Yeah the old AWD will always ultimately slow the car down, except in conditions where you would encounter poor or frequent loss of grip.

Well I actually have driven it, have you? I live in Sweden and I went and test drove it when it came out. I have also drive lot's of high horsepower Volvo's and Saab's and once you get over 250hp, In my opinion, it's starts to become a problem. I prefer a high horse power rwd car.

no way. it's already well over 1400kgs as it is in FWD form. over 200kgs heavier than it's nearest rival (on paper) the Renault Megane R26.R.. in cars of this power that's a huge difference. hell, in 500hp cars that's a huge difference.

They've made 300hp work with FWD, and from everything i've read about it it's epic as it is.

I think I would have liked to see it rear wheeled... Better weight distribution, better corner speed and exit speed... Increased grip off the line too, the fwd has to count for the engine and the drivers too, rwd would have been better to see in my opinion

it's cars like this that really push the envelope and promote fantastic development in the "normal" models that will filter down through the range as the years pass. RWD would have been an easy option, a cop-out, with no real innovation or uniqueness. That's not the Team RS way!

I roll my tongue out and drew over this new awesome Focus RS (Even though I am not a big fan of turbo engine). I love the car in green color . And in the time when the world wanted to be GREEN, even though with all the power she (Focus RS) has. There is nothing Green about this baby. But who cares??? Just wonder if Ford could copy the style of this RS and put something less "extreme" and offer it to the "sorry" American drivers. I would love to see that day comes true!

Yeah Cosworth, 1 hour on the track, 2 hours in the shop for repairs. They have incredible power, but reliability isnt their strength.

That's my feeling aswell. The aftermarket has taken off enough here that if they keept the price within reason, they would sell a good number of them. In other words, don't forget it is a car coming from a failing auto maker. Ford is going to have a hard time keeping up once the Hyundai Genesis starts selling kicking the crap aout of Mustangs. Cheaper, lighter, more powerfull. With too hightly midifiable platforms? Hyundai FTW against mustangs.

I agree. Which is why it will be funny to see a young foreign automaker like Hyundai stick it to them where it will hurt the most. The Mustang is their "never fail" car, but the new Genesis offers more power from the V6 than the Mustangs V8, and also has a lighter platform. The turbo 4 cylinder has over 200hp stock, and you know there will be several tuning options available. Enough to beat out the Mustang GT with simple bolt ons. Same class in both being RWD and price range.

The mustang is greatest for torquey gut wrenching donuts and drifting. Suits americans best. When stops selling, you can bet on it that they will quickly come up with something that will sell well again. Maybe even a RWD V6 the size of a Mondeo but turboed. if thats what the Americans start buying that is!
