivery served him well.
Just saw Bobby Bare Fishing at lake Panasoffkee Fla. he still looks good and I talked with him every day when I got in from work One of the nicess people youd want to meet
I seen the guy in concert when I was a kid back in the 80's. This is the kind of music that makes you feel and think. These studio dubbed no talent spoiled brats couldn't carry a tune in a bucket and they aren't fit to be on the same stage as the legends.
he is one of the legends that I will never forget. My dad sung this song to me when I was just a little girl and he will always be in my heart with this song God Bless
Strange - decades earlier in the black and white TV production, the backup singers messed him up with wrong lyrics and in this one, the bass player is totally lost; like he prepared to do it in a different key than G.
@isoarcars the bass player did fine when the song went to the key of G, it was when the song was in the key of D where the bass player screwed up, never the less Bobby Bare sings just as good as he did years ago!
i love this song....eventhough hes old,,he can still sing it well...love u lolo, ganda ng kanta nyo!my father always sings this song...i miss him for that..tc papa! see u soon!
He sounds a little rough with his vocals here... i saw him at the Stafford Centre in Houston Tx a couple years ago... he sounded much better than this...i was 5 rows back... he was awesome!
I wish Nashville (The "Grand" Ole Opry would have a LEGENDS REUNION! I'd luv to see Bobby Bare, Stonewall Jackson, Lynn Anderson, Little Jimmy Dickens, Mel Tillis, Jerry Reed, Dolly would be too big for that I'll bet, but the list could go on & on.
If I had the cash flow, I'd do this myself... (Pardon any typos... I'm sleepy)
I am a bass player and the guy does miss some changes at first. Anyone doing a gig at a casino is bound to be pro. Perhaps Bobby was sitting in with the band for the first time or there were no charts given out ahead of time and they were winging it.
