well, when i was there the CO was cdr. tortura. he took care of us. now the CO is a douche bag, even his own officers don't like him. he treats the crew like shit. he's suppose to be replaced soon. as soon as he's gone, the command will prolly be good again.

1998-2001 on board ship, and then another 3 years active reserve while I got my degree,, then they activated me during school,, got out shortly after that to finish school and etc,,,

what are the best enlisted jobs? i wanted to be diver so my recruiter told me to just pick a back up job and i could switch. i picked nuke and he was all like actually you can't transfer sorry. unless i fail a school.

first off, dont listen to the recruiter, they are like bad used car salesmen. just yes them to death, and pick something you think you will like. you will like any job for the first year, then you will wish you picked something else. there really is no best enlisted job. once your in, you can crossrate to most any job, if your supervisors are willing to put in the paper work and let you go. once your in, your in. only way out is to do your time, or do drugs and get kicked out.

dont do drugs, they are too expensive tho. lol. if your a nuke, your gonna be in for a year of school, just like being in college. but its difficult. alot of people fail out, and end up going to the fleet undesignated. this means you will be working for a BM (boatswainsmate) and life will be harsh. 10 hours work days, and some of the most dangerous jobs on a ship, but you get mad respect if your a good BM. theres too many variables to answer your question.

you will not be a BM, you will be a BM's bitch. hahaha, you will be undesignated, which is the lowest possible job in the navy, and you may be stuck in this unrated job for up to 2 years. DO NOT FAIL A SCHOOL or C SCHOOL. you will be hating life as a BMs biatch.

your first 3 to 5 years will be at the same place, after you graduate from whatever school you need to go to. if you go nuke, you will have more than a year of school, then your off to an aircraft carrier or submarine... definitely. I chose sonartechnician, did a year of school in sandiego, graduated first in my class and had the first pick of the class from the available ships. then did 5 years straight on the USS Carney. I could have gone to another ship around the 3 year mark but chose not to

i loved the navy, and did a fine job. just couldnt see myself doing it for 20 plus years. get out honorably and once your at your first submarine, hit the books and technical publications. know how your electronics work and fix them when they need it. Dont be afraid to dig into the gear and take shit apart, if you have pride in ownership of your tools and your computers, then no one can tell you your bad sailor. if something doesnt work, dont let it stay that way. if your boss knows its broke...

... and he chooses not to fix it, tell someone about it, get it fixed and make it work. there may be people higher in rank than you, who choose to cut corners, dont let them, help them to do the right thing, or find someone higher then their rank to tell them to do the right thing.

you mean sailor << yea it was cool, i did 6 years and got out with an honorable discharge. dont think of it as something "to do" you have to be resolute when you put your name on the dotted line. so many losers join, and get kicked out cuz their mommy and daddy made them "do it" if mommy is making you do it, then run away and join the circus. dont be a fuck up in the navy cuz you couldnt hack it. I loved my navy. but it was my time to move on.
