  • johnny marr looks so fucking cool when he's playing nowhere fast

  • pissed my self at 6.53

  • I know it was stylish at the time, but, man, that's quite the hair-do that Johnny has...

  • Thanks so much for uploading this. Moz is in great form here. Brilliant studio footage.

  • No dislikes !!

  • Morrissey looks so pretty in this lighting. Especially the "woah woah" at the end.

  • How come Marr hasn't aged at all? Can someone explain to me?!?!

  • @GreenGrayRain no meat

  • @ifthisisaman What about Morrissey then?

  • Even though Morrissey wrote about serious political issues back then he seemed at leat in interviews much happier than he apprears today.. He seems to have grown quite bitter over the years.

  • love how marr has a fag on whilst recording :)

  • Can anywhere hear what Johnny says at 4.35? or Morrissey's reply? I love that Morrissey mirrors his body language with the shoulder scratching!

  • love it..

  • beautiful interview, morrissey looks happy, love it, The smiths forever

  • 5:26

morrissey: if someone said I was a rock n roller or whatever...

    johnny marr:...incurable macho

morrissey (grinning): well, they'd never say that

    best part of the video

  • Marr doing Keith Richards.

  • Marr's hair defies the laws of, well.. everything

  • God Moz seems so up his own arse in this, but at the same time soooo attractive. Love him.

  • OMFG BEST BAND EVER. Their accents are exquisite

and that footage of Moz and Marr recording Nowhere Fast is fascinating.

  • Golden.

  • I liked it and I will embed it in some future html essay. Thank you!

  • DONT FORGET ABOUT ANDY ROURKE.

  • 3:28 - 3.36 is unbelievably creepy

  • @rachaelwithoutthea It's like a scene from 'The Wicker Man'.

  • Vastly underrated rhythm section

  • Superb upload, thanks!

  • Morrissey is beautiful.

  • 3:34 is the best transition ever. From Mike Joyce's creepy staring to Morrissey's smiling face. Mike is such a creep lol.

  • Doesn't Johhny Marr eat meat or am I wrong?

  • @Nigelxman he's a vegan :)

  • @maggsayy I seem to remember an early Smith's interview when Johnny was enjoying a meat pie. :-)

  • @Nigelxman well then that was before he was a vegan

  • @Nigelxman Marr ate meat like any other person, but Morrissey slowly changed him during Meat is Murder (the album), whether Marr eats meat at all nowadays I don't know, but I know for sure he ate it a lot less during his tenure in The Smiths

  • @MiK3i

I remember reading that Marr is still a vegan. You Tube will not let me post a link. But do a search on it and you will find some recent articles. I get the feeling Marr does it more for health reasons. He is very much into running and fitness.

  • @bigfatuglypig33 i looked it up. pretty interesting! thanks

  • @MiK3i I think Marr gave up meat in '83 but he was still eating fish for quite a while after, I remember reading that tuna sandwiches were on his rider on the '85 tour. By '86 he was fully veggie and then he gave up dairy and went vegan in 2005. He's out-vegged Moz lol!

  • @amyjohnson207 nice bit of info there. thanks!!! lol :)

  • I'm glad they quit when they did...forever embalmed perfection.

  • never get bored of this, one of the best videos of the smiths

  • The still of the guy at the end completes this video.

  • Johnny Marr. What a master.

  • The interviewer looks like Nicholas Hoult

  • hallelujah!...at last, a worthwhile use of youtube!

    this is my holy grail.

    i can now die happy!

  • One of the greatest bands of all Time!!! and to this day there is not a day I don't listen to The Smiths!!!

  • johnny mar has a keith richards feel about him dont he?

  • don´t you think he looks a bit like young elvis some angles?!

  • Sweet beehive hairdo there, Johnny.

  • their music is timeless.. It will still be around a thousand years from now. all the bullshit disintegrated to dust. real. so beautiful.

  • Morrissey's expression after the explanation of the songwriting process at 3:03 is like saying: "See? Simple as that..."

  • I think this is the first time I have ever seen Morissey laugh at some one elses joke apart from his own when the interviewer ask about the 'meat eating member of the monarchy'

  • Most interesting video on The Smiths I've ever seen - thanks so much for sharing!

  • who is the interviewer?

  • I enjoy this video because in it I think Morrissey comes off as rather charming and more down-to-earth (or at least, as close to earth as is possible for him) compared to later vids showing that he's turned rather arrogant and crotchety

  • 4.32 strange to see Morrissey listening to himself singing.

  • anyone who suggests the "Miserable" term clearly has no idea what the smiths have done for so many people, mainly young people like myself. It's supposed to be humorous and funny yet have the serious relateable slant also, the best writer ever morrissey, not a man of self pity in any way, just a man of reflection and realisation of a deep and awful loneliness and music is an outlet, a way of coping with lack of love and success in love, I certainlly haven't had any so far!

  • @benjaminrichardshoop yeah it really does annoy me when people call morrissey/the smiths 'miserable'.

  • and someone always gets stabbed

    with houmor

  • Any young man would know what I mean...that would be a whole other meaning

  • Johnny Marr is damn hot...<3

  • the guy interviewing them looks like Paul McCartney.

  • 3:36 if anyone looked at me like that, I would be theirs forever.

  • I have just realized that my dentist looks like Johnny Marr. I'm in awe!

  • loved every track on it but meat is murder...ive got everything they ever did..

  • Watching Johnny Marr here reminds me a bit of Alex Turner..

  • @2003SCT agreed.

    80's :)

  • that was great!

  • 3:28 to 3:36

    I LOL'D

  • I wonder what he thought of Andrew Eldritch.

  • the smiths are a gift from the gods...

  • @KillYourTeeVee More like God is a gift from the Smiths

  • What AWESOME footage! The boys making "Meat is Murder"...very COOL! I was wondering if there was any "making album in the studio" footage of these guys. Thanks for posting Winemouth! : )

  • Joyce's stone-cold face doing the drums, hilarious

  • Wow Paul McCartney must have been short on dough if he had to interview these fops during the 80s!

  • mike's face when he's playing the bongos is brilliant haha

  • Yay Nowhere Fast, probably my favourite Smiths song

  • Andy Rourke <3

  • thanks for posting nigga!

  • and brilliant album. fantastic lyrics and fantastic guitar especially. but that's a given, seeing as they have both Morrissey and Johnny Marr lol

  • lol the way Morrissey talks, he could come off as such a snob.

and yet he is still so amazing and endearing (to me, at least).

  • VIVA THE SMITHS!!!

  • mozza and marr= genius....and very hot! x how ignorant are some people....miserable and suicidal.....ffs....idiots!

  • mozza and marr= genius....and very hot! x

  • 3:29 bongos. bitch.

  • Is anyone else getting creeped out by Mike Joyce staring at them?! lol

  • @tncl85 OMG yes. lol...and those bongos too! xD

  • *_*

  • "Each household aplliance is like a new science in my town". one of my favourite lyrics

  • Supreme, never seen it before.

  • I could watch them in the studio for days. Andy Rourke was such a fantastic bass player. And THIS is a Morrissey I could imagine having a pleasant chat with. Overall it gives me a sense of loss that we no longer have bands like this and music is just pure product now.

  • Mike Joyce looks demented on them bongo`s!

  • Really enjoyed this! Thanks!

  • Vintage Interview! Marr & Morrissey, will these blokes ever reunite?

It would be a SELL OUT TOUR!! No harm in dreaming....

  • Moz at :10 X)

  • Mike playing the bongos! So much love. *sigh* Its kind of sucky that I'll never be able to see my most favourite band in the world play live but that's life I suppose. They were what they were, when they were and it was beautiful while it lasted.

  • That last cut right at the end to the host with the seedy grin - I actually burst out laughing!

This is a really great clip, which, somehow, I've never seen before.

  • @KingAndrew00 exactly! his expression perfectly sums up the feeling i got from that performance of Nowhere Fast

  • johnny marr is fucking cool, cooler than justin biebur

  • @pstrokeslibsarctic Never put Johnny Marr and that thing in the same sentence. Thanks.

  • @Khold90 true, idk why i did tht lol

  • This video is especially brilliant just for Mike Joyce's intense and uncomfortable stareout during the bongo's on I Want The One I Can't Have! Brilliant!

  • mmmmmmmmm..morrissey.. he sucks now :/ he didn't have to go solo to make a living.

  • two of the best haircuts ever

  • @joedivision1992 You sound like an incredibly deep person.

  • @Nigelxman and you sound like an incredibly boring person x

  • @joedivision1992 Why, because my love for the Smiths goes slightly beyond their haircuts? :-) Yeah that makes sense. Well done.

  • @Nigelxman it must be terrible not to have a sense of humor x

  • esta es la verdad que antepongo a la bazofia folk pop española. el talento sí se encaprichó con estos chicos

  • OMG There's a burger advert next to the video. Oh so very ironic.

  • Hahaha - 'especially in these serious times', such a pisstaker.

  • this is awesome

  • Moz has such beautiful blue eyes! so dreamyyy :)

i love it when he smiles at 3:38

and Johnny looking so cool, strumming and smoking his cigarette
