to me, it is not the art but how you train. if you were to train any style the same way muai thai trains, you would be very good at what you do. i.e. kyokushin trains hard and they can take a hit. their bodies are trained to take a beating. muai thai guys are the same. their bodies are trained to take a beating. if you take any style and train that way, you might see more martial art styles in the ufc and in the ring. the harder you train, the harder you are to beat.
i dont think either guy practices either style the video says they do. the tdk fighter is slow as shit and the thai fighter keeps his hands down. actually the supposed "thai" fighter in this video fights more like a tkd guy then they supposed tkd guy does. i think both men are karate fighters to be honest.

@Bagel156 I see what you mean now but that's just one theory that exists and it has apparently been disproven, as Bodhidharma (the Indian monk who supposedly inspired/created the art), is dated at around 5th century CE. Kung Fu is thought to have existed way before that in China, even before Shaolin. The evidence shows it originated in China and claims otherwise are, apparently, incorrect
The TKD guy seemed to be the more skilled of the two as long as he stuck to forward movement and close fighting. He did really well from 2:16 to 2:25. He only ran into problems when he tried to back up or throw heavy kicks.
His opponent appeared to read this really well though, and baited him for the win. Tactics beat technique here.
there are different styles of Tae Kwon DO... there is a Chung Do Kwan style that is a bit of a descendency of Shotokan and Tae Kwon Do, so its more focused on combat and street fighting of Tae Kwon Do. There is competition style which is more for sparring and doing flashy stuff, though it still is valuable. But the Chung Do Kwan style combines learning the flashy stuff but also learns the destructive street fighting stuff that works on the street or in warfare
@tkdchamp02 Don't know where you get your information from but General Choi Hing Hi invented TKD and he was originally trianed in Shotokan so ALL TKD is descended from Shotokan. The two styles are ITF and WTF. ITF is the original that had Gen. Choi as the head and WTF a slight variation that was chosen for the Olympics for political reasons. TKD is a progressive MA that means it is constantly evolving to improve its techniques. It is a comprehensive self defence system.
Hey guys tkd itf is the one that is about distance, timing, control, combination legs and hands ... So don't say tkd sucks there is more them 1 kind of tkd ..
Is the Japanese guy Karate or Kickboxing? There's another video showing the same fight calling it Tae Kwon Do vs. Kickboxing. I know the Korean must be Tae Kwon Do.
@Marvtorrez i think he's correct, i'm not history expert but I remember reading that when japan dominated korea, they tried to make karate korea's new national martial art but koreans were afraid of losing their tradition so they made a new form of martial art copying many moves from karate except more kicking techniques... known as taekwondo
@ohAlanho, Is true that tae kwon do, have many "ingredients" of karatedo, Gen choi was a shotokan black belt, but its not a copy, and gen choi just was a chundokwan master not the creator, I have practiced both of them, and the filosofy, the way you, move and focus, is totally different, the history say many koran martial art masters visited china so, Ive seen more influence from china than japan, you can noticed that in the forms mainly, my point is respect the art, not try to denigrated.
@yamahanaya lol i can clearly see you dont have an idea of martial arts as well as the people who rated your vid.
every martial arts is good, but at the end it doesnt come don to the martial arts it comes down to the person doing it.
and as you said for the cop yhahahah that made me laugh. karate was established in south korea during the war.....it wasnt just someone who decided to copy karate. so shut the fuck up and dont write shit you dont know about
@yamahanaya Well, Taekwondo is alot Different then karate. Taekwondo doesn't use chops so much. Taekwondo doesnt punch so much, and Taekwondo is faster then Karate, well, im not saying that Taekwondo is better then Karate. But it's about the fighter, why dont you watch the other fight where TKD was owning Karate.
@aznqazwsx meh.. he isn't really a disgrace.. but was doing pretty well, but he has no endurance and true power. plus, he is going a against a great fighter Genki Sudo.
@rocklymr15 ummmm i take tkd and urr wayy offf buddyyyy. we learn hapkido and judo so get close to me and try and punch me i will break ur wrist and elbow faster then u can blink

It´s always about that.

@rocklymr15 Stop being so gay man. You just cant take that some Art not is better then others. It is all about the fighter. Have you ever don TKD? i do it. for 8 years. It is not only Distance. a trained TKD master can fight on short distance too. It is made for deffence. Next time you think somthing, try read about it before you go all mighty. And then try write Tae Kwon Do Next time. not Tae Kwan Do... It is all up to the person that do the martial art. Deal With It.
The guy who you think is doing Karate is actually Genki Sudo and he's a MMA/free style fighter. The guy that lost really was a TKD fighter so that part is true though.
this taekwondo fighter threw like 8 back hook kicks during this fight. that is very odd yet he still managed to outkick the MT fighter, and he lost to someone with superior punching skills.
also, I want to know how far this guy made it in taekwondo. my guess is not far. anyone know his name?
to me, it is not the art but how you train. if you were to train any style the same way muai thai trains, you would be very good at what you do. i.e. kyokushin trains hard and they can take a hit. their bodies are trained to take a beating. muai thai guys are the same. their bodies are trained to take a beating. if you take any style and train that way, you might see more martial art styles in the ufc and in the ring. the harder you train, the harder you are to beat.
