@chris96kalonji Its a good thing nobody asked for your opinion. AKs were designed with much shorter users in mind, and collapsible buttstocks bring more utlity to the weapon.

@appleloverr Search youtube for videos, you can get smoke from 100 or so rounds, fire after maybe 300 or so(?) with rapid fire, even rapid fire from semi auto.

There's a video of an sks smoking quickly, and it has a 10 round internal magazine and is stripper clip fed, so lots of long pauses to cool a bit.

@appleloverr True but on its way to burnning it just gets really hot and not to mention that its heavier then most composite parts and it more effected by Water and what not. Also it is much easier to mount lights, lasers etc.

i feel that everyone should stop trying to make very complicated guns and change every gun or atleast replace , cause most assault rifles have been the same for very very long aks, m16's and m4's, scar etc there should be someone making a new weapon which is efficient as an ak and with more improvements like more fire rate and stuff and not make it so complicated.

@thundersaver Why do you think that is? because they are proven platforms. they are making new guns and upgrading the old ones, SCAR, ACR, Tar-21, are all upgrade simpler to clean and what not compaired to the older versions of their guns.(M16/M4, and Styer AUG or FAMAS) an AK will stand the test of time because of reliability and 100's of millions being made since 1947 it doesnt get much simpler than a AK

Wood is fun but it heats up to fast and is more of a prob then a help. With the plastic parts it's a lot easier to shoot for longer and not have to worry about burning your hand off.

@Shadowhunter712 I prefer plastic, but plastic parts get just as hot as wood and they get hot faster, even with the metal heat shield in the lower handguard my SGL-21 gets hot very quickly. Plastic will also melt after fewer rounds through it, it takes a lot to damage wood in terms of heat.

Plastic is used on modern weapons because it is cheap, can be easily mass produced uniformly, and can handle impact better than wood. It does get hot and it does melt quicker than wood will get hot or burn.

@deadheadbiker hmmmm I dont know where you got that but I have shot Thousands on Thousands of rounds out of all kinds of Weapon Systems and I have never had a single plastic part ever fall off or even come close.

Now I dont know if you just saw something like this happen with just low quality stuff but I have never seen anything like that.

@Shadowhunter712 Are you sure? With my experience wood didn't heat up as fast and has never burned to the point where I couldn't hold them. That is not the case with polymer, it melts, and steel, it heats up like crazy. Just putting it out there.

@CommieforniaSurvivor Hmmmm No I have put a lot of rounds down range and as long as you stick to high quality gear I dont see why that would happen. A few reasons I rather polymer is that first of all it is much lighter then wood and is un effected by weather as well as much easier to mount accessories such as Lights, Lasers etc...

I have had wood get to the point to where I would rather not handle it but ifit came to it I could. I have never had wood burn on me however. Gotta be honest.
