  • Thanks a lot SAFER...with a normal wall it could have been fatal...

  • @saintsrule it was the car before The Car of Tommarow.

  • IF THAT WUZ THE OLD CAR HE WULD HAV DIED!1!!1

  • @Winston2003 It was the old car...

  • I guess Greg Biffle's not gonna get any Dominoes Pizza now. lol

  • David Reutimann has had a lot of horrible crashes. Texas in 04, this, and Watkins Glen. Its a wonder he's still alive really.

  • Ya think they switched the camera at first cause they thought he was hurt?

  • u walk home a little quicker when u smell what is cooking in the kitchen?

  • even with all of the wrecks since this, it is still scary to watch.

  • i wish they got this crash on video the camera turns when he gets loose. Atleast we get to see the on board better than nothing

  • Take a look at his truck crash with Bill Lester. Rheutty has used up 3 of his 9 lives.

  • now lets all watch his watkins glen crash

  • Look at todays crash my goodness

  • Damn that 00 has had some hard hits

  • Wonder what type of crash would happen if Clint Bowyer and Reutimann were to crash into each other?

  • I take it I won't be getting my pizza in 30 minutes or less. -_-

  • Biffle seems to do that a lot.

  • fuck all you idiots who hate NASCAR for getting rid of racing back to the flag! it is a miracle to the safety that those crews got there so quick! especially with the car still in the middle of the track with the cars coming! my gosh! and if you don't know what the fuck i'm talking about, go look up the Roger Wiliamson F1 Dutch Grand Prix crash! would you want that to happen again?! Jeez...

  • @LostHighwayFilms Roger Wiliamson died because there were not any safety crews in the first place. Even if they did race back to the flag, it would still only take crews some 30 seconds max to get to the car, which by that time either the driver crawled out or is already dead and there was nothing they could do. I respect your praise for safety, but drivers are now invincible to the point were safety crew reaction time means nothing.

  • 1:44-major spontaneous pizza combustion!

  • With HANS = non-fatal crash.

    Without HANS = fatal crash

God was looking out for you David.

  • @wes3tomcat How does god play into this at all? The HANS device is mandated by NASCAR, so NASCAR was looking for out David.

  • @nyyankfan Well you put God first in everything you do and anything else comes second.

  • roush don't like toyotas much

  • My pizza was cold...

  • i dont think im gettin my pizza in 30 minutes or less

  • I think he was unconscious there for a second, or two..in and out...not just having the wind knocked out of him

  • nice job, Biffle. I hate Roush.

  • One thing i can not stand is the spotters freak out when a fire breaks out in the engine compartment. Theres fire trucks all around the track, the safety crew has extinguishers and the driver has a fire resistant suit on. The safety crew will put it out long before it ever becomes a threat to the driver. The fire is the least of his worries.

  • @solaire66 it was his cousin...pretty scary to watch your coisin siting in a car on fire...

  • I don't want to sound sexist or whatever for this, but growing up, my Dad would say (with wrecks, but more particularly, hard hockey hits) "I think his tits touched".

  • they take 30 min pizza delivery VERY seriously....

  • The first 7 seconds of dialogue, that was a good line

"Darrell you always walk home a little quicker when you can smell what's cookin in the kitchen, and Harvick can smell that lead" I love FOX coverage

  • I remember when this happened. It scared me pretty bad. If it had not been for the SAFER barrier the outcome would have been much different. With all of their shortcomings of late, safety is one area where I think they have really stood up and stood up well. But it's almost a necessary evil because these younger drivers aren't as scared anymore as they should be and its making for some really stupid moves on the track.

  • So that's why my pizza was late.

  • @taranchula97 ha lol good one

  • I think he was knocked out....they flashed to the in car camera and saw he was out, and clicked away quickly

  • @CourtyardPigeon no, he was just catching his breath. he didnt know his car was on fire either. then you hear his spotter/cuz tell him its on fire then hes like"fine, ill get out" then sees the flames "Oh, Shit" and takes the wheel off. and did you see how smashed up the wheel was to his face? idk if it is supposed to be like that, i doubt it.

  • @CourtyardPigeon maybe you should watch the whole video

  • That Looked Like Michael McDowell's Crash At Texas In 2008!!!!!

  • was the SAFER barrier there?

  • 1:42 is the most sickening sound ive ever heard. glad he was ok

  • i bet his spotter/cousin almost had a heart attack....i wouldve have been scared as hell had that been my cousin in a wreck

  • 0:15 looked like he was dead----he was knocked out of breath.

  • do you think thats why they switched the camera so fast because maybe the camera director maybe also thought he was dead at first??

  • yes most likely.

  • yeah i'm sure they would not have wanted to show that unless they knew he was OK

  • @unacal76 more like the safer barrier. The hans device only prevents your head from jerking forward while the safer barrier actually absorbs the energy from the impact. WIthout the safer barrier, you'd feel that hit 10000x more.

  • Wow even though I watched the race and knew he was alive it was still scary watching sit there motionless for a few seconds.

  • If he spotter didn't tell him to get out he would been in the car much longer. The word "fire" really does catch someone's attention.

  • was the safer barrier up there

  • 1:55 that looked scary

  • yeah.

  • Camera angle fail.

  • California Speedway might be boring to watch, but damn people get in hard hits there.

The track is deceiving - it's nice, wide and smooth but can bite you hard if you lose focus.

  • the steerin wheels so close cuz they spend hours inside those car and if ur arms are fully streched out u lose blood flow..

  • why is the sterring wheel so close to him!?!?!?!?

  • he likes it like that, drivers can adjust it to they way they want it

  • good he was ok. wat a hit

  • no its set there based on driver comfort

  • that was very scary

  • i think at 0:16 they thought he was dead thats why they switched off of him so fast

  • on 0:16 he was unconscious

  • He wasn't. He was probably just out of breath.

  • not funny at all

  • never like to see my favorite driver struggle like that

  • man David and his spectacular crashes......

  • i was at that race im was rooting for denny hamlin #11

  • i cant imagine how bad that hurt. i race dirt track and have wrecked a few times not going near as fast as they do and i was sore for days lol

  • why is the only camera view of the wreck on board why couldnt there be a camera on him

  • because camera's arent focused on the back markers this late into a race.

  • it looks like the first time around they didn't want to show the in car cuz maybe he was seriously hurt. Thats nice of the nascar camera men and woman.

  • There was pretty little time to react. The reason why David went head-on was that he let off the throttle whe his was countersteering, causing his car to swing back to the countersteered position.

  • Comment removed

  • Of course you are. That seems to be who all under educated people are following. Way to go. LMFAO !!

  • ordering dominoes

  • nasty

  • so much for pizza

  • @unrealdellkat becuase he's a sponsor of pizza.

  • if anyone noticed that the first time they showed an in car view of david that it wasnt on for half a second before it switched to another camera. i think they thought he was messed up

  • yea , i think they waited till he moved before they wanted to show that view

  • i just remember seeing that and thinking about how fast the camera people reacted

  • about the only thing in common between the wrecks are they are both #00 and they both hit the wall head on.

  • Another odd point about this wreck and McDowell's, both of the wrecks happened in their second race of the season.

  • That crash is exactly similar to McDowell's qualifying crash. Ironicially it was the same team.

  • Yea you're right, I actually think McDowell's shocking crash Friday will be THE new hardest crash in Nascar history when the results are released soon. If only this safety equipment was around for Earnhardt.

  • earnhardts belts where loose. if they had been tight, we might still have the great one.. its sad, dammit i miss dale

  • i think the double 00 has bad luck at some tracks.

  • Earnhardt's belts were fine. The final report stated that a worker cut them to remove him from his car.

  • i heard his belts snapped when he hit the wall

  • Ugh retard Sr. wasnt wearing a hans devise they wern't manditory he hit the wall at suck an angle that most of the force still went through him his skull was seperated from his spine has his belts been loose his body would've gone forward abit and taken some of that force away from his head thus saving him

  • but reutimann didn't flip?

  • Well, he hit the wall the same way McDowell did.

  • Reutiman hit the wall more front drivers side. Mcdowell hit truely head on

  • ya, the fact that mcdowell wuz driving the COT helped him flip, the COT sucks

  • yea it does!

  • @huss171 How in which way?? He did not roll or anything.

  • @lakelandchief cuz the both hooked in the wall at the sames angle. Not every time you hit the wall like McDowell did makes it flip

  • @lakelandchief and that he almost did!!! He got on no wheels and was at at least a 45 degree angle

  • @huss171 dam yoytotas

  • @huss171 The only difference is that Michael tumbled. David stayed on his wheels.

  • damn! he went airborn

  • i was there

  • Man that was horrific when they cut to the in car and he was just hanging there...ugh

  • Gee if it weren't for the safety today, he would've been dead.

  • biffle nearly killed him

  • he must have been knocked woosey

  • is it just me or is california somewhat of a dangerous track? you have this wreck, and then you have Kesolowski's busch crash which looked pretty serious when i first saw it, glad he was ok there, then Ricky Rudds crash that injured his shoulder and he had to miss some races because of it, i think track developers should start reconsidering making super speedway tracks with minimal banking because the cars do not have any banking to bleed off speed before the impact with the wall

  • well that and michigan have the fastest top speeds - like 200+ mph - so i guess that comes with the burden of having bigger hits. but in this crashes case - he turned head on into the wall, aint no banking is gonna scrub off speed when u go in head on.

  • atlanta is another fast place too, i think the transition in the corner, the wall comes in way to fast at these places..it seems like the cars run out of room really quick. but michigan is a lot more open, more room to race

  • hardest hit ever recorded

  • that was really scary I was watching on live tv.

  • Geez, between David Reutimann's crash and Brad Kesolowski's crash they were basically the same type of incident ouch!

  • man that scared me when it showed him in the car for a split second. his head is all low

  • yeah it was scary on live tv.

  • If Dale was useing a full face helmet and a HANS I think he would be here today

  • Don't forget he S.A.F.E.R Barrier as well.

  • i think seeing that crash scared everyone good thing nascar put in all the safty epuipment or he would of been killed

  • wow what a hit. i dont want to be in that situation!!

  • man, what a year at california

  • They Said the G force was the Highest NASCAR ever recorded on the black box.

  • Are you serious?

  • that was a very hard hit we know him very well his spotter helps us in sprint cars that is how i know david it worried me when i seen it because i know him you should see the car after

  • My buddy that I race online with knows his dad Buzzie.

  • it looks like dominos was cooking in that kitchen.

  • pretty bad but ive seen worse

  • really hard, but not as hard as brads or ricky rudds

  • it was harder the rudds

  • rudd was knocked out

  • Reutimann's was the hardest G hit ever in NASCAR history!

  • but he walked away. ricky was knocked out and separated his shoulder. Keslowski was taken on a stretcher.

  • Ricky's an older guy though and in as good of shape as David or Brad.

  • DAvid id 37 years old. Brad is early twenties. brad needed a stretcher

  • The facts still remain though, Reutimann's is the hardest hit ever!

  • One of the hardest, not THE hardest.

  • Case-in-point, Rudd's win at Martinsville in 1998. It was ten year's ago, but he's still in that good of shape.

  • The impact the #00 car took was greater than that taken by the #3 car when Dale Earnhardt was killed.

  • yea but dale didnt have the HANS or full helmet one of the best things nascar has done is making then wear it

  • well a couple of years ago when the caution came out, they would race back to the line and it would have taken the safety crews 30 seconds or more to get to the scene. But now they don't and the response time is way faster.

  • in addition, he dropped his window net. that is a sign to the saftey crew that he is ok and they don't have to rush.

  • he was still out a little he dont remember droping the net
