Koehring was concerned about the wide-spread use of wheel loaders limiting the sales of small sized rope shovels so they adapted a hybrid system designed on rope shovel proven technology with hydraulics replacing the cables and drums. The 505 was the second largest Skooper machine they built, there was a 1066 offered as well. The machines were replaced by more conventional face shovels similar to the ones we have these days.
