  • What a wonderful video! Thank you so much sir! I really do appreciate the time and effort you put in to explaining in detail how to do what you were doing. Best of luck!

  • Shocking to watch his filleting. He has a good luck to have any fingers left! I'll do that under 20 seconds and much more easier. Pin boning was ok otherwise just awful!!

  • I dont even like fish.. why am i watching this. @.@

  • Thank you , thank you, For an outstanding lecture.

Learnt more in five minutes than any stupid book on the subject. Even tried a sliver of the fresh stuff too, delicious!

Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year to you all.

  • Excellent job.

  • Love how you eat a piece raw, you may not be an expert, but at least your not full of shit like most other 'how to' videos on youtube.

  • holy crap that knife is very sharp... i have got some freshly caught salmon, gonna cook me a salmon tonight :)

  • dang it, @ 4:38 i re3ally wanted to eat some of thoses now

  • Say a whole fish weights 3kg, how much actual meat would you get from that?

    Cheers

  • How much would a fish like this sell for in store?

  • @xXBlackAwpsGawdXx in the states you would be looking at anywhere from 12.99 to 17.99 lb for fresh wild salmon (fileted and boned) depending on breed...Obviously it also depends on your proximity to the coast...

  • @joshlinke Here in Montana we can still catch them when they come through each year for spawning in some of our reservoirs as well as in some lakes. They sell for around $16 lb.

  • this video should be called how to fillet a wild salmon the hard way :)

  • this is so funny ! lol . i love how u just throw things when your done with them. but im sorry , that is not how you fillet a salmon. you totally hacked it. your knife movements need to be smooth motion. always, and you cant lift the fillet up so much , you pulled it and tared the flesh. you should check the youtube video How- to fillet a salmon. posted by Ancdailynews or something like that. he does a really nice job.

  • just curious if they dont have the green tab and are sold as "wild salmon" is there any way to know if its wild or farmed?

  • Very helpful! Thanks so much for posting this :D

  • to scale it, blast it tail to head with a garden hose, blows them and alot of slime right off.

  • rofl, really amateur job. I fillet Salmon myself, -15 sec for 1 salmon, 75% fillet. This hearts my eyes.

  • @STEVANOVIC112 hurts*

  • when u said fillet u said Fill It. Its Fah-Lay. Dont worry not tryin to be mean. when i first saw the word i thought it was Fill-Et.

  • filet is pronounced *fi-ley*

  • @hellishheavin101 In the U.S. that is correct. But I believe different parts of the world such as England and Australia have a slightly different pronunciation.

  • @richterscale09 thanks for the info

  • just a suggestion to descale the salmon i use stainless steel brush giv it a try

  • Any reason why the fishmonger used needle nose pliers over tweezers to remove the pin bones?

  • Ty very much, i was forgotten how to correctly do this.

  • no problem guys, im glad its helped all of you!

  • @CDubock Nice video. i have a question though. On another video iv seen they seem to mention that your supposed to take the skin off the fish. Is that true

  • @GhOsTF141 You can, but you don't have to. The skin of several fish, especially salmon, have very delicious skin which, when sauteed the right way, have a great crispy texture (not to mention aesthetically pleasing). If I am not mistaken, people usually skin fillets to gently poach the meat.

  • thank you this video helped me out a ton!!!

  • Thankyou :)

  • The British are some of the best teachers on the face of this planet. Amazingly, this vid was extremely helpful.

  • I just fillet my first salom becouse of this video. YUMMMMM.......THANX

  • he makes a funny face when he says exquisite

  • It is very well explained and filmed. Very useful for an amateur like myself. Thanks for the video post and to the fish society.

  • iv been looking at vids to get a good way in fillet my salmon this eyar, i got 2 now that i need to fillet and this is the best by far video to show m ehow ot do it best with less waste and the most detail.. thans for this video,, its the best easy hands down lol :)

  • Thank you sir.. much appreciated!!

  • fuckn nice

  • This is the first video that deals with what we refer to on the West Coast of Canada as the "pin" bones. These are the small bones that angle out 45 degrees from the spine and are left behind by the standard filletting process. Very good video.

  • Thanks alot im glad you enjoyed it, check out the other fish filleting videos ive done as you like this one, im currently a uni student and any feedback would be greatly appreciated! cheers chris
