  • Am I the only one who wants Kelly to sing Some Where Over The Rainbow? She is one I could think of that would do great cover of the song. She would not only sing it beautifully but put some much emotion into it. She is underrated. It's shame to. Kelly is amazing artist.

  • 7 people are insane and can't appreciate true artistry...

  • It cracks me up that fans of a certain singer say that that singer is more verstaile and can sing every genre. Please I don't know what they are smoking but that singer can not sing evey genre. If they wanna here a singer who can sing every genre listen to Kelly right here or other videos. That other singer couldn't pull this off. Kelly proves why she is the most verstaile singer out there. And yes Kelly is THE BEST singer of our time. She is so underrated in today's music, what a shame.

  • @carolinagirl009

I agree. Have you heard her sing Waiting for My Dearie in Brigadoon when she was younger?

  • @lizzyvance Yes, I have. It's amazing. That girl definitely has a gift and is here on this Earth for a reason. :)

  • @carolinagirl009

I know. It’s just amazing to see what she can do live. Kelly is one of my favorite performers. The best thing about her is not only her beautiful voice but the emotion she puts in her performence. She is defiantly most versatile but such good performer. I love the way Kelly sang Ave Marie. If you have not seen it you have to. She did incredible job in my opinion. I wish she would get more credit for how good she is.

  • @lizzyvance Yeah I have seen that video of her singing Ave Marie which is just flawless and that note she hits at the end is amazing. I wish I could do that. And I agree too about the emotion she puts in her performances. I love like how angry she gets in songs like Never Again then the next song she makes you cry when she sings songs like Because of You or That I Would Be Good.

  • @carolinagirl009

Another thing I like about Kelly is she does not overdo her singing it’s just perfect. I was watching battle video with her and another singer. Pretty much all I heard with other singer was oohhhhyeeeeaaaa. It was very annoying to hear. Lol

  • what an incredible singer! one of the best, of not THE BEST, singers of our time.

  • There's no one like Kelly Clarkson. Her dynamic and beautiful voice, her great stage presence, the emotion she puts into a song, her interpretation of the music. She is so super talented and she writes her own music. At the age of 16 to write "Because of You". Her "My December" was brilliant. She is a true artist!!!

  • SHE IS THE BOMB

  • Kelly Clarkson is the most talented singer ever!

  • This song shows how versatile Kelly really is.

  • I just realized how incredibly hard this song is to sing. There are so many vocal nuances that you just have to get just to make it sound passable and Kelly nails it all without even thinking about it.

She truly understands music and it is so apparent in her ability to cross genres effortlessly.

  • This is proof positive that Kelly is the most talented female vocalist of her generation. No other current mainstream female singer out there could pull off a difficult jazz song like this with even one tenth of the authenticity that Kelly puts on it.

Kelly can literally sing ANY style of song and make it her own, and this is just more proof.

  • American Idol definitely got lucky having Kelly Clarkson during its first season and her making it as the winner. During the season she showed she was extremely versatile (I vaguely remember her doing a great rendition of a Broadway tune). Kelly's busy doing her independent rock thing, but hopefully as she gets older she'll turn to other forms of music.

  • I just heard this and I can't say enough about Kelly's talent. She loves all different types of music. And besides loving it all, she can sing it all. I once heard Tony Bennett sing this song the same rendition as KC did. Too bad they didn't do a duet!!!!!

  • She needs to make a big band album seriously i hope her 6th album is that since her 5th album she said is electronic or something :).

She always does something new each album i lovei t.

I wonder when she comes to country.

Man i hope she does a record on most albums ever made xD

  • this is sooooo perfect!!!!1 every part is on point this is why she won the idol show!!!!! she can sing eny & everything!!!

  • what other cover songs have kelly done?

  • Thanks texmatt and musicalife516 for your insights. I really do appreciate your different takes.

AND, nice to have people posting constructive thoughts on this great tune.

  • Not bad--and very talented.

But, how can you sing this song in an upbeat tempo? It's a heartbreaker and, if I may suggest, it's really for an older--school of hard knocks--singer.

  • If you look at some of the clips of earler versions - Ella Fitzgerald/Nat King Cole, Brenda Lee - they're all in an upbeat tempo. I don't know what the original Tony Bennett version sounded like (can't find it online), but I think this song lends itself very well to a fast tempo. And I believe Miss Clarkson was asked to sing this song by Tony himself. Could she say "No"? ; )

  • it depends on the context. it you want to break free and not want to be with the person that you were just with it could be very sexual, powerful and teasing and freeing.

  • Roisin Murphy does the best version of this.

  • Based on your comment, I was curious to hear another version. Ms. Murphy does a great job, but I would classify her more as a vocal stylist than a singer. Her version seems just past spoken word heading towards singing. Very smokey and moody and very effective. But if you're looking for a more melodic and punchy version, Kelly's is the one to go with.

  • LOL. And thanks to you for not responding to my response that way either. I'm sure both of these singers would admire each other, if they don't already.

  • Shes sounds a bit like Bethany Joy Galoetti from One tree hill!! Love them both! :)

  • Kelly sounds amazing...

    she really can sing everything!!!

    Luv that

    Kelly vem pro Brasil!!!POR FAVOR!!

  • I MEAN QUEEN

  • she reminds me of judy garlend. noone can beat her on over the rainbow. she is amazing. but kelly could come close. KELLY is the versile queem.. BEST

  • I never said Kelly was not the best vocals of our generation. Judy Garlend is not in our generation. Not even close. Kelly is one of my favorite artists. I love her voice.

  • Judy Garland is a fucking legend. Sad to see some people of this generation discredit Judy and her talent. Even her level of success at her peak completely over shadows Kelly and I love Kelly to death.

Oh, and I believe it was her song that got the award of "Song of the Century". Just saying.

  • there is a difference between our "Generation" and our "Lifetime". Kelly's generation is Generation Y, which runs from 1980. Either way does it really matter who is "better" (which means different things to different people anyway) lets just be grateful we get to hear these amazing artists.

  • Hey retard Judy Garland is the most amazing vocalist of HER generation. Sadly she is long gone but her soul still thrives in her music. There are little girls out there who still watch The Wizard of Oz and look at Judy and go, "I hope I have atleast 1/100th of her talent so I can be successful just like her." Stop being an ignorant asshole and take your stupidity elsewhere, it is not welcome here.

  • has kelly sing any other tribute. AMAZING

  • She sang for Reba (country queen) on CMT Crossroads and went on tour with her. Listen to "Kelly Clarkson The greatest man I never knew" or "Kelly Clarkson Why haven't I heard from you."

  • Yes, she has. Along with this, she has done tributes for Reba McEntire, Aerosmith & sang WITH The Wreckers on their song 'Cigarettes' & Rascal Flatts with their song 'What Hurts The Most'. Does anybody know anymore?

  • she sang with En vogue

  • i would get her jazz album if she did. that would rock...

  • Is there better footage of this song?

  • Kelly needs to make a jazz album.

  • yes its Cole Porter' song...

    but this her version rules!!

    but i cant find a good quality version mp3(at least 190kbps )

    what a voice

  • rolling stones ranking list shows shit artists rly dont look at that ranking if kelly clarkson is 10 or above on a ranking that ranking is correct XD

  • That list was so messed up. Bob Dylan was in the to 10. Kelly should've been in the top 10 at least.

  • FYI: the song was written by Cole Porter, not Tony Bennet.

  • an amazing artist! Cant wait for the new material!

  • This is NOT a Tony Bennett song...Cole Porter.

  • Yes, thanks. From the musical Can-Can.

  • wow! how the hell is Christina Aguilera in Rollingstone's top 100 greatest singer of all time and not Kelly?

  • @DeoMoto thats some bs. Kelly really should be #1 on that list. She can literally sing ANYTHING with no struggle. SHe makes any genre suit her voice so perfectly, and all the covers she sings, she adds her own special touch to make it sound even better than the original. She wows me everytime, never sings a bad note. Therefor it is clearly obvious that she has the best voice in the music industry...I mean 8 years later in the music industry, Kelly is even better than ever!

  • @illdymeond hey go back and read Deomotos thing. your agreeing with them haha

  • @carlys011 i know i am agreeng with him .. I think its BS that she didnt make the list. She should be #1 on the list, therefor i agree with his comment. how on earth did she not make the list??? =(

  • @DeoMoto and Christina is like 21 lol and tey wrote that she influenced kelly.. when i read it i was like WTF.. and i am an xtina fan

  • lets see Carrie Underwood do this

  • I agree 1000% I can't see many artist singing this type of song so on point or so well including Leona, Carrie, Beyonce, Christina etc.

  • First thing I heard her sing that I kind of enjoyed. PS this song is by Cole Porter, not Tony Bennett.

  • If you don't like her more rock stuff...listen to "Kelly clarkson up to the mountain"

  • She truly can sing ANYTHING...she's amazing

  • The tone of her voice is so perfect for this genre.

Kelly Clarkson could sing anything short of metal or rap (althought it would be hilarious to see her try that).

=D Can't wait for her next album.

  • she's effing amazing! she can literally sing ANY genre.

  • i love this song! I bought it on i tunes immediately when i found this song

  • I wish she'd do a standards album. Her voice is reminiscent of a young Judy Garland at times when she sings in this style. And she can sure BELT like judy.

  • I agree! Her voice is perfect for something like this - a little more vintage.

  • She's so amazing that it even doesn't sound like her.

  • WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't heard her sing anything like that since she sang "Stuff Like that There" on AI. That was absolutely amazing!

  • Covered it well, on par with Sinatra's and Ella's.

  • She can sing anything. Truly beautiful voice. I would like her to record a big band album.

  • WOW I LOVE HER SHES AMAZING

    this girl can sing ANYTHING

    Rock,Pop,R&B,Country,Blues,Gospel,Classical,Opera etc GOTTA LOVE KELLY

  • Definitely the best versatile singer ever.

  • i absolutely love her voice on these kind of songs.

  • I'm still absolutely stunned by how varied her voice can be. She can sing anything, and she can sing anything AMAZINGLY. Seriously, think about how many styles we've heard her sing already. Pop, rock, blues, country-lite (Because of You duet and the leaked songs), classical music, and Italian Opera. Wow.

  • Nobody has belted out a Cole Porter song like that since Ethel Merman. I think she could have a great career singing from the Great American Songbook.

  • wow look at kelly wearing heals! never thought id see the day xx

  • kelly is such an amazing person.

i had the priviledge of meeting her at a meet and greet november 2007 in Los Angeles and she is honestly the sweetest person.

she even told me she liked my glasses!!!

    LOVE LOVE LOVE her!!!!

  • This tune is not Tony's, it is Cole Porter's.

  • didn't brenda lee cover this song?

  • everyone covered this song..lol..I think so did ella fitzgerald

  • yes she did,

  • Simply amazing!

  • I hope her next album is a little more versatile musically. The rock thing kicks butt, but I think America needs to be reminded that she can sing EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!

  • i so agree!

  • I agree also and I grew up on rock music. But to let this music fade out is truly letting music with a great melody line, chord structure and lyric fade out. These songs can sell themselves in the simplest of forms but most contemporary rock needs a lot of production.

  • Her new album will be more pop-rock which is fine by me. She does it wonderfully.

I do hope she makes a Big Band album though. I would pay money to see her sing those songs.

  • she can really sing any kind of music

  • I totally agree! She is amazing.

  • omg.!speechless!!

  • Wow. This is amazing. This girl can jump genres like no other.

  • omg sooo good.

  • she is such a natural brilliant talent. Love her rock, love her standards, love her soul singing, and look forward to hearing that country album, although I don't own a one. I will own hers. This girl can do it all. It is uncanny actually. I have worked with many famous singers and they can't jump styles like Kelly can. They sound the same. She literally changes energy, voice production. And she OWNS it. Amazing.

  • That was really great! That girl is just a phenomenal singer, she can sing anything! Vocally she is actually very underrated...It's a real shame.

And she did kinda mess up the lyrics...LOL!!!

  • she needs to sing more of this and "breakaway" (haha)from the rock stuff that's damaging her voice. She sounds good either way, but i'm oldfashioned, and i love when she sange stuff like that there

  • well she'll prob. sing what she likes more..and sining rock is not damaging unless you have no idea what you are doing

  • but there isn't a market for pop-jazz songs/big band-ish songs.

  • well, christina;s album sold well, and if kelly opted to matket her album to some of the older folks with duets with people like tony bennet and others of the era, she could bring back the age of jazz. i would sure listen to her a lot more. not to say i dont listen to her now, but i sure do wish she had an album in the same genre of this song. she and her studio/record co. friends could make this work.

  • trust me, nothing would make me happier if we had more soul/jazz/standards type of singing. Kelly could rule that world if she wanted (in the contemporary world that is). Christina's album had elements of jazz but her voice was still power pop ballad diva. Kelly has the smokiness and dark timbre to pull it off authentically.

  • can't stand the timbre of Christina's voice. She is talented, no doubt, but she never sings from the top of the chords, but from the back of the chords. Always sounds like she just drank a glass of milk. Like Marvin the Martian from looney tunes.

  • You do realize...this was recorded just after she recorded My December? When her voice was at its worst?

  • I'm pretty sure this was recorded WHILE she was working on "My December". She finished the Addicted tour in August.

  • She finished recording ALL the songs in late September/October.

  • She is sooo freakin under rated!!!!!!!

  • yep she is in a way. when some retarded people bring down kelly's vocal and treat her like a bad live singer. it gets me really irritated.

  • ok its official..she can sing anything. the most talented idol yet

  • CarrotCo.

Oh Holy One With Devine Introspect...Will I win the Lotto?? Huh! Huh!

  • lol

  • Bye CarrotCompany

  • kelly is a legend and wat has she ever done to use u all need to get lives kelly is amazing and ur all just jelouse

  • stay away from the troll people!

  • tony benedetto

  • She WON American Idol by singing the classics, including "Natural Woman", "Respect", and "Without You".

And she does NOT need to rely on material brought her. She wrote 3 out of 5 of her number one hits from Breakaway (Behind These Hazel Eyes, Because of You, Walkaway) and the Top 10 hit from My December (Never Again). And her song "Because of You" won Song of the Year at various professional songwriter awards. And she wrote the music to all of the songs on My December.

  • What did she looks like at the Emmy's?

  • Kelly wasn't really at the Emmy's . The had a nomination for the American Idol Finale and they showed kelly signing "Sgt Pepper" for le 10secondes .

  • Oh thanks so much!

I was so confused, I looked for ages for pictures.

  • Ok ;)

  • She doesn't need to write she needs to sing.

    SINGING IS WHERE IS AT.

SOME OF THE BEST SONGS, HAVE ALREADY BEEN WRITTEN. There is just a LACK OF TRUE SINGERS, with the depth and talent singing them. Kelly is off to a start..but so is Christina. At least they can take a page out of Ronstadt.

  • man u r crazy!!!! wat do u mean she doesnt have the pipes of whitney or too inexpierienced????? simon cowell compared her to whitney! and simon knows wat he is doing....not u! i am just asking dont talk about stuff u dont know anything bout leave it to the pros...and leave kelly alone!

  • sry this si to carrotcompany

  • i highly doubt that i think shes gonna be singing til the day shes dies she is way to popular and way to good to be short lived, and yes to ageleky5936 she is doing wat she loves and people love her and wat she does also so there is no reason for her not to sing forever.

  • Gained a lot of weight? Hardly. Put down your tabloids and step back for a second. Kelly is a healthy, normal woman. SHE dropped her management company- who else would be to blame for booking an arena tour for an album no one had heard yet? Kelly's weeded out who she needed to; people only looking out for their best interest. She finally has the perfect team around her that.

Kelly isn't some fallen pop starlet. She knows what she's doing, and she's doing it right.

  • oh come on. her management organised the tour that was cancelled and kelly prefers smaller intimate performances. i dont like ppl who chat wat they dont know!

  • Girls. I've been a good boy and listened to your suggestions. Because "Stuff Like There" has a shuffle beat, does not make it a "swing" song, but I didn't like it anyway. She doesn't know what she is doing. She's too young. She should continue to try and be the next Celine with big power ballads. Then with maturity, perhaps a light bulb will go on one day and she'll finally understand, and so will you.

  • also carrotcompany..just curious what do you think of kelly when she sang stuff like that there?

Youtube "kelly clarkson stuff like that there"

You don't think she is interpreting the song correctly?

  • I agree with carrie. Carrot I love all those singers you named, including Joni Mitchell and Karen Carpenter, and it is obviously you dislike kelly. However, you didn't have to call us "airheads" or "girls." It was uncalled for. We like kelly and see her talent, you don't. Let's all leave it at that and stop arguing. Good Day.

  • people should also listen to kelly sing brenda lee's song "sweet nothings"..it was great..youtube the phrase

    kelly clarkson sweet nothings

  • your an idiot if you think buble can even sing the raspy growls needed for rock songs. You are obviously ignorant and think everything you like is the best way. Kelly could easily sing Buble's music as they are all simple melodies in the middle register, for the most part.

  • and the reason no new talent comes is b/c the record labels are pushing trashy thin women as talent to the public, and YOU are perpetuating it by saying kelly should be thin as nobody else is chubby in the industry. Kelly is a normal girl and she is against the hollywood imagery of beauty- that is a good thing.

  • Finally you hate on Kelly, yet she urges creativity in the mainstream music. She went against clive to sing what she wrote, hence trying to not be "packaged." She also promotes indie artists and looks up to role models like reba. She is anything BUT the average mainstream singer, and yet you are scolding her for it. Also a lot of those "old" singers WERE paackaged. They did not write all of their songs and the music companies wanted then to make #1's.

  • also I do listen to linda, peggy, brenda, etc. But I am not close minded. You can not like kelly that is fine, but don't belittle her. Also not all fans of kelly are little girls. Finally, as a last tidbit, Michael Buble voted for kelly on American Idol and said in an interview how amazing talented she is. So talent knows talent. (btw I am not angry, I just think the way you say things is said in a rude manner..love who you love but you don't need to bring artists down)

  • I hope "Brenda Lee and her sister Peggy" is meant to convey "sisters" in a musical sense, for they surely were not biological sisters. I for one find Kelly's voice refreshing in a world of no-talents like Brittney Spears & Jessica Simpson or over-the-top vocal gymnasts like Christina Aguilera. Kelly's voice is strong, clear and controlled with a pleasing tone and a certain charm to it. I think she did a great job for a young woman singing out of her comfort zone. I'm sure Tony was delighted.

  • "Kelly's voice is strong, clear and controlled with a pleasing tone and a certain charm to it."

I like your description - can i use it?

  • Go for it. Are you her publicist? ; )

  • rosemary clooney said kelly was a great singer, so did tony bennett and aretha franklin. Carole king also loved her so her husband worked with kelly in the past. Not everyone will like kelly, but she definitely can sing.

  • Also kelly's weight is irrelevant to music. Ella was heavy, and so was aretha franklin and many other singers. Who cares how singers look. I think you are just in that mode where everything in the past=better. Nobody sounds like connie francis and brenda lee anymore, just like nobody sounded like Christina Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson in the 1960's. Appreciate diversity. All these women have gifts, just in different ways.

  • yes people have heard of those singers. Again, comparing "old singers" to contemporary singers do not make sense. Different vocal techniques because of a different musical era. Most singers back then sang softly and just sang the melody, then around the 80's everyone wanted to sing with power.

  • that was a duet, this is a solo rendition. That was sung in the past, probably the 50's, kelly's version has more tempo and a big band feel..Of course they will be different. It is simply a different interpretation.

  • not to mention, we should be happy that someone in mainstream music can actually sing. 95% of mainstream singers can't sing live, let alone sing with kelly's range...Also watch kelly singing the song "because of You" for tony bennett. She has great lyrical interpretation skills.

  • she sounds amaizing singing everything

  • This is freakin' awesome. Love the KC hand gestures. That's how you know it's her. Very "Without You" AI finale night when she was wearing that tacky maroon shirt and scarfy belt thing. But man, can she sing.

  • scarfy...lol

    She's amazing

  • love kelly.she can sing anything ..U GO GIRL

  • What's truly amazing about Kelly is that she still does not realize the effect that her voice has on people. She dosen't hear what we hear. That's probably what makes her better and better everytime.

  • serously, is there ANYTHING at all Kelly can sing that wont sound absolutely perfect?!

  • i want to hear opera kelly. I know she started out as an opera singer.

  • i totally agree the girl could sing the freakin dictionary... she is soooo underrated.... everyone forgets what got her where she is... see american idol the 1st season and you can see this voice... but i personally luv the new album... its totally kelly... raw emotional... but if she sang an album like this i would sooo buy it.... could just listen to her forever

  • yeah unfortunarely this kind doesn't make a lot of money to rca.

  • She could sing the phonebook and I would pay to hear it!!! Freakin' Amaaazzzzing!!!

  • she can sing just about anything! such an amazing girl!

  • That is amazing!

  • WOW!!! she sounds sooo awesome!!

  • jaw-droppingly amazing. sometimes i forget just how flippin' fantastic she is.

  • Kelly can sing ANYTHING... honestly... the only time I've ever heard her sound bad was at the MTVVMA a couple years ago, and she was losing her voice and sounded horrid... otherwise I've never heard her sound anything but AMAZING!!!!!!!

  • I personally hate jazz, so this song sucks in my world, but you guys are right, her voice IS amazzing!

  • Awesome!! her voice is amazing! thanks for putting this up!=)

  • shes sooo cool, her voice is just soo natural

  • i would've never believed that was Kelly if I were just listening to it. She has an amazing voice, no doubt!! I knew it was her though, by the hand movements. Awesome!

  • Big news! It was announced on 04/26/07 that Kelly is going to tour in North America in the Summer of 2007!

  • She most certainly did not ruin her voice....although there were performances where her vocals lacked and I too feared she had. However, this proof that her voice is bette than ever. The way she changes genres so easily is incredible--she is so blessed. and jaiedana listen to her version of Because of You....tell me she cant sing a slow song after that!

  • how can you say that she didnt do a remarkable job.. she is awesome.. her voice sounded great..

  • Being able to sing another genre is taxing in itself. We should give her constructive criticism, like techniques on maintaining her voice with the shouting, not judging her personal choice. No one tell us that we're doing the wrong job. We'd be very upset with that. Why are people doing it to her? She deserves encouragment. She's living her dream, how many of us are doing the same?
