Of course it's the arcade. If it was for a home console, it wouldn't say "Insert Coin" on the top of the screen for Player 2, it would just say, "Press Start".
@mosesman0526 This couldnnt have been a cay in the life of Chuck Norris, because the game starts with you being dead for a long time then being brought back to life. While in reality Chuck Norris was niether created, or can be destroyed.
@TruDru1978 you never heard of it because it never existed. it came out for nes, sega master system, sega genesis, arcade and turbo graffix originally.
Wait a sec, wizard66 is right! CheatingNoob, You lied to me!!!!!!!! There is no SNES version. This is this the arcade version! No wonder it said insert coin! Thanks for decciphering CheatingNoob's deceit, Wizard66!
Hold on and wait for just a second... while I think about this one.... how could this guy be so good? It must be some kind of crazy Tia Chi he's been doing on the side that makes him so good.
@Monsterworldfan64 lol yeah he got ya and you went ahead and said that the Genesis could produce a better version than this. Nope it can't coz this is the Arcade version and the Genesis hardware is a cut down version System16 hardware that this game runs on. Thats all =D
Genesis version could've been better if they had put more work into their first Genesis titles. Any console maker is like that with their first titles on their new system, they take it easy on graphics and gameplay on their first ones for they don't know its true potential yet. Basically why first games on a console don't take full advantage of the hardware and the later ones in the console's lifespan do. Personally I think the Genny was capable of a better version than this. The Genesis pwns!
Snes version? wow someone obviously didnt grow up on altered beast back in the days. and perfect run? well try doing it without a turbo pad or cheat...LOSER!
What kind of stupid person are you, I see three things wrong in your misleading video. First if this was a Super Nintendo version of this game then why dose it flash saying "Insert Coin." Second, this game was made by Sega and if I remember correctly, way back when during the 16 bit wars between Sega and Nintendo, Sega would never even think of releasing one of their own games to be played on a rival system. Third, learn how to brand your videos properly, you'll avoid comments like this one.
@Geeker1982 Altered Beast has a version for NES. And the Arcade has a slightly different flashing white cerberus. Minor difference, but... It is not that SEGA and Nintendo were that deep into rivalry, it's that Nintendo was gaining the upper hand.
@airraideagle i appreciate ppl like you. had me worried for a second. i was wondeirng like wtf how did a sega game go on snes!? my life almost turned upside down!!!!
THis is arcade, not SNES, there was no SNES version, and had there been, it wouldn't have been this close to the Arcade. (particualrly the sound, not the voices, the FM sound effects/music)
32x could have done it, but that's a different issue. (and it never had it anyway)
Snes would probably have been closer in some respects, but may have been more difficult in others (sound samples would sound better, but music might not sound as close ot the arcade and sprites could look nicer, but there might be more slowdown, plus still missing the scaling effects from the arcade)
Star fox was done with a 10.74 MHz RISC processsor on the cart (along with an extra 128 kB of RAM), and I think genesis (SVP chip) Virtua Racing beats it in polygons/second. (but only 16-colors)
32x could (and did) easily surpass the Super FX and even 21.48 MHz super FX 2 in technical capabilities, look at Shadow Squadron, Starwars Arcade, or even Metal Head. (and could display the full 15-bit palette -32,768 colors, not just 256 on the SNES)
Not to mention it used a higher resolution. (320 pixels wide, opposed to 256 on SNES)
Not saying Star Fox isn't better than most, if not all 32x games, it's one of the best SNES games after all. (I personally like Shadow Squadron a lot)
what a dumb ass, you know jack shit, The snes would have had shitty lil sprites, they would have added way too many extra SNES colors giving it a over shaded look, the music would have been all snes-ed out with shitty typical snes instruments, and the sound fx would all sound under water like most snes games, dont get me wrong SNES is awesome, great great great games, but looking back, i now see the megadrive converted arcade games better.
there is also a lot of clever editing in this video if you notice the points at the end of the bosses if he had done it first time he would have got 100000 points for each boss and quite clearly he does not.
Altered Beast was never released on SNES. So many inexperienced children. This is the arcade version (sans the bear stage) played in an annoyingly obnoxious manner.
List of systems Altered Beast was ported to: Arcade, DOS, Amstrad CPC, MSX, NES, Atari ST, Commodore Amiga, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis, PC Engine CD, Commodore 64, Virtual Console.
This is the Arcade version. There's no such thing as a SNES version, because it was released way before the Super Nintendo's time.
Also, home ports at that time would never have an added "Insert Coin" effect as you so call it, they'd just ask you to press start.

There isn't a SNES version.
There was an unofficial NES port that added three levels with new enemies, bosses and forms.

The SNES could have pulled it off and it probably would have been a closer graphical presentation to the Arcade.
If you need proof of the SNES' capabilites, look at Starfox.
The Genesis couldn't pull off those graphics even if it tried without serious lagging issues, not even with the 32X strapped on
