@mark22160 This was recorded in 1999 with John Trotter on Drums. He left the band in early 2000. In 2009 you saw the current drummer Jimmy Copley on stage.
And sadly to say: Mc Calla has left the Band after more than 10 years :-( and had to be replaced within a very short time. Sadly, the only one Manfred couild find was a popper :-(( with a everyones voice :-(((((( But I enjoyed every single of the 30+ concerts of MMEB with Mc Calla!
@ulliboll The name of the singer is Noel McCalla. He was a member of the " Manfred Manns Earth Band" till 2009- he i one of the best soulsinger I ever heart. Sorry of my english... I am German ;o)
When I met Manfred Mann by person he was very gentle and kind to me. He even told the security guy to let me talk to him. I know he doesn't like the crowds. I can understand that. But who cares as long as he plays the keyboards the way he does. Long live Manfred M.!
I have followed this band for 30 years, Chris Thomson is a hard act to follow, but boy does this guy run him close.
I Love this band and this line up,shame about John trotter leaving though, one of the best drummers in the world at the moment, and now living near me in Australia.

I met Manfred Mann at his studio (The Workhouse, Old Kent Road, London) 5 years ago when I was recording there, and I can assure you that he is a Grade A, first-class cunt of a man; rude, nasty, bitter and totally unpleasant....
yeah! i have heard this from quite a few people.Maybe because he is from South Africa? their all two faced tossers who are up their own arses.Shame cause their a great band, Hey Mannfred Grow up you old tosser, you will never be bigger than the music.
Re: Grade A assole Shame if he is - I grew up with MMEB and MM always portrayed himself as a "caring" personality thru his misic and the politics in S.A at the time. Respect your first-hand view, so thanks for the insight. Noel's a star tho!
Douglas, I totally agree with you, in as much as anybody who fought the Apartheid regime is a decent guy in my eyes; but myself (along with others who have met/worked with Manfred) have always found him to be a very bitter and unhappy man.He hates journalists with a passion! Great music, though....
What does it matter as long as he makes such great music? Artists are quite often assholes, that doesn't change anything about their work. Even if he were a supporter of apartheid, his music wouldn't change. Compare Eric Clapton's dubious ideas, as a blues guitarist, he is still God...
I met him at a gig in edinburgh in the 70's and he could not have been nicer. He chatted to me for 20 mins about his various projects and was an absolute gentleman.
Makes no fucking difference.....does he enhance the band or not? That's the question. OK he sounds fine, i just think he has a hard act to follow, that's all that detracts!
puuh, what a bombastic voice! Remembers me a bit to Tony Christie in his younger years. Very unusual that an artist performs in a more pretentious way of singing than he does in the original studio version!
One of the best voices I've heard for a very long time
Today the music is shit, where are they all? Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Stones, Manfred Man, Eloy and so on..........

the header says 1999, but could it be 2009? I saw this line up as support to status quo, the singer is excellent, and the band were superb.
