  • my bad

  • Met karl in Virginia Beach in 2006...World Party played a place called The Jewish Mother...mostly acoustic but great!!! he hung around after the show and just the coolest...very short bit his singing is just as good live as iy is on the albums..

  • I think he says, TV Eye...it's a Stooges reference.

  • TVR's rock and so does this song!

  • Forgot all about how great this band was!

  • you can see the dylan influence in this music... kind of brave to be doing this in 1990 when shoegaze, dreampop, and hair metal were popular... several years after this, counting crows and wallflowers would achieve commercial success with this type of music.. i always though world party was an underrated band

  • @zwartepiet412 Definitely can hear the Dylan influence....but I guess influences are part of what musics about.I remember Summer of 1990 very well, great memory!

  • saw them live at Seabird Island (BC) gig with Midnight Oil and the Tragically Hip in about '94- fantastic - show me somethin true today....

  • @tranzl8tor Saw Midnight Oil live a few times back in the day and their live shows just blew me away, went out and bought "Scream In Blue" right after the 1st time!

  • Thank you for the upload. I can't find one of the tunes off this CD called, "Is It Too Late". Great song. Check it out.

    ;)

  • SHOW ME THE WAY TO THE TOP..... Please somebody...

  • Love this song!! This was back before everyone jumped on the bandwagon and started watching 120 minutes. There were like 2 dozen of us kids who liked this music in my high school in '90. By the fall of '92 when my senior yr started the trendy kids had ruined it. The Hot Topic kids of their day you could say (only it was Urban Outfitters lol)

  • Awesome album, "the most honest man I've ever seen" lol and still it's going on. Clouding up my images of a perfect day,

  • Awesome album, "the most honest man I've ever seen" lol and still it's going on

  • this gooooooood need more

  • Ahh, the fall of 1990. I was in my second year of college at County College of Morris. Just a great time right before the grunge era happened.

  • such positive messages in all his songs.........go Karl

  • Yes agree not heard World Party in ages, great song bring back many happy memories, love Karl Wallingers lyrics so true and meaningful .....

  • i agree haven't heard this in ages and too brings back so many memories, love Karl Wallinger, the words are brilliant and so true then and now! only have this on vinyl must get cd !

  • What a copy of the Stones.... however not bad.

  • @300buttafingas

And where would the Stones have been without the blues ?

  • ... won't you show me something true today . . . the clocks will all run backwards, all the sheep will have two heads, the thursday night and the friday will be on a tuesday night instead... and I know when I'm not alone . . . .

  • Thank You VH1 CLassic for showing me the greatness of this song, i feel like such a n00b

  • @JimNightshade831 You and me both, man.

  • I only had a few tapes in my car at the age of 17, this was one of them and I would play it over and over singing at the top of my lungs driving round suburbia during summer going from friends house to house in, what I now realise was, total carefree happiness!

  • One of the greatest songs ever.

  • Wow one of my favourate songs from when i was 16 ......great tune wo hooo ! thanks for posting

  • Wow, Havent heard this song in ages! Sittin here in the second huge snowstorm this weekl listening to music brings back memories...Cool!

  • Got into them at about 15, still love them now.

If Wallinger could dance he would be huge !

  • The whole album is cool. This album reminds me of a really cool period of my life.

  • damm cool song eeey.

  • thats by far the coolest album cover

  • He's practically quoting them at the end of the song...

    "Woo-woo, woo-woo, woo woo"

  • This album is brilliant and World Party aka Karl Wallinger i good at incorporating a musical style to make it his own. Here, Way Down Now is reminiscent of Sympathy For The Devil by the Rolling Stones.

  • good reply never thought of the link with the stones.nice one

  • @lyonslaforet Yep, this does sound like the 'stone's! They would be perfect to cover it! And vice-versa!

  • @1961slam - Does sound like the Stones...with McCartney, sitting in on the Hofner bass!

Hey, hey I'm a recording artist myself. This kinda song are my main influence.

Check it out and let me know what you think out there.
