no this is the ps2 remake of the 8 sound novels this one is called higurashi no naku koro ni matsuri and has another ending that is called miotsukushi-hen instead of matsuribayashi-hen and has 2 extra arcs called taraimawashi-hen and tsukiotoshi-hen it also has improved art and voice actors.
now I am not thinking of the soundnovels I have the sound novels and how they look like .
And the orginal matsuri game also has taraimawashi tsukiotoshi and miotsukoshi but keichii did not have a voice until one of the arcs started and the tips where left unvoiced they fixed that in matsuri kakera asobi
this is from wikipedia and it was copied BEFORE kakera asobi was realeased:
The PlayStation 2 port Matsuri differs from the original game series in that it includes full voice acting, redrawn CGs, and integration of the question arcs starring Keiichi into a single branching storyline. Matsuri includes the first seven PC arcs (Matsuribayashi-hen is excluded) and three original final arcs—Taraimawashi-hen, Tsukiotoshi-hen and Miotsukushi-hen. After the original seven arcs are cleared, the first two final arcs become available. Furthermore, when
When the PS2 ver of higurashi was made Matsuribayashi-hen wasnt finished so the ones who made the PS2 game had to make their own final arc, it basically is about Rika and Keiichi that together has to solve the problems of both onikakushi, watanagashi and tatarigoroshi (or was it tsumihoroboshi?) to defeat Takano, many belive this is the true end of higurashi since it sadder (Hanyuu dies) but its not true its non canon since it contradicts with saikoroshi-hen
@RingoAkai Actually no your very very wrong Matsuribayashi-hen was already finished. Higurashi Matsuri came out before Higurashi Kai. This game is a remake of Ni and Kai for the PC.
@AuskaNeumaki No you misunderstood me, when the developement of Matsuri began the last sound novel, Matsuribayashi-hen wasn't released yet. They got some of the notes from Ryukishi07 which is why the arks are both kinda similiar in some ways. But since Matsuribayashi-hen wasn't ready the had too start to write something on their own. Since matsuribayashi-hen was realeased 13/8 2006 and Matsuri 22/2 2007. They would only have had 6 months if they had waited for the realeae to make the art and so.
It's an alternate ending to the ending of Higurashi(Matsuribayashi-hen).
Hanyuu dies..But,it's still a happy ending, though I don't understand why,it seems pretty sad to me(there's nothing fun in Mion and Keiichi preparing for college..).
Many consider it the "true ending",even though it's a PS2 remake only chapter.
Don't get your hopes up anytime soon, there are hardly any sound novels outside of Japan.
;( Though,if more people brought the Higurashi dvds, and merchandise that Funimation sells..
Hm,I suppose, even if they are translated, the PC sound novels would be out first, then after all that, the PS2 sound novels, though that'll take long since those have to be dubbed and translated.
Umineko no Naku Koro is actually another visual novel by the creators of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni that will be made into an anime like FloorxHead said. And there is also the continuation of the series of Higurashi no Naku koro ni that is coming out in December called Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Rei. So both of you are right ^^
Gotta love the Matsuri makers and making the "perfect ending"(Perfect..yea right, this ending is sad, first Hanyuu dies, then they talk about college, then Higurashi "ends"...Hmph)!
That's why I like Matsuribayashi-hen better; it's just as realistic as this ending (realistic meaning it makes sense and fits) and it's a happier ending; although I wish Satoko at least knew about Satoshi...:(
Plus Matsuribayashi has all of them working together to beat Takano, instead of just Keiichi and Rika solving everyone's problems. D: But hey, this is where the "Satoshi in a coma" thing was introduced (although in the anime they put it in Matsuribayashi), and I heard this one has Mion and Keiichi on a date. XD
Well, since this is the Miotsukushi-hen, the Canal Drying Chapter, which is an alternative ending to the game instead of Matsuribayashi-hen, I'm not that sure. Wikipedia does not say much about it. All it says is that its "a bittersweet, but more meaningful ending".
I wanna play Higurashi on PS2, but i there is no English =.=''

Actually,this is Matsuri Kakera Asobi.
NaruhinaXSasusaku 2 years ago
yeah the expansion pack but it is the same game it just adds some voices and graphics
RingoAkai 2 years ago
Incorrect. This is an expansion pack of Matsuri,it just has new arcs.
You are thinking of the original novels, which were all seperate games you had to buy that all just went by the name of the series and the arc name.

@RingoAkai
Basically. It's non-canon since it wasn't made by the creators. Think of it as an AU from the main series.

I think I'm going to cry.
NaruhinaXSasusaku 3 years ago

Miotsukushi-hen.
It's an alternate ending to the ending of Higurashi(Matsuribayashi-hen).
Hanyuu dies..But,it's still a happy ending, though I don't understand why,it seems pretty sad to me(there's nothing fun in Mion and Keiichi preparing for college..).

Gotcha, thanks for telling me. It's hard to keep track.
That is by far one of the most depressing endings I've heard of.
Is there no restart because she dies?
And there is no fun in it at all.
Morhighan 3 years ago
Nope,no restart.
Life must go on ;)
..No fun at all.
It's basically club games,no mystery and Keiichi,Mion and Rena preparing for..College ;(
NaruhinaXSasusaku 3 years ago 2
That's really depressing. D:
That's hard for me to comprehend!
Well, at any rate I need to watch it online or hope that it comes out in English some day.

Oh, I tottally know. There's a better chance of reading a script than that or getting a patch. (Patch for PS2? I don't think so.)
But at least Funimation picked them up.
And it will take a while if it does happen, but we can hope. :)
Morhighan 3 years ago
Well, some people on Animesuki forums are doing a Onikakushi-hen's PC patch, almost complete..
You have to still buy the game though.

After the final chapter "Miotukushi-ark" of the ps2 edition.

final chapter as original PC version.
