I disagree on the premise that Stalin was preparing for war on Germany and Europe in 1940. Had there been no Nazi Germany the USSR would likely have begun spreading into Eastern Europe and started a world war 2 regardless. Furthermore without a world war there wouldn't have likely ever been the need for the creation of a nuclear weapon, which likely would have prompted a general invasion and defeat in Eastern Europe.

There are a lot of interesting comments. But has no one realize that this happen about half a century ago? Nothing compare to history. Has no one realize: We still living in the dark ages? I've been interested in the second world war since I was a kid but recently started to look at it from different angles. History isn't as black and white as everyone depicts it. History is written by the victor and I believe most people here get their information and base their opinion on propaganda.

I disagree on the premise that Stalin was preparing for war on Germany and Europe in 1940. Had there been no Nazi Germany the USSR would likely have begun spreading into Eastern Europe and started a world war 2 regardless. Furthermore without a world war there wouldn't have likely ever been the need for the creation of a nuclear weapon, which likely would have prompted a general invasion and defeat in Eastern Europe.

At the end of the war which he started Germany was divided and the cold war started. Communism was eventually defeated because the Western democracies prevailed something Hitler was totally opposed to, you know that thing called democracy. All those Eastern European states fell under Stalin's control thanks mainly to the lunatic Hitler.
