This is absolutely beautiful. The music combination with the moves, the fluidness to all the movement the minimalism of only two dancers. wow absolutely amazing.
The title "Apetalous", meaning a flower with no petals, is profound being that the dancers started out without pedals and by the end the dancers each brought multiple handfuls of pedals to the stage.
This meant as each dancer tried to bring outside influences (the pedals) into their life, the other resists until the end where they dance in unison and the two dancers remove the barrier between them (the mirror) and finally become one. This choreographic work by Shelby Curtis is wonderful.
What an amazing performance. I enjoyed the use of only two props, it allowed the viewers to really focus on the dancers. Both the lighting and music helped set the mood and the dancers added such a free and dramatic energy to the performance; I enjoyed watching this!
This piece was gorgeous. I love the use of the mirror, acting as if it is her only companion. It is almost as if the mirror image comes to life as the other dancer enters the stage. The lighting was great, giving an almost isolated affect. I also loved the dramatic music and the conceptual, contemporary style of the piece as a whole.
I like the combination of the music and the dance, the way of using props ( the girls are dancing in petals even its title is apetalous, the relationship of a mirror and the title and their corresponding and synchro movements), their repetitive motions and the costume which reminds of me a apetalous flower.
I felt this was a depiction of a story of one girl with two lives. One is her life as she sees it, and the other is the life in her mind which consists of thoughts in a daydream type state. There are moments when her life actually reflects what she dreams or has been dreaming (when you see both dancers in sync with one another). Then in the end, both lives are joined, as if the dancer had been brought back to reality.
I thoroughly enjoyed the piece and thought it was very modern and precise.
This was a very beautiful piece. I like the uniqueness of the mirror prop. The dancers performed brilliantly. The Choreographer had a great perception with the lighting and the dramatic grace from the dancers. Intelligent work!
This routine is very beautiful. i really enjoyed the synchronicity between the two girls. Their movement had such a flow that was almost mechanical clockwork in my opinion, but that was one of the coolest parts! ^_^ thanks for sharing this!
Beautiful! Very well choreographed. Where was this performed? I'd like to go sometime. It's amazing what some people can do with their bodies. I'm so jealous. Haha! The 2 girls dancing in sync was very creative and kept it interesting. I wish the lighting were better though. Keep up the great work!
The choreography was excellent the routine was dramatic and intriguing, i loved the mirror it added a beautiful touch to the set, the routine was done well, i have never seen anything like this but it is unique and beautiful all in one, great job!
The choreography was amazing and the technique was great. The flow is very free and energetic. The changing of levels also makes it more amusing. I really liked it and the music was also great.
It amazes me that people can actually bend their bodies in such a graceful way. I'm an awe of dancers and what they can do. I think my favorite portion of this peice was the way the two girls were almost entirely in sync. To move fulidly is one thing, but to move fluidly with another person takes skill. My favorite move is at 0:54-0:56seconds.
I really liked the music and i enjoyed the routine. i enjoyed it because it was different than any other dance routine ive ever seen. i liked the way the set was designed with the flowers and the mirror and the lighting. my favorite part was when the two dancers moved in unison. very nice
