@LarkeSongs I wouldn't say we were buddies, but I did have a high regard for him. He had an enormous intellect and an ability to speak on almost any Biblical subject without notes and with ease and authority. He wasn't always right about everything, but he was right about a lot of things. Being a dentist, he could tell u all about your teeth and be sharing the gospel with in the process, and there would be no way you could really question what he was saying, because it just made too much sense!
Very pretty. Thank you for sharing this. I love this song. They have this verse on some of the hamburger wrappers at In N Out..or is it the cups?? Anyway we looked up all the verses on their wrappers and cups and this was one of the verses. :)
@davidsummerford I have been bereaved of at least three great mentors this year. Imagine how our heavenly Father must have felt 2 see His Son crushed under the weight of our sins, and how little we seem 2 appreciate it. Imagine how sad we will be when some of our loved ones and friends are not among the redeemed, and we wonder if there's anything more we could have done to make a difference in their lives. These times of loss bring such thoughts to my mind. It probably does affect my performance
I see your point and and also so true. As a Christian I will never ever think that I am doing better than what I am. I am as filthy rags and ask for forgiveness always. I can only pray that he strengthens me to make it through a world that is vain and Christless. Ephesians 6:10-18 is a message that keeps me strong. The most important message of all is the first step, and that is to finally open the door and allow Jesus to come in to ones life. Oh how I pray that for all. Lord bless you.
@Lokestanator Thank you. Indeed, it is a beautiful song, but the message in light of the entire message to the Laodicean Church is both merciful and ominous. If Jesus is standing outside the door of those of us who call ourselves believers, can it mean anything other than that we think we are doing better than we are? Let us buy from Jesus the gold tried in the fire, the white raiment that we may be clothed, and let us anoint our eyes with eyesalve that we may see, because we want to be ready.
@pastore0506 Thanks, George. Yes, kind of makes me wonder how I selected this particular song to sing even before I heard the news. I actually hadn't thought much about doing it before yesterday. In fact, I had two other songs in mind that I could do which I had been practicing for that very purpose. For some reason, it just came into my head to do this one instead. I had made several unsatisfactory attempts, until I read the news. Then I did this one. Coincidence? Perhaps...
The simple fact that you've dedicated this particular performance to your friend who has gone home to be with Jesus makes it all the more powerful, sincere and inspiring.
@stewballmax3 I had already made several attempts before I read the news from his grandson, one of my friends on Facebook, but it took on a whole new significance when I heard that Dr. Palmer had gone to sleep to await the resurrection. He is the second of two very significant friends and mentors to have passed from this life within the past month or so. If we are not the last generation, surely they are right behind us.
This is so truly wonderful, nice playing and singing!
5 stars and bravo :)
