Sadly, for the time, this was acceptable. It's not now. Wow, it's horrible. But, for the time, they thought it okay. My how people have grown. I prefer the modern way of thinking.
Actually, this is acceptable today if you're not deluded by what 'some' people perceive and will have you perceive as politically correct.
This is a cartoon, people realized this back then. Due to lack of proper parenting today and the like, people don't realize this as much now. 'grown'... to ignore humor and stifle creativity(Tex Avery was a genius), stifle our basic instincts, is not what most people would consider growth. I would consider this 'regression' But to each their own!
@thranir Well said Thranir! I always take the advice given by a British comic editor years ago: Remember, cartoon characters do not have to stay within the bounds of reality... YOU DO! Provided we remember that, "non-PC" material in cartoons is not a problem.
