i've rebuilt the head after months of screwups and things holding me back... but i should be ready to cast the new head soon. just need to sort out some studio space and i'll be ready to get to work
hey im interested in trying this myself for a fan film. what is the final product mask made of? it looks like plaster or clay here, but have you tried using latex? or is that one the latex?
oh ok i was just wondering. im new and jsut doing the research and trying to figure out what its supposed to end up like. the thing we see in this video..thats not the final product right? just the mold?
yeah, this is just a video of the plasticine sculpt being cast in plaster... we sorta screwed up the water to powder ratio, and thus the sculpt, so alot of work is being done to fix old mistakes... we REALLY screwed this bit up, haha
well, i wasn't able to afford a proper armature to work on, so i used a plastic mask on top of a paper mache frame... so the paper mache got soaked by all the excess water and mold started to develop on the inside, so i very carefully removed the plasticine face and cast that.... so i was able to make a latex face mask, but the original had to be destroyed... rebuilding the sculpt as we speak
hehe, well, this was my first time sculpting anything for mask-making... the only thing i'd ever sculpted before that was a small yoda head, and it was awful, lol
all you need are good reference pics and a keen eye for detail, so don't give up
hehehe, i like both begins and TDK suits equally, funnily enough... i liked the unsprayed begins nomex suit too, but would've been impractical for what he was gonna be doing... didn't exactly blend in with the shadows
Do You know where I could get a variety of Full head and face casts with detailed faces

Cool.
The closest thing I've got to a studio is a god damn bedroom <_<.
I don't like to build where I sleep.

ha man that sucks. im curious... how did the water powder ratio affect the sculpt? did parts of it break off?

Aw...man...
If I had any experience sculpting, I'd make a mask of the original comic, completely replicated and stylyzed. That would look badass.

Sweet...
I really liked his body armor in the first movie before he painted it.... A bit off topic, but it just looked really cool.

It was still dark enough...kinda makes me think...
That paint job looks like it would be a bitch to replicate though...
