  • My fav song is the final theme.

Main melody and sound fx used to be on the same audio channel which caused a time shift in lead melody when you punch the bad guys. :)

as far as I remember it was using a Yamaha chip with 4 channels.

  • Haha! Yea - I remember thinking ... does the programmer mean this to happen? Is it supposed to be all disjointed and random? You can hear it happening at 1:34 - actually sounds quite eerily cool in a way!! Would work better in a more horror themed kind of game than a garish beat-em-up!

It's actually a 3 channel chip called the AY (made by General Instruments) although Yamaha later licensed these as the YM chip I believe.

  • :)It doesn't sound bad. I used to think they intentionally made it , until I discovered the limitation of the sound chip :) With 3 channel polyphony, only 2 ch's would be used for music if they'd spared 1 ch for the fx. I guess they thought the melody shifting sounded better than having the theme played by 2 chs.

  • Nice one ;) Target Renegade is also a great 2 player co-up game !
