This was just plain laziness on the part of Sierra/Vivendi/Universal. As popular as the Galactica franchise has been, you would expect a way better game. They could have at least licensed "Beyond the Red Line" and its engine.
I dunno, BSG seemed to be more of a gunfights in space, rather than ships shooting missiles at each other, which is what BtRL seemed to do. Diaspora seems more promising in my book.
No redeeming qualities about this game . Garbage . Yes I paid the $5 for it .

Well the game was made in 2003...
Rarely somebody knew about BSG except the people that watched in 1979.
Also the developers probavly dint had much cash and they were probavly new to video game industry...
