  • Wow, they never showed this commercial in my country so this is the first time I saw it. For those who think its CGI, there are enough real news coverage of this commercial to show that it is not CGI, however, it was done with two takes, then the first and second haves were spliced together. Still, very impressive

  • This video is computer edited. I bet you that is NOT the sound of the speakers, and the key didn't make that sound either. Also, the sounds of the crew celebrating after finally getting it right after 606 takes was edited out.

Other than that, nothing computer generated here.

  • everything was good except for the tires rolling up hill...

  • @sicaelegy it was counter balanced with weights

  • i remeber this commercial

  • I can't even imagine how hard that was they were probably lucky if they got a shot a day. holy crap

  • @jb42682 606 video takes, cost $1 million

  • AWESOME!!!

  • lol real proof its CGI, 1:17 it rolls to the window when its closed the window opens, you can see the thing rolls when the window opens, IMPOSSIBLE!

  • @MrAnnoyingFreak it is on an angle, ever heard of gravity, wow what a moron

  • the give-away is the camera animation, no man an operate a camera that smoothly

  • @Oskmos wut do u think they use for films? its a supporter, look it up thats wut filmmakers use to maneuver through hallways on a chase or something lke that.

  • @Oskmos 606 video takes

  • @shorfilmman or a dolly or steadycam dumbass

  • @Oskmos they have a track for the camera to go on you can even use toy traintracks

  • To the people saying ''Omfg, the tires are so CGI..FAKE AND GAY'' it's not fake, read one of the comments that explain, for example, how the wheels move up and defy gravity, it is possible.

  • @Jeppanz99 haha look at 1:17 it is fake but pritty cool

  • @crack0man this whole thing is real

  • This is entirely possible to do without CGI, and it would save Honda money to not use CGI. That makes it ~likely~ that this commercial doesn't use CGI but I won't say that definitively.

The tires rolling uphill have a weight inside them (at the top before they start moving) so they posses enough momentum to travel up the hill. Since the tires are knocked forwards, that's the direction the top-heavy tire falls. The wood through the window has been cut, that's why it needs support on both sides.

  • you guys realize this is a commercial?

  • No CGI my ass

  • how come the wheels didnt roll down the platform goin up hill

  • thats what i was thinkin lol

  • @bmxcock weights

  • Fake, Minute 1:14 shows windows closed and wood is between inside and outside of the door.

This is a good cgi effects commercial.

  • Look closely and you can see a gap in the wood.

  • its so c.g.i so fucking fake

  • # letters C.G.I

  • I FOUND A PROBLEM WITH IT

there are at least 4 batterys in there!

one for the fan, one for the window & jets, one for the wipers & rain sensors, one for the speakers

  • who would do that omg that like takes forever!

  • I stand corrected, not CG... Search "Making of COG commercial"

  • Incredible sound quality. Where is this available on blu-ray?

  • Comment removed

  • it is real but? took them ages to plan and make then it all works together to keep the chain reaction going just like dominoes each piece creates the energy to knock the next piece along onto the next piece and so on until the chain ends, the tire part may look fake except tires are weighted to make them balanced as they are not perfectly roundly balanced out, so they do roll up hill until the heavy part with the most weight is at, the bottom though it may only be a short distance it does work

  • no its not ..hents the word cgi affects

  • hint the word no infront of that...

  • fools, this is how the tires go uphill. they arent the same weight all the way around. they r heavier at the top the way they have them set up, so as they roll, the weight is going down, but the tire is going up

the heaviest part is the X:

    ____________0000

    _XXXX______0____X

    0____0_____0____X

    0____0______0000

    _0000

even though the second tire is higher than the first the weight that makes the tire lopsided has gone down. when the Xs r at the bottom it stops. look closely and you will see im right

  • how did they get the tires to defy gravity again oh wait yea..cgi

  • if cgi wasnt used then why do the wheels roll up the slope?

  • awesome, awesome, awesome!!!!!XD

  • yeah....cgi kids...

  • 1 million!

  • this is how money is wasted!!!!! shame......

  • niceone good job !!! :-D

  • what song is this?

  • Uhm they used CGI who ever told you that they didnt lied to you

ps wilkapedia isnt a good source buddy! =]

  • BTW Your wrong, it took them 700 odd attempts to get it right. it was all done using honda parts and components, NO CGI was used at all.

  • i actually saw the making of this add and their was guys in green suits making the wheel move up the ramp and some cgi with the speakers you can see the whole speaker moving and speakers don't move like that. but apart from that if i remember the rest was just months of careful timing and testing.

    its a cool add though.

    nice one!!

  • No CGI my ass. look at the tires at 30 seconds but it was a good commercial

  • They were weighted, google it and you'll see.

  • that is so CGI

  • no effects??? ahahahahahaha!!! its obvious that there are some cg effects!!

  • u sure? no effects?

  • a well thought video like what honda says different 4m others

  • that looks so cgi, i doubt that its real. It looks very fake, i think they are trying to fool people when its obviously cgi.

  • you i made something like that in my room but it exploded

  • xD yeah 1 million dollars for a f*cking commercial, a CGI would be cheaper, I mean since when do tires roll up ?? The rest is ok.

  • i heard that they had weights in them

  • Law of Inertia, an object in motion will stay in motion unless that force is transfered upon another object.

  • no. An object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by some external force. And there was an external force on the tires DOWN the ramp. so i think RenoGregory was right in saying they must have had some kind of weights in them and that the impact from the previous tyre gave it enough of a start for the next tire to start moving with the weight inside.

  • its fake

  • This is fake is done with Maya

  • This is fake..look at the bit with the window.. how is the plank of wood through the windows with no breaks in the wood or glass.

  • also the speakers the the end, are clearly cgi, no speaker vibrates that much!

  • Good though..credit for that..it's slick as fuck an nice on the eye.

  • The only part with CGI is the radiator rolling, the rest IS real.

  • Lol, that wood is in 2part.

  • theres a line thru it look closer, i cant say whether or not its fake but as for ur comment, there is a gap

  • nice but ... wheels dont get extra power from nowhere .. FAKE

  • The wheels are weighted to start with. hence the fact that they can balance on a slope.

It is a very easy trick to do.

  • Also you can see the first gear isn't ROLLING down it, they faked that bit. It's not spinning in the right direction.

Either that or they used a really bad frame rate and tried to compensate by blurring it...

  • so rolling a cog down a ramp, possibly the easiest bit of the whole clip, and THATS the bit you think they faked.

It is caused by the lens speed of the camera, the same thing happens when you watch cars driving on TV, at certain speeds it looks as though the wheel is moving backwards.

  • ... you said rolling down .. it rolled up

  • The rolling down was refering to the cog rolling down the slope that someone said looked computerised,

My reply to you is the one about the tyres. There is a weight inside the tyre at the front that puts it in a state of equilibrium. dispite it appearing off ballange on the its actually perfectly ballenced. then, once disturbed the weight in the tyre causes it to roll upwards.

  • So the whole thing took seven months to prepare, imagine if something went wrong there, then they would have to spend another month correcting it.

    Very good, 5stars.

  • Looks like it went wrong 606 times then, still, very good video.

  • This is awesome. It reminds me of a PC game I used to have called Marble Drop. You put a bunch of marbles in a big Rube Goldberg Machine at different places and times and try to get them in order by color at the end from going through the machine. It's very complex.

  • no cgi, just patient and partly insane people who work in the advertising department at Honda... the only bit i dont believe is those speaker things when the music comes on, wtf?

  • Awesome. This video either uses CG or some other film tricks cause this breaks the laws of physics on too many occasions. Still very cool.

  • CGI or not who cares, its HONDA!!!! VIVA la VTEC:)

  • Absolutely! :)

  • fake, u can tell from the wheels goin up the ramp, not possible, specially since theres nae enough force for the first 1 to go up and when it hits the next it should lose some energy makin it even less likley that it can they can reach the top

  • theres weights in the wheels so when it pushes the wheel the weight forces the other wheel to move which makes it go to the top. duh :P

  • really nothin that special

  • its 100% cgi you can tell by the lighting

  • My gosh, that's what i call a rune goldberg machine!

  • Yeah, no CGI, I saw it on the news... :)

  • NO really. There aren't any CGI effects. I've seen this before and there are absolutely no effects. It's amazing.

  • lol of course its cgi

  • That took them 606 takes to finally get that rube goldberg machine to work correctly.

  • i always wondered about the wheels

  • Tooooo much time on their hands

  • its not iff you wondering about the wheels theve got weights inside

  • eh it could have been made with 3d but its not. just a high quality camera on a track. hehe being a 3d animator though it gives me ideas

  • that was all CGI dudes

  • nope no cgi at all

the wheels went up the ramp because of weights inside them.

  • what is the song at the end of that?

  • rap-Sugar Hill Gang - Rappers Delight (Old School Mix) (1-5-1980)hip-hop to the hippity hop
