I used to work there, and the place was full of saw dust and flamable objects, it wasn't a matter of if, but when.... Still remember that day, my longs were burning from the thick black smoke.

I still go by here almost everyday mill complex is still abandoned and burned out. Almost 3 years latter. There has been talk about rehabbing the building, etc. Nothing yet and in this economy it doubtful. I have never seen such a big fire in my life.

omg i was like 8 when that happened it was scary b/c i live right down the st from it :( i live in a condo so i thought it was my apartment burning down! :(((

i remember standing outside with my dad watching it burn. i still get teary eyed watching this. that building was like a landmark in this town.

it's called they did an interior attack and the fire got ahead and the building got too unstable. Did you not see the roof collapse? as soon as the roof went the chief had the interior crews pull out.

I miss that mill :( I could see the smoke from my hosue and didnt find out what was going on till during work and I live all the way near hecla street too

I worked at Bernat Mill over 20 years ago....so sad. It was beautiful what they did to it before the fire. Also grew up in Uxbridge.
