  • I'm working on the same except I have a LG motor. The washer drum mounts on a tri-arm which is perfect for props or a disc to mount a VAWT. Look inside an LG front load washer at the store and you will see what I mean. Also, the shipping bolt holes in the drum are an excellent place for frame attachments. Some appliance repair places toss appliances outside for the junk man to pick up. Also, you can find cheap front loaders on Craig's List sometimes-cheaper than buying the parts individualy

  • What is the resistance of that motor?

  • You could wire the stator to 2 or 3 individual submerged plates. Try this without a rectifier diode. Diodes drop voltage somewhat. Thanks

  • hi have you tried horse shoe magnets in a outer circle or could you the flux plays in the horse shoe top look at joe cell talks 2 he explains

  • @honda4004 Thanks for the tip. I will check it out.

  • GE Harmony washers use the same system

  • C'mon man we're waiting for your windmill! : )

  • @MandalayWind Its in the middle of being built right now. My problem is i work on way too many project at once.

  • @hhoball No pressure. We do the same. It helps make each project more intriguing. Reusing is better than recycling and these motors have many applications and are quite well built. The trick is to make sure they are sealed with a quality varnish for the elements. You also may have to rewire the stator unless you are going grid tie. They put out high voltage. Have you ever tried using 120 ac unaltered to make hydrogen? You would have to start with very little electrolite to not draw too many amps

  • @MandalayWind Or use a transformer to drop the voltage down to a reasonable voltage and the amperage goes up at the same time so no power is lost.

  • It has potential for a micro-hydro system as well! This video put me on a new track.

Are there low RPM washer or dyer motors that run 100 to 200 rpm?

  • @InTheSticks0001 Do you mean rotor/stator type motors like this, or any ac motor?

  • you have knex?

  • @PCMaster1ful I am not sure what knex is?

  • This looks very similar to the smartdrive motors we have in Fisher & Paykel washing machines in NZ. If you solder a wire to the bridge on the motor and use it as neutral you will have three seperate phases to draw from.

  • wow dude ! just awesome ... check out the hho turbine i am building .. the platter discs will be perfect ..

    great job !

    IST

  • Is this a USA model. The one we have here in the UK looks like a conventional washing machine motor but is the only DC first one i tried but couldn't get enough RPM without gearing. What i wouldn't give for one of these motors.

  • awsome. i hope all of your projects workout!

  • Those motor are amazing , I been trying to get my hands on one for a while now ..Those things make really good power from what I have seen ..

  • As you know, i recondition major appliances and i see alot of second hand machines. Well this is the first whirlpool cabrio motor i have ever had someone thow away. I dont expect to see many of them because that machine has only been sold for 4 years now. I hope to see more soon. If the price to buy them new ever comes down, i will post the part# so people can order them, but as it stands now, they are just too expensive to purchase.

    Stay Safe.

  • That washer motor generator is just amazing. Have you seen the inverter that plugs into your wall socket? (feeds electric in) They claim your elecrtic needs will take electric from it first before going to the grid power.

  • I am pretty sure i know what you mean. Are there any videos you've seen that show it?
