  • hey man its me agin i live in ohio and i live by a pond and sometime ima go shoot this carp in there and its about 4 to 5 ft long so check it out

  • @imryebread1 That would be cool. Make a video and add it to this thread as a video response.

As a teenager I used to shoot carp from a canoe on a river. I used a 30 lb fiberglass recurve bow made by Fred Bear and a solid fiberglass arrow just like the ones we use today. At that time I had a shoot thru style reel that was made from some large diameter PVC pipe.

  • @CrypticCRICKET cool i shoot recurve 2 and shoot from a canoe and btw were u live im not a stalker dont worry its just that it looks like u live on a tropical island

  • @imryebread1 I live in South West Florida. Close to water and yes it's tropical here.

  • hey man i am 13 and love ur work so i was wanderin if u can make a vid of u bowfishing with the pvc bow

  • @imryebread1 Hi ryebread. I will do that. I'll have to wait until summer though for stingray to be an easy target on the flats.

  • @CrypticCRICKET thanks alot and keep the vids comin

  • you retarded or what? fill the bottle full of foam so it floats... WTF? this a sealed bottle full of air, it already floats.

  • @hitachi088 These bottles get leaks in them from time to time and if the cap comes off...

  • I made this kit and found it works better to mount the bottle cap to the bow instead of the chair foot and also to fill the bottle with expandable foam so the bottle still floats but dosn't collapse.

  • @jdturek Hi jdurek! Thank you for the feedback! I hope people will read your contribution to this project so they have this information.

The reason I used the rubber chair tip to attach the bottle is because I need the bottle to come free of the bow if I shoot a stingray. Down here that's one of the species that we're allowed to hunt and they're very common so it's something I need to plan for.

The spray foam is a great tip as well. I just didn't have any left the night I made the float.

  • I really like your videos. I have been working on this project, just trying to find the right type of string for the bow. I would really like to see a close up of the paint job you did on your bow, from what I can see it looks good. Maybe a video showing your painting technique.

  • @cumbiya Hi cumbiya. My painting technique is pretty simple. I use Krylon camouflage spray paint colors. This paint is made for painting plastic. I lay down a base color and then spray some stripes or blotches of another color and then I use plant foliage as a stencil to spray on more details. There are a lot of YouTube videos for this technique. I think the technique went mainstream after the Movie "Shooter".

  • haha!!!!! Thats funny as hell yet a killer idea at the same time! thats hard to find :) good job man

  • Hey Cricket - another great vid with a really cool design. Poor-man's survival gear is the best! Have you managed to harvest anything with this rig? I figure it may be ideal for shallow water rays..

  • @XeroJaeger Thanks!

I've not yet harvested any fish or stingrays with this rig. The day I shot the video for this video I had about an hours time to shoot several different clips for this vid and then I had to get off the water. Today I got out for two hours at another location that had mullet and a few stingrays. All the stingrays I crossed paths with were dinner plate sized and not worth shooting, I took about 20 shots at mullet and didn't stick one of them. They were moving too fast for me.

  • @SurplusSoldiers

    Thanks! and You're welcome!

  • @CrypticCRICKET hey cryptic what do you use for the bow string? please reply asap... thanks!

  • @1997buddyboy I used 1/8 inch cord. It was some type of very dense low stretch cord. Probably made from Dacron.

  • @CrypticCRICKET thats what u use for the bow string ? if yes where did u get it?

  • @1997buddyboy Seriously! A friend who works in the boat manufacturing industry gave me a whole bunch of that cord. Don't know what it is exactly. It's a very tight braid that has very little stretch.

If you want a real bowstring, check out Stone Mountain Bowstrings on Amazon dot com. It's like $6 for a bowstring from them. You would want to Google the formula for calculating proper bow string length for a longbow.

  • @CrypticCRICKET k thanks bro!
