are people really that stupid? I mean, c'mon people I did like 2 years of research before I finally got my CCW here in New York. When I bought my first Glock, the woman I bought it from thought I had been handling them for years b/c I had researched everything about them before I got it. my favorite was my buddy loaded up his Barretta 92 fs wondering why it would fire but not run the action. So I take the weapon and drop the mag and clear it as I rack the slide back I see two rounds hit the dirt. Hmmm I wondered so I look at the mag a give it a wiggle and 2 more rounds fall out. I looked at him and he said what what is it? He had loaded 380 rounds in to his 9mm

Up here in Canada, we are required to have a firearms license before we can purchase and possess firearms. As someone who works with firearms and selling them to the public on a near daily basis, THANKFULLY I haven't come across any incidents like this yet.
I'm a range officer at one of the local ranges here. We're open to the public and that's where most all of the yahoos come from. TWICE within about two months I've had to intervene before someone blew up their AR-15's from obstructed bores. They did their damnedest to beat the bolt closed all the way and that's what got my attention. One had a squib that got lodged in the barrel throat and the other was a cleaning patch waded up in the throat. Well, you know what would have happened.......
@Lyc4n1121 Barry can't get rid of me, I'm the producer.... :)
It depends of the gripe we are doing....Sometimes I have a little more to say, sometimes not so much. You always have the option of just not watching the video at all.
I agree with this video I have seeen a lot in the 28 years I have shot. Muzzle sweeps discharges. and a lot of other things. Now only one time in 28 years have someone new to shooting asked for help. She got her purchase permit and even took a class on gun safety.. She came to the range set up on a bench and then did something odd. She appoarched me and said she was new with shooting and could I help her and make sure she did everything right. I spent the next 2 hours with her and help her.
This was great. I deal with these same people down the road in McDonough. I hade one guy come in and buy the cheapest 9mm ammo we carried which happened to be 9x18 makarov. Then come back that night with 2 jammed pistols one sig and one glock. Told me how awful out ammo was and how he has worked with guns his whole career. He wanted us to pay for a gun smith to unjam his gun. I kindly informed him that his gun jammed because he was using the wrong ammo. Not bad ammo. I even asked w
You have your points which everyone should agree on, but I need to mention a few things. Being condescending to people who come into your shop only drives away business. If you are helpful, friendly, and welcoming to people then you are more likely to have repeat business. Yes, there are people who are newbies to firearms, but the more legal citizens buying firearms, the better for everyone and for your business. Educating helps all gun owners. This is just douchebaggery and you know it.
Biggest point in this video, read the manual, ask questions, don't just assume you'll figure it out. This thing is a weapon, not a toy, don't assume anything if you don't know, ask, its better to have a stupid question then to have a stupid coffin.
One question had for the guys, is there any way to get a manual for a weapon that you don't own? one that your looking at purchasing and wondering if its a gun for you, is there a way to get the manual to look at it?
when i was 12 i bought my first bb rifle when i got home i justed opened it didnt even ready the manual i didnt knew why it wouldnt shoot i thought it was broken then i finally read the instuctions because i was going to return it turns out you have to pump first the manual does work and i was thinking how stupid are these people then realised i was stupid to
People read every word on a pack of "sugarless" gum, but they don't read the manual of a $ 35,000.00 car they buy. They come back complaining about many things not working right about their car. Much of them only needs common sense. One example is a "Runaway" Lexus. When a car don't slow down and keep accelerating on the Freeway, just put it in "Neutral", step on the brake, steer the car to safety, but NEVER turn it off. The engine has to be running for better steering and brake control.
REALLY? "We refuse the right to sell to anyone." Heard of that sign before? Complain about the people who support yur family, but do not put forth the effort for you or your sales force to think before making the buck. I agree with some being idiots when it comes to guns. But come on now. Gun safety is the resposibility of those at the "range" as well as those at the store and the ones buying. You are the smart one to decide if the sell is final. Or should be. Use your Headspace owner.
im shocked at this..... that people are that senseless... im 17 and i got taught the minimum safety taught myself to hunt and everything and never had any of these issues... or anything close...
I think that as gun dealers you guys should make sure to show your customers certain aspects of the guns you are selling them. After all, you guys are self proclaimed experts..right? Both of you are getting a bit preachy lately. I like it better when you jyst shoot and talk less. We know you have a gun shop and firearms knowledge. Remember you were beginners to once. And by the way...shooting an m249 into a wall to prove someone wrong about open bolt weapons is dumb as hell. Stick to shooting.
Reloading bullets backwards into the magazine haha, not knowing that you need to pull a trigger to fire a gun :O You got some pretty smart customers ;)
Im sure the owner instructed these people on the basics of the firearm. Im also sure that they mentioned the danger involved (the danger part almost goes without saying). I have seen many gun dealers offering gun safety courses and requesting that a new gun owner attend these courses before using the gun (the guns manual will tell you this). As someone metioned earlier; dont purchase something that could cause fatal injury; without getting proper training or at least reading instructions. I
@79thOVI I didn't mention it in the video, but we offer classes for people who want to learn to use and maintain their firearm properly. I'd say that less than 10 percent actually go through with the class. Most of them say " I just want to pull it and scare someone and I have no intention of actually shooting it"
Hell.....That shit will get you killed worse than not having a gun at all.
And exactly how much pre-knowledge is required to know its a good idea to read the manual of ANY tool that you don't fully understand? I work in IT, and out of all the questions I get on how to use a new piece of equipment, my first question is "Did you read the instructions?", and 9 times out of 10 the answer is "No." Attempting to use a printer without doing your homework is one thing, but attempting to use a gun without doing your homework...its just DC dumb. Pride is usual cause of ignorance
After all these gun gripes and your many, many hours of working with these stupid people the thing that surprises me the most is that YOU still sell guns to them. Then proceed to ridicule them to not know the same things that someone else showed YOU. I full well believe that you were born knowing all of this information so clearly shame on them for not having your level of knowledge.
I notice in the bottom right of the video "Negligent Discharges" there was a P90 with an extended barrel and in this video it's not there. Was it sold? If so shame as I was looking at that gun with hopes of owning it. P.S I love the videos. Keep em coming x
Do one on people who buy a gun and then complain about it, such as, "I bought this gun for concealed carry, but the grip is so small, it's hard to shoot", or "I bought a 357 but I usually only carry 38SP in it since the recoil is so bad, but it's heavy".
Not pulling the trigger is a technique to significantly reduce cleaning time! It's also a lot more cost efficient if you don't pull the trigger... :-D
typical gun shop worker banter, shitty attitude......Gun shop geeks think everyone is a regular shooter and well, not all people are experienced ...I buy 20 guns a year approx but even I had a NOOB time period and you know,we have a store that treated me like you guys and guess what I shop elsewhere - Had he been more charitable with his expert HEADSPACE he would have my biz for life but he lacked SALEMANSHIP headspace ...Like u all seem too..good luck!
@excelerater very well said and sums up exactly how and where I shop for firearms. I have amassed a collection since 1981. That's a lot of cash tied up. And most of it was bought new from only a few select stores. The reason, I liked the owners and staff and have even paid a bit more to buy it from them! Because I know they will service what they sell and talk to me like an equal not a dummy like this "Bearded Wonder" in this video. Little man, big ego lol.
Oke, i'm not the end all to all gun experts but come on, a dude that loads his rounds backwards, and some woman that thinks her revolver is broken, because she doesnt know that you hafto pull the trigger?? that should be illigal for those people to carry / own firearms, this just rediculouse, can't believe folks are that stupid
You aren't even kidding about people loading magazines backwards. Twice in the last year I have assisted new, frustrated gun owners with this very issue at my local range. New glocks bought just that day, both times. After showing them correct way to load their magazine, I suggested that they immediately take the gun home (unloaded) read their manual thoroughly, then look into taking a basic pistol safety course before doing anything else with it. At-least one of the two did just that. TFTV!
As a man selling guns you are making a highly dangerous assumption that every American that walks into the gunstore can READ lol. Yes you have the 2nd Ammendment and I think it's awesome. Regarding the American Education System, I have 2 words, MAGIC JOHNSON.
He had a University Degree issued in the USA. Please for the love of all that is holy, take the time to give every customer all the "customer service" they need and if they're stupid, no sale.
That is hillarious but kinda of scary. Maybe those people were just messin with you or joking with you? Loading the magazine backwards? Did not know to pull the trigger? That is pretty scary. They should not own a firearm.
@Keneva1029 Can't really say that 'sarcastic' applies when dealing with a lady who doesn't know what a trigger's for - or a fellow who loads his rounds in backwards. These people *should* be made to feel stupid (and those likely to emulate them.)
A little bit of humour goes a long way to making lessons easier to digest - and *stick*. Anyone who's ever dealt with Joe Public in any customer service or retail/sales capacity has the same horror stories - often told the exact same way.
Thanks for the video. A lot of people need to see your gun gripe videos. I find your channel very good in a old school kinda way You would think people would read their instruction manual if they are going to buy a weapon. A good example is the the new Ruger 22 semi that has a safety that locks safe opposite to a 1911. Ya best know which way is safe and which is not. It can throw even an experienced person off. Read the manual. Learn how it works before you load it.
The biggest gripe is people that load ammunition in a clip so the round is facing them and people that don't know you need to pull a trigger to fire a gun have the option of purchasing a gun. I am all for gun rights and ownership but some people are just so dumb it is scary.
I bought an 1893/97 IAC shotgun at a gun show. Supposedly "NIB" but it came in just a cardboard box (with the foam insert) and I've seen them come with a much fancier box with writing and stuff on it. It didn't have a manual. I've got an original 1897 so I already knew how to take it apart and everything but I really would like to know more about the gun (what the manufacturer/importer has to say). I'll look online for a PDF document.
@Griff6789 ??? All you can do is answer questions asked by your customer, and/or guide him in the right direction if he asks your advice. You can't mind read. You can't assume the buyer knows a lot or a little. He asks - you answer. Everyone strives to give the customer the best fit - but that's based on a back-and-forth you just don't *get* with a lot of customers. It's also not your job to *interrogate* your customer under the bright lights.
@WolfBrat No, they told him the magazine held 6 rounds. They neglected to tell him there was a plug in it that made it only hold 3 rounds. How was he supposed to know that? If I sold you a car that had a V8 engine but only 4 spark plugs installed and didn't mention that fact, wouldn't you be kind of mad at me?
@Iraqveteran8888 I disagree. Going to one basic gun training before buying a gun is not making it hard for people to obtain firearms. It's like driving. You take a class learning how to shoot before you can buy a gun is better than shooting yourself in the foot or worst kill someone else. It got nothing to do with the govrt. I'm pro gun but I do believe there is a need to require new owner to at least take a class on basic firearm training.
@jackt53 The problem is when government starts mandating things like this it opens the floodgates wide open and pretty soon you have to "prove" your need and spend YEARS training.
Firearms negligence can be addressed with a simple and voluntary program in public school. Just like sex ed.
@jackt53 I agree. I hate 99.999% of Canadian gun laws. But that .001% I like is the requirement to take a half day course and exam on laws, gun safety and proper gun handling. It covers all common types of sporting arms. You can also take a second half day course that cover handguns. I love it because overhearing conversations in the gunstores I can hear people have a clue about shooting and firearms.
I can't believe how stupid those people were, buying stuff they don't know anything about and then disregard the manual. sometimes I wish people like that shoot themselves in the knee just to wake them up from their stupidity.
This video is not aimed at those that know what they are doing, though unfortunately those that really need the information provide will not have the where with all to watch it, just as they do not read the manual. It is the responsiblity of every grandfather/father/mother to teach their child how to safely handle a gun.
Funny how you have to pull the trigger to fire a gun.... and here we were told by the media that it was the guns killing people all along! Good god golly gee that's strange.... I may have to put further research into this subject matter! (Note sarcastic voice)
When I was at the range one time in basic I was attempting to zero my M16 and my spotter/battlebuddy was the one loading the magazines and I was waiting for the next one and he said he couldnt get the rounds loaded. Well I looked over and he had a 20 round mag and couldnt tell which way to load it and had about 5 rounds loading in it backwards.
@Iraqveteran8888 My theory is that a photographer who was inexperienced with firearms was simply given the gun and some accessories and told to take some pictures. You never know though, maybe it was a joke.
@LifeisGood762 wwwstrategypagecom/gallery/images/reliability.jpg. This is the best image i could find, but it was on the front of an H&K Catalog back a few years ago.
I worked at gun store/shooting range for 7yrs and one of the things I got tired of explaining was while one was looking at a NEW handgun they would look down the barrel and say "This gun ain't new it's been shot already." How about adress that in one of your "Gun Gripes"
Reading the manual is one thing... but some of those stories you told in this video.... wow! They must have taken the short bus to and from your store...
the lady transporting the gun with the hammer cocked, is proof that guns aren't inherently dangerous...by all accounts, she probably should have had an accident....
keep up the good work! I like the vids it has taught me a lot and have fun watching u guys have fun. I just recently bought a gun my self so the vids are very informative. I am currently working on a scope mount for my mosin with out any permanent mods to the gun. I have been a machinist for 10 years now and having fun making this mount.
some people who have absolutely no idea how a gun should work shouldn't be able to purchase one. the woman with the revolver story blew my mind. now i know some people are stupid but goddamn! that's like a whole new level of stupid. i guess not everyone can have awesome dads who teach you how to safely fire a gun!
I used to do tech support for computers. This video reminds me of a common saying we had: "There is a short between the keyboard and the chair."
Same basic problem: If you are going to spend a bunch of money on something, get some training FIRST. Hopefully before you buy it, because having knowledge will affect WHAT you spend your hard earned money on. But esp. before you shoot it. At least computer idiots won't kill themselves or others.
Didnt know to pull the trigger...Really???? People like that are the dangerous ones...they will go to a range, and cant get it to fire, next thing you know, they are walking all around with a loaded gun and any moment, they pull that trigger and somebody is getting hurt or killed. And how the hell do you load not 1 BUT 2 magazines backwards? Didnt he realize he was struggling a little to hard to load them in the first place?
I try to have a safety and familiarization session with anyone I have invited to the range. It saves time on the range if I can reduce the information gap in the operator headspace first.
I actually had to help a guy at the range who had loaded his ammunition backwards in the magazine. I couldn't believe it, I thought he was just messing with me until I watched this video! - LOL
i live in MA and the laws are just plain stupid hear, but one thing I am glad about is we require people to take a basic safety course. but idk how she doesn't know that you need to pull the trigger :/
Do people purchasing firearms in your state have to take any kind of test, or go threw a Firearms 101 class before they can actually take possession of the firearm? If not they should at least have to take a VERY basic class...IMO
WOW, the woman who didn't realize the trigger had to be pulled on the simplest handgun there is (a revolver), that just takes the cake I literally fell over laughing when I herd that. I would love to hear more stories of "Operator Headspace", make it a series & film/ document the people who have the problems like not knowing how to open his box of ammo! LMAO!!
I'm as pro gun as they come but it bothers me that someone owns a gun and doesn't know that you have to pull the trigger to make it go bang. Wouldn't be surprised if she was in her house trying to shoot it.

Both of you are getting a bit preachy lately. I like it better when you jyst shoot and talk less. We know you have a gun shop and firearms knowledge. Remember you were beginners to once. Im sure the owner instructed these people on the basics of the firearm. Im also sure that they mentioned the danger involved (the danger part almost goes without saying). @79thOVI I didn't mention it in the video, but we offer classes for people who want to learn to use and maintain their firearm properly. @excelerater very well said and sums up exactly how and where I shop for firearms. I have amassed a collection since 1981. That's a lot of cash tied up. And most of it was bought new from only a few select stores. The reason, I liked the owners and staff and have even paid a bit more to buy it from them! TFTV!

Griff6789 4 weeks ago 2
@Griff6789 ??? All you can do is answer questions asked by your customer, and/or guide him in the right direction if he asks your advice. You can't mind read. You can't assume the buyer knows a lot or a little. He asks - you answer. Everyone strives to give the customer the best fit - but that's based on a back-and-forth you just don't *get* with a lot of customers. It's also not your job to *interrogate* your customer under the bright lights.
WolfBrat 4 weeks ago
@WolfBrat No, they told him the magazine held 6 rounds. They neglected to tell him there was a plug in it that made it only hold 3 rounds. How was he supposed to know that? If I sold you a car that had a V8 engine but only 4 spark plugs installed and didn't mention that fact, wouldn't you be kind of mad at me?
Griff6789 3 weeks ago
@Griff6789 By reading the manual. It was stated over and over again.
Kabong30 3 weeks ago
@Iraqveteran8888 I disagree. Going to one basic gun training before buying a gun is not making it hard for people to obtain firearms. It's like driving. You take a class learning how to shoot before you can buy a gun is better than shooting yourself in the foot or worst kill someone else. It got nothing to do with the govrt. I'm pro gun but I do believe there is a need to require new owner to at least take a class on basic firearm training.
jackt53 4 weeks ago
@jackt53 The problem is when government starts mandating things like this it opens the floodgates wide open and pretty soon you have to "prove" your need and spend YEARS training.
Firearms negligence can be addressed with a simple and voluntary program in public school. Just like sex ed.
AngeredKabar 4 weeks ago
@jackt53 I agree. I hate 99.999% of Canadian gun laws. But that .001% I like is the requirement to take a half day course and exam on laws, gun safety and proper gun handling. It covers all common types of sporting arms. You can also take a second half day course that cover handguns. I love it because overhearing conversations in the gunstores I can hear people have a clue about shooting and firearms.
