When women play sports its enteraining and Unexpected because its "going against the grain". Roller derby isn't like this a lot of the time. It isn't just skating around a track and beating the piss out of each other. There's so much skill that a skater has to have to play this sport. It takes a lot of time and effort to get that skill, too.

Do fights happen a lot in American RD? Haven't really seen any fights here in Sweden. Yeah some yelling and rude gestures, but no stopping, turning around and starting to hit eachother. Or maybe it's a specific thing that happens more with bank track RD? Cause now that I think of it, all the fight vids are on banktracks.

I guess that's why I don't see fights here in Sweden. I have to say that in my opinion it's not nice for the sport and I also think that a lot of the fighting looks fake, even though everybody keeps saying "this is not your mother's derby". I guess the skaters aren't just payed to play the game, they might also be payed to bring in the public. I hope it's not gonna go back in that direction. Outside of the states I don't think it will. :)

@jamieblond1 And actually, I never said the injury on its own meant that it wasn't scripted. I put a lot of other reasons in addition to that fact to paint a picture of the game I watched. There were injuries (not from an attack, but regular gameplay) and there were no dramatic fights (in fact both sides seemed to have respect for each other). Putting a lot of things that happened there together, to me it just seemed like a genuine match. Boring as hell for a script but good for an honest game.
