i went to mcrd sandiego in 1985. plt was 2015 with senior D.I. SSGT Smith. start running 3 miles a day 3 times a day in 30 mins or less. start doing pullups until you can do at least 20 of them. do 80 situps in 2mins or less. learn to swim. if you cant do anythat in that time frame then your life in basic is going to be pure hell. D.I.s wont hit you. they are profesionals and are marines who make marines. best of luck to you and semper fi

if anyone wants to be a marine, you better be in shape BEFORE you go in. it would be alot easier on you. i dont know how many times we went to the pit becouse of non hackers. its all about working together. oh yeah, you better love to drill. youll be doing alot of that and God help you if you suck at it. as far as hand to hand stuff, forget it. the marines wont teach you but a few hour of it a day. not enough to help you. the first week is not your working platoon. and sound off!

When he came home and then went on to become a police officer I was proud once more. The day my pride swelled to overflowing was when I saw my brother cry as he helped a wounded brother home from war through a parkinglot covered in slush deep enough that a wheelchair couldn't handle it. My brother is gone now but is never forgotten.

British royal marines go through much tougher training and for longer. Both mentally and physically. On average less then 30% pass. US still have it quite rough though

if anyone wants to be a marine, you better be in shape BEFORE you go in. it would be alot easier on you. i dont know how many times we went to the pit becouse of non hackers. its all about working together. oh yeah, you better love to drill. youll be doing alot of that and God help you if you suck at it. as far as hand to hand stuff, forget it. the marines wont teach you but a few hour of it a day. not enough to help you. the first week is not your working platoon. and sound off!

@Souldevistator666 Well they most definantly are not all equal... Yes they are equal in terms of "were all human" , but are not equal in terms of combat effectiveness or attitude. Im not saying Marines are better people. Im just saying they are trained much harder. Look at attrition rates of the Army and Marines. You will find that the Army has gotten theyre rate close to 0.. Which is sad.

at the 2:58 mark the reporter stated Louiz will have 4 MORE weeks of training. WTF? I grad from San Diego and the Crucible was the point I got my Eagle/Globe/Anchor and walked back 3 miles to a warriors breakfast. As we walke down from that mountain I rember my Drill Instructors calling me Marine and got to call them by rank. no more Sir shit. One week later I was on that parade deck. Can some one tell me What you guys do for those four weeks?

My thanks and praise to all of you!!! Congrats on the biggest decision of your life! When my brother got out of high school he became a Marine and it made me proud. When he came home and then went on to become a police officer I was proud once more. The day my pride swelled to overflowing was when I saw my brother cry as he helped a wounded brother home from war through a parkinglot covered in slush deep enough that a wheelchair couldn't handle it. My brother is gone now but is never forgotten.

Once your in I promise you this will be the best time you will have. British royal marines go through much tougher training and for longer. Both mentally and physically. On average less then 30% pass. US still have it quite rough though
