  • reminds me of hl2

  • This is really good

  • do you guys have a video for just the theme music or soundtrack of this video? if not you should make one it would be much appreciated

  • Unexpected ending! But overall it was 10/10!

  • mmmmmmmmm in 2062 the most powerful army on earth is armed with equipment for 15 years to carry gas masks in the 1990 Gulf War? the story is very similar to killzone, terminator salvation etc ......

  • Where did you get your costumes?

  • BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this video is false... 2012 is coming and we will all die... just kidding. This video is awesome! You guys are freakin awesome! Subscribed

  • I just finished my first ever video, i haven't uploaded it yet but i will soon and i used a lot of the filming techniques in Hollow as inspiration for mine. however mine doesn't even come close to this. Great job guys!

  • Inspired by Half-Life 2 I guess.

  • Combine Soldiers all round here!

  • That was a pretty great thing that i just watched!

  • Interesting ;-) and nice eqipment!

    Greez from Germany!

  • i have a question for you: im working on a film right now that involves more futuristic looking armor stuff. i really like the armor that your enemy is wearing, like the arm guards, elbow guards, etc. you said in one of the other comments that you borrowed the costumes from friends. would you happen to know where they got the guards from? or could you point me in the right direction to find some like that? thanks so much, amazing film btw

  • Truly Amazing. Please make a DVD version. You have my fav, like and sub.

  • i want to buy copy of the whole movie...how?

  • one qestion if 2065 and ships from outa space wont you guys be shooting high tec weapons like lasers and shit| and more advance defences mec | Great flim btw excellent

  • High pitched wail @7:44

  • Wilhelm scream ftw!

  • pretty amazing, I would suggest practice the acting just a tad though and study swat infultration for that last bit of realism.

  • damn... amazing

  • That movie shows a lot of talent from everybody involved.

    Great job!!

  • do u have a tutorial for the bullet traces?

  • vey nice film, but i can't see how it would be considered a Sci-Fi considering that everyone is human in the story line, but still, i loved it

  • @OperationThrax did you miss the spaceship at the start ?

  • @easyasproductions no, but isn't the CORPS a Human government

  • @OperationThrax Yes but sci-fi doesn't mean aliens irobot was a sci-fi and wheres the aliens in that ?

  • @OperationThrax dude scifi doesn't mean it has to have aliens or alien technology in it, it just has to have futuristic aspects to it, or futuristic settings with a made up storyline/world LOL

  • Excellent.

  • Wait, so whats in the package?

  • what type of airsoft gun did the corps troops use? what model?

  • nice use of the wilhelm scream! i lol'd

  • the enemy look like combine from half life 2 with low human tech weapons

  • @ 27:25-27:30 did anyone else notice someone moving in the bushes in the background?

ohh...and the boots are sometimes very very clean for a war scene :))

other than that...GREAT JOB!!! nicely done

  • This near-future war film has a lot of heart in it.. reminds me a lot of a short I made a couple years ago, called RUSTWOOD, like our two films could be in the same universe, two completely different stories in the same world. I know you'd appreciate it (I was at the same level you were with HOLLOW, I think).

  • very very good. the only problem is the sound quality of people talking is shit

  • Wow. Great job. The story was pretty good, the acting wasn't good, but MAN the VFX were stunning! Dude, whoever worked on that is amazing. I know how hard some of that stuff is! One question: For all that outer space stuff did you use a 3D modeling program or just after effects?

  • Brilliant! Best low budget film ever

  • My ONLY suggestion would be to get some nice audio equipment (I know it's easier said than done). I am assuming you guys used the mics on camera and didn't have a boom or anything like that. If you did have a boom then it sounds like you are using dynamic mics instead of condensers. Either way this is a FANTASTIC movie, especially for the budget and if the sound quality for the actors had been a little better I think this would have been the most amazing $200 movie ever made (if not already).

  • I've seen a lot of war movies with different forms of vfx, this one just kicked all of there asses! nice job dude!

  • @Xtronify haha thanks!

  • was the explosion a mixture of after effects and realness

  • @americanmutt100 Actually, you are mistaken here... Despite the fact that this is an indie production, no real producer would add these costs.

A real producer would hire, for example, a CG company and he would add how much he paid them to the budget. He would not add how much the computers of the company cost... So, if the CG were made by rosenchuck1then it was free... The same goes for cameras etc...

What really matters budget-wise is how much money the producer spent from concept to finish

  • @americanmutt100 The costumes and gas money were the main costs, we were able to have food donated, as well as many of the props borrowed from friends. The CG was done by Jason Kummerfeldt, the co-producer of this film. The camera equipment was borrowed from our school for free. All the camera and editing work was done by us two. You clearly don't know what you're talking about :/

  • @rosenchuck1 yeah you just buy a costume and return it.

  • @americanmutt100 lol at how dumb you are

  • lol at how dumb you are

  • @americanmutt100 First of all, "you must thing everything is free but its not." I'm going to ignore the serious issues with that sentance and state that, honestly, you seem like a bigot. Making movies isn't about the most graphically advanced, or how high the budget is and how high the amount of money spent was. Films are a form of play, which, in the west, was invented by the Greeks, who gave us democracy. They also shaped the language that you're pissing on. Thanks.

  • What program did you use to make 31:51?

  • @ToasterStuder It's a digital matte painting tracked in with adobe after effects.

  • @rosenchuck1 hey i want to make a si fi movie but no one wants to do it with me the place i live in is full of arabs wich dont speak english so fucking annoyed i wrote the script got the camrea then my frined left the country

  • hey where did you get all this sweet gear?

  • How the heck did you do all that with $200? AMAZING.

  • I cant hear when they talk?

  • epic im subscribing dude you should make another movie it can be another war one but i think you should make a zombie one that is actouly good because i have watched lots of xombies movie movies but vary few have been good....zombieland is probally the only good zombie movie ive seen

  • I like what you have done here. BUT(lol) I think you should work with lowering and raising the voice Level's at some points the character's voice seems very low and other's loud. Or try having your characters speak in the same Monotone.

    Just some constructive critism

  • This is fuckin' amazing!! Keep it up! Just one thing, in the action scenes the music is not realy good.

  • I think its great done and all, but one thing that I thought off, most off ur clothes look really clean and new, should probably get urself more dirty :D

  • " This film was produced on a "budget" of $200 " What would you do if you had 2 million?!?!?

  • Will there be a second part to this movie? PLEASE MAKE A SECOND PART! You guys are like professional movie makers and this movie was so enjoyable to watch. sure it was sad a bit but it really brings out emotion. Thanks for making it.

  • what kind of camera were you using durin this

  • Just one question.... Why are they all wearing gas masks????

  • @ashinms Only food available in the future is Mexican

  • What kind of Special Effects program did you use?

  • Good Job,

    nice locations! and effects

The production sound is really pulling me out of it though, coz the dialogue is recorded badly keeps reminding me that its a no budget film and that im not in this world.

i feel like there is to much music that doesnt gel for me. especially in the battle scenes,

the hand held camera stuff is working nicely (children of men), achieving a realistic gritty style, but the music kinda removes it, check out saving private ryan

maybe dump that wilhem scream too

  • I love when people ask for Constructive criticism. Turns me on so to speak. First of all i think you did awesome, I loved the graphics, The posters all over the place were very cool and I like how you guys had so many, I don't, non generic shots and angles. Very cool. My only negative critiques are that I thought the opening shot was extremely long (loved the graphics and music there though) I can see what you were trying to do there but it was to long. Also, the plot was very jerky and fast.

  • russian and american weapons..what country would be this....? awesome anyways!

  • ok at 24:6 or some thing there that is very fast falling in love .

  • this is awsome if u keep it up u can be a james camaorn

  • I just Cant Belive it only took 200.00 dollars to make. Impressive, extremely Impressive. I would love to see what you gouys could do with 1 million dollar budget.

PPl at columbia pictures and WB are making a huge mistake of not looking you guys up

  • anyone no the name of the song in the frist battle?

  • is this on DVD? you should sell it.

  • another amasing film the hits keep coming. is there a hollow 2?

  • is this inspired by hl2?

  • 7:43...somehow I know that scream...

  • @rabidfox1 It's called the Wilhelm scream. It's used in a lot of stuff.

  • @AssterBlaster ahhh...that's right. I couldn't remember the name. Yes, Lucas uses it in nearly all of his films. I love it.

  • I think it is kind of bad that I needed a headset to get a good sound out of this. Only downside with this beast of a movie! Really liked it! KEEP IT UP

  • The part when he shot her and he started yelling i dont think it worked that well he should have screamed some thing like what the hell and slowly walked and then picked up into a sprint

  • Excellent script and visual effects.

The very beginning with the nameless/faceless dropship troopers coming down reminded me of the novel 1984. Very cool feel in that scene.

Only part I thought was lacking was the hand to hand combat. Seemed a little too much like a pushing match, and less like a one on one, dogfight for survival. Best representation of that is probably from Saving Private Ryan. Great reference for that kind of fight.

Anyway awesome job overall!!! Really enjoyed it!!

  • That Battle scene was excellent. Absolutely excellent.

  • I thought you guys made a solid film. Likeable character (looks like christian bale sometimes), a decent storyline, cool camerawork and music that I thought worked pretty well. I still don't buy the 200 dollar thing though. ;) anyways, you guys have a freaking future in film. Keep at it.

  • anybody notice in the Thanks part of the credits it says Shadow the Cat

    lol

  • how much money did it take u?

  • @ThePeepeeface Read the fucking description...

  • What's the name of the song at the end?

  • Respect.

  • Really pretty good quality, I only have 1 suggestion to make the movie more realistic and this is coming from a novice... the sound has too much echo maybe insulate the rooms on the ceilings or somthing but it looks pretty good!

  • Great video but i kinda liked the girl and was sad to see that she was a spy :(

  • quick question:

where the hell do u guys find a post apocalyptic town to film in??

  • you guys should make a part 2 of this one very great job keep them coming =) and i subscribed because of this =D

  • I hope this wasnt real

  • ummmm number 2 please!

  • BEST VIDEO EVER PUT ON YOUTUBE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD EVER...FOREVER. But in all truth it is an awsome movie. i loved it. it looked like a spelberg film (not sure how to spell his name.) anyways it looked like a hollywood movie.

  • Great small budget Movie Guys. Like the whole settings and the effects looking good enough to believe there where real. Hope to see more films of your studio. And dont get big, that whould destroy you, look at hollywood.

  • this was a very well made film... however, i have a slight bit of constructive criticism, the writing in the scene with von drack was cliche and could've been a bit more realistic...however it was really good and really enjoyable. good job!!

  • Is anyone else not hearing audio? I can hear the soundtrack but no voices...

  • Awesome job! Really Great! Two questions:

    1. What software did you use?

    2. What camera did you shoot on?

  • i have literally searched youtube all over for a good war film that i could watch and use as inspiration for a film im working on and finally i found one! amazing job 5/5

  • I only have one thing to say about this: Half-Life

  • Woot! 60,000!

  • I'm kinda confused about the kissing scene around minute 24.... but other than that, AMAZING job. 5 stars and a like. I can't believe you did all this with 200 bucks!

If you're ever going to make a sequel, I'd love to help. I live in Ohio, so that's a bit of a problem, but I could help for concepts and stuff like that.

Again, well done! I've already uploaded it to my FB, and I'm now spreading it to my friends.

  • This is pretty good my only complaint is the audio

  • Dude, I love this movie. I made it my mission to make movies like this and I've been trying to find inspiration. You're a great filmmaker man and you inspire me. I'll be sure to watch all your productions. Also, I love that you put in the Wilhelm Scream at around 7:43, I'm a big fan of using the Wilhelm Scream and have used it in one of my movies, again, great job sir, my hat is tipped to you.

  • 7:25 fucking campers

  • 1) How the hell did you pull this off with only $200?!

    2) How did I just now find this?

    3) I'm sharing this with everyone I know.

4)Great music selection. Very fitting at each part.

The only downsides: the acting could be better (the Sarah chick seems to have no emotion when she first shows up), as could the CG parts. But for $200, damn impressive.

And the kiss around 24 minutes was completely random...

  • killzone!

  • This is a great film! Keep up the good work!

  • How did you do that in the very beginning? The writing in air glowing thing?

  • The only thing I can think of what you need improvement in, is the acting.

It wasn't bad, but not much more then okey.

    Everything else, top notch.

  • The space shots remind me of Serenity.

  • cool vid

  • Wow, amazing Work!! What Cameras did you use ? HVX 200? Looks like a 4:2:2 Camera..

  • What camera did you use?

  • All this is all impossible because the world's supposed to end in 2012! :P

JK. Great movie! Exactly what software did you use? Also, how did you get some of those awesome sound effects?

Loved it and keep up the good work!! :D

  • Am I the only one who thinks this awesome film deserves more views!? :D

  • loved it, subed, now onto the next movie...

  • Why doesn't this have at least a million views?

  • I will definitely share this with people I know. You did fantastically for what little you had.

  • Could have done post voice overs to cut out that darned echo

  • It was awesome, the only thing i have to say is that the music did not suit the film and also it looped too much

  • This reminded me of the movie Che. It had the long haired docter who also led the rebels fighting agaisnt the oppressive military dictatorship. More than one connection to the Cuban and South American revolutions to me. Great job. Five Star and Subscibe.

  • @Sebatman18 Thanks man, it's an honor that you would even think of comparing this with that awesome film :)

  • @Sebatman18 maybe you mean the long-haired doctor, you imbecile

  • This reminded me of the movie Che. It had the long haired docter who also led the rebels. Great job.

  • 28:48 - OH SNAP

  • nice acting, nice directing.i ve spoted some mistakes (i r geek ye) but its just ok!who doesn't make mistakes!very good job!Lovely!

  • 25 people didnt survive 2069 war

  • wish i wouldve saw more hand to hand combat in the begining-ish area, and more tactical movements ect with the goverment soldiers but other than that awwwwwsome also mabey move the camera a little shaky to get the saving private ryan effect.

  • ...love it. Always been into the whole sci/fi war story. Shit, LOVED the inside of the buuildings.

  • Guys just posted a video response that is a short film myself and a friend made, please watch if you have the time and any comment would be much appreciated. Loved this film and is actually one of our inspirations for the short.

  • lol cummerfel

  • Pretty good but please don't overdo the wobbly hand-held camera trick. It makes it very hard to watch.

  • the guitar at like 16 minutes-ish didn't fit very well

i think you should have just had the spooky music on its one

  • this wasnt that good

  • Loved it!

  • Hollow now has a page on IMDb! Check it out and maybe write a review:

    Hollow (2010) (IV)

  • @PingWoe yussssss

  • it looks lik they filming in milwaukee

  • Hay mate this is pretty awsome stuff man! My only thing that I would say for future films is maby thinking of using some ADR, the diolaug shots inside buildings had too much echo ruining the sound.... but other then that, super effing kudos man!!!!

  • the guy actor is not bad

  • @blackhart1996 Thanks man we really appreciate it :)

Most of the cgi was done in after effects, and some blender for modeling.

  • @rosenchuck1 Where did you film all the abondoned city scenes?

  • Very nice!

  • it's bad boring movie

    bah bah bah!!!!!

my ass is better than this crap!!!

  • Probably the best short film i have seen on youtube!

  • You could use this as a springboard for investors or production companies....there's a chance that if they like it, they'd be interested in producing a feature based off the film with a larger budget. It holds much promise for a film done for $200.

  • Apparently Chuck Norris died... Thats when the world ends..

  • about how much did it cost to make?

  • Other than the really bad dialog, I really liked the action and CG :)

  • Sound was pretty bad and the CG was noticeably fake but good set design and costumes. And a great thing to pull off for a few hundred bucks. But I'm glad to see more SF filmmakers!!

  • boring. if you're only working with $200 you could've at least came up with an original story.

  • how long did it take to film this and edit it?

  • @NoobTubeStudio about 6 months i think...

  • best youtube movie

  • Only 200USD???!!! WOW....!

What could you make from 1500USD? I have about 1500USD for a film... ;) ...

  • If only yelling at a girl actually made them kiss you....

On a relevant note, fantastic film! Keep it up, you guys are really inspiring!

  • Exceptional film. I hope that I can make movies like this someday. I did notice a few things, as @PingWoe said.

    Pros:

    -Exceptional acting

-Well done on the visual effects and foley

-Costumes and setting ware realistic, gave it a "destroyed world" look

    Cons:

-The romance subplot was somewhat forgotten.

-It was kind of a bad ending, but then again it wasn't supposed to be that long.

-The digital animation for the ships in space was slightly noticeably fake, but I couldn't have done better.

  • Very good! I really have nothing to say!

  • very well done only thing is th sound quality was a little iffy sometimes. Do you use a boom pole or camera mount? if you only use the camera mount try the boom pole. In the newest video im working on I notice a huge difference in my sound

  • Con:

    - The dialogue feels somewhat forced and at times redundant - characters kind of repeat themselves.

    - The package subplot is, as somebody said, brought up and forgotten. The romance subplot feels utterly out of place - glad it was dropped, but it shouldn't have been in there at all.

    - The ending is appropriately bleak but at the same time lacks closure.

But who gives a shit? This is the best war movie you guys could make with the time and money- until the next one, anyway! 9/10

    John

  • Oh, you want constructive criticism? I haven't watched this since it was posted, but now that I've seen it again:

    Pro:

    - Main plot is good enough for a war-themed movie- literal brothers in arms.

    - Action scenes are the best they could be on the budget (I should know, I had to get into it!)

    - The look, from the (digital) landscapes to the rundown buildings, successfully evokes a world killing itself through conflict.

    - The camera movements are used effectively, as are the cuts.

  • Where were those empty houses at 22:48? Interesting location...

  • wow I love the color of the film, nice FX too. ...but...I don't I get the music...

I would think something this cool would have an action packed orchestra behind it...

  • Awesome compositing and VFX! You shoulda of had all your actors do ADR in a studio environment for sound to match.

  • This is great! I really enjoyed it. Very good script, visual, score, acting. Just shows a good movie can be made without a hollywood budget. Keep up the great work!
