@flip3d CU was awesome. it gave smugglers and pistoleers a fighting chance but of course jedi hated their special that was being picked up by the bounty hunters called lastditch and feigndeath. these two specials right here were one of the reasons for NGE. oh go how fun those were- lastditch only had about a %20 to work right but when it did it would kill a jedi, so they whined and whined about LD and FD, instead of fixing that they made NGE

The game isnt dead by any means. Me and a few friends play it now and are having a blast. We see tons of people on at all times of the day. The server we hang on is called Chilastra. Dont let doomsayers and whiners stop anyone from getting the game, its a really good indepth MMO.

People who played in pre cu (original SWG) say that the game is ruined, (I am one of them) they all say the game is dead, which is not true. You see new people everyday, but the planets in the game are completely useless these days, in pre cu u could do anything cos there wasnt any levelling, now this NGE, usually ppl go to leveling planets (they use like 3 planets out of 10 something..) In conflusion i think pre cu and cu was a really good SWG game, this NGE is nothing special..

i unlocked jedi 2 times pre cu 1 with holos other with village and i had a tkm/fencer/pikeman im stil playing the game i took a 2 year break but its still fun IMO i heard they stopped doing the emu?
Well, the system seems to have eaten my reply. Yes, it is alive and well. It's an open beta, so no need to be recruited. Just go the the site, and follow the instructions. Combat is up, many caves are up and running, and vehicles are up and running. Head on over to swgemu and have a look at the forums.

yeah you need to go to the Website and create a Forums account. They'll send you a login name and password (your choice) and a link to download the "LAUNCHPAD ENHANCED" remember this term. its what you need to log in to SWG EMU. takes like a few seconds to get patches and you can usually get right into the server. if it says OFFLINE, proly lying. Cancel, put in your password again and try and it'll more than likely be "online". Create your toon and Get to rollin.

I was considering of buying SWG before but I'm having alot of second thoughts about paying 15/month for something that players seem to bash alot about. What's a free server? What was the pre-CU like?
Before SWG changed...it was really fun. The only thing that sucked was the no role playing factor. No one fucking role played everone just wanted to have the best macro or template. No one was wearing any faction armor or giving two shits of the GCW. It was a power gamer's game. Now the fucking game is all about JEDIs...six million jedis during the GCW. Boy does that make fucken sense. Call it KOTOR then god damn it. All i wanted was PRE-CU but with hard core GCW role play!
We all mis Pre-CU, but there´s a legal star wars galaxies emulator, wich will be free to play. But you need however a legal copy of galaxies. Just google for SWGEmu and you will find it. Its completle legal, and it would be fun if more people joined, becuase it is exactly the same gameplay as it was before the shitty uppdates that ruined the game. No CU or NGE :)
This game had 2 compat upgrades one called the CU (combat upgrade) one called NGE (New game enhancements) They all messed with the stats im not really too far into it. CU added lvl's and icons and a 6 person group from a 20 person group
NGE took the 30+ profesions and made them into 9 shit tastic ones including the abality to start as a jedi in a point of the star wars timeline where jedi were VERY scarce
notice how you avoid going into the stat stuff, also whats wrong with 9 professions, that makes it simple for beginners. also - before people figured out how to be a jedi pre-cu many people complained and started saying you couldnt be one. as many people buy the game and expect to be a jedi. so far you've yet to state a valid explanation as to why the CU and NGE make it worse. i havent played the game ive only read this stuff and i also want to know in detail what happened.
In the original swg you had 30+ profesions and you could mix and match for better stats and so on. in NGE you chose 1 of 9. SWG is based between episode 4-5 and jedi were extremely rare so everyone will want to be one and it derives from realism in the star wars universe. But really unless you played pre-cu you dont know how much fun the game used to be. I mean nothing beats getting 20 people in a group and going and seeing a ton of blasters shoot through the nights sky at some giant silouete

...People would not judge one another from the start, and you could go enjoy yourself. There was an economy too. You would work your ass off for 10-20k credits to buy a speederbike and it was hard to make a living until you were a veteran of somesort. The sheer amount of people doing their own things, helping each other out made it very fun for everyone, it was community based. The CU was not the worst
...thing but there were 'certifications' brought into place, i couldn't use my tusken rifle when i first logged in in the CU and was confused.. it was definately playable IMO and I was happy playing it but the NGE was way too extreme. From customising your characters in so many possible ways, the game plummeted to 9 proffesions, with the majority of people in the game being either 4 maybe 5 of those, same armor, same stats and "mind" was taken out of the game...
This would be a source of energy which was dedicated to certain abilities such as healing.. it's boring, the economy has been lost, there are SO many jedi they've become the majority and it's just frustrating. Most of the game's atmosphere and pvp takes place in less than 3 places. Most of which is "restuss" which is dark and gloomy, compared to hunts where you could climb aboard you're mount and go venture off with 10 other friends on various planets...
the game was simply littered with brilliance. Litteraly, Anybody that played for more than a couple months pre-cu will tell you its the best MMO they've ever experienced and played. (a very rare few may disagree but you get the point.)

You havent played before the day they messed it up if you were 'level 80'. The NGE was the Second of TWO game destroying up grades the CU was the first. If you had a level, you were playing post CU, Pre NGE SWG. Pre CU was so much better...
yeah..i was lv 80 TKM for a while...then they got rid of that...I was like 2 weeks from making padawan....then the new game enhancments gave all the jedi speacial stuff...while all other elders got squat....i love how they killed the game :(

Personally, I doubt it. And if they ever did go back to the original version, I'm not sure of what all they would need to reset. I don't know about you, but I'm not doing all that over again. This reminds me of the good ol' days, though. RIP SWG. :)
To be honest i think the NGE was a great example of wat might happen to WOW.. For WOW will be so good they will change WOW ,but the change might upset people and soon no one will be playing WOW.
you have to go to a bunker on endor (death somethingorotehr) and inside is a group of madalorian survivors, keep fighting and after about 5 hrs of nonstop fighting, you should find a piece, bad news is, the color is locked so ur stuck with that color...or tahts how u got it pre-nge idk about now

Some of my fondest memories from age 8-11 were hanging out at Anchorhead cantina with my friends, then someone would rush in and shout, "AT-ST attaking anchorhead! Everyone outside!", or, "Holy shit, lets go hunt krayt dragons!" and we would trek across the desert on foot to krayt graveyard, all the way from anchorhead.
i played the game since the beginning and now they changed so much.....like back then to become a jedi i spent 3 months on the jedi quest to get there now you start as one ....i remember sitting in the middle of the desert of tat waiting for that dark mysteries hooded man to show up and finding the holocrons that was the good days
Well all I know is If i had a company and the customer base was huge and the cash was flowing in and my dev team desided to change the game in such a way that I lost 89% of the customer base I would have fired all the fn morons and put the game back the way it was.
They came out with what they call the NGE, New Game Enhancements, which didn't enhance a damn thing, in fact it just dumbed the game down and took away a lot of the complexity that made the game interesting and enjoyable.
Uhhh, well, they removed a lotta classes altogether, and by a lot i mean at least 10, and compressed them into i think 8 very basic, simple classes, made Jedi a starting class, where before you had to earn it, made it so a lot of things you had you couldn't use anymore with your class, period, screwed up the combat system...you name it.
Pre-cu??...Well my friend, that means before the Combat Upgrade. It was a part of some bigger changes to SWG. PRE-CU was the time when the motherfucking hardcore players were around (like me). Pre-cu was the time when jedi was something you had to earn by HARD WORK. I can only say Swg Pre-cu FTW!!! and also Swg Emulator (Team's) FTW!!

Oh, the memories. I remember when it first came out...the hair stylists....dancers....roaming the countryside on foot....the massive creatures people had tamed standing in the center of town...was great. There were so many options....

Great video. I miss the old SWG now. Especially Ranger and CH. I remember exploring the planets on foot as Ranger before vehicles came, and people would stop by and have a chat in my camps when they were out and check vendors.

I'm just waiting till the Pre-CU emulators are finished. They've made some serious progress.
Right now, they're working on housing and structures and after that, they still have flight to finish. But alot of it has been done.

NGE took the 30+ profesions and made them into 9 shit tastic ones including the abality to start as a jedi in a point of the star wars timeline where jedi were VERY scarce

notice how you avoid going into the stat stuff, also whats wrong with 9 professions, that makes it simple for beginners. also - before people figured out how to be a jedi pre-cu many people complained and started saying you couldnt be one. as many people buy the game and expect to be a jedi. so far you've yet to state a valid explanation as to why the CU and NGE make it worse. i havent played the game ive only read this stuff and i also want to know in detail what happened.

In the original swg you had 30+ profesions and you could mix and match for better stats and so on. in NGE you chose 1 of 9. SWG is based between episode 4-5 and jedi were extremely rare so everyone will want to be one and it derives from realism in the star wars universe. But really unless you played pre-cu you dont know how much fun the game used to be. I mean nothing beats getting 20 people in a group and going and seeing a ton of blasters shoot through the nights sky at some giant silouete

...People would not judge one another from the start, and you could go enjoy yourself. There was an economy too. You would work your ass off for 10-20k credits to buy a speederbike and it was hard to make a living until you were a veteran of somesort. The sheer amount of people doing their own things, helping each other out made it very fun for everyone, it was community based. The CU was not the worst

...thing but there were 'certifications' brought into place, i couldn't use my tusken rifle when i first logged in in the CU and was confused.. it was definately playable IMO and I was happy playing it but the NGE was way too extreme. From customising your characters in so many possible ways, the game plummeted to 9 proffesions, with the majority of people in the game being either 4 maybe 5 of those, same armor, same stats and "mind" was taken out of the game...

This would be a source of energy which was dedicated to certain abilities such as healing.. it's boring, the economy has been lost, there are SO many jedi they've become the majority and it's just frustrating. Most of the game's atmosphere and pvp takes place in less than 3 places. Most of which is "restuss" which is dark and gloomy, compared to hunts where you could climb aboard you're mount and go venture off with 10 other friends on various planets...

the game was simply littered with brilliance. Litteraly, Anybody that played for more than a couple months pre-cu will tell you its the best MMO they've ever experienced and played. (a very rare few may disagree but you get the point.)

You havent played before the day they messed it up if you were 'level 80'. The NGE was the Second of TWO game destroying up grades the CU was the first. If you had a level, you were playing post CU, Pre NGE SWG. Pre CU was so much better...

Personally, I doubt it. And if they ever did go back to the original version, I'm not sure of what all they would need to reset. I don't know about you, but I'm not doing all that over again. This reminds me of the good ol' days, though. RIP SWG. :)

you have to go to a bunker on endor (death somethingorotehr) and inside is a group of madalorian survivors, keep fighting and after about 5 hrs of nonstop fighting, you should find a piece, bad news is, the color is locked so ur stuck with that color...or tahts how u got it pre-nge idk about now

man swg was the greatest game I have ever, and will likely ever, play... its not the graphics that made this game, but the gameplay, freedom, and absolute player based economy/etc...amazing...I am still wishing and waiting for the day they decide to take it back to pre-cu or even cu

Some of my fondest memories from age 8-11 were hanging out at Anchorhead cantina with my friends, then someone would rush in and shout, "AT-ST attaking anchorhead! Everyone outside!", or, "Holy shit, lets go hunt krayt dragons!" and we would trek across the desert on foot to krayt graveyard, all the way from anchorhead.

i played the game since the beginning and now they changed so much.....like back then to become a jedi i spent 3 months on the jedi quest to get there now you start as one ....i remember sitting in the middle of the desert of tat waiting for that dark mysteries hooded man to show up and finding the holocrons that was the good days

They came out with what they call the NGE, New Game Enhancements, which didn't enhance a damn thing, in fact it just dumbed the game down and took away a lot of the complexity that made the game interesting and enjoyable.

Uhhh, well, they removed a lotta classes altogether, and by a lot i mean at least 10, and compressed them into i think 8 very basic, simple classes, made Jedi a starting class, where before you had to earn it, made it so a lot of things you had you couldn't use anymore with your class, period, screwed up the combat system...you name it.

Pre-cu??...Well my friend, that means before the Combat Upgrade. It was a part of some bigger changes to SWG. PRE-CU was the time when the motherfucking hardcore players were around (like me). Pre-cu was the time when jedi was something you had to earn by HARD WORK. I can only say Swg Pre-cu FTW!!! and also Swg Emulator (Team's) FTW!!

There was one glaring omission in this game, PvE.
There was two or three places in the entire game that was like the old EQ "zones". That is, places that were designed with a theme.
So if you weren't into PvP, all there was to do was run to the next stump and exterminate vermin!

Yeah, the quests pre-jump to lightspeed were kinda...useless.
What kept me in the game for close to 15 months before the CURB was basically the crafting system, specifically bio-engineering.
Running around dathomir with no combat skills trying to sample DNA from some of the most dangerous beasts out there was great fun.

If you loved SWG and loved the Pre-CU days... join the swg EMU community. They are bringing back SWG to the Pre-CU days and will allow the future content to be directed by the community. The video was shot in 2004 or 2005. I've had 2 new PC's since then. At the time, that one could handle SWG fine, just not SWG and Fraps running at the same time.

This was probably the greatest experience i ever made in and with a Game.
SWG (before NGE) was the best Game ever, and i miss it so much, i would still play it like i used to, but i can´t stand the Pain of NGE and the loss of all my ppl who became more than friends in over 2 years of SWG
