Know this is all about the blues...by the way you can also check this local Montreal blues band, they sound very good : gypsy kate power trio, try to Google it..
@mrspenn1611 Hey Dude, I wish you could have seen him too. He was Fantastic live, and he would play 3 X 45-50 min sets. He and His band would wear me out dancing along. I got to meet and visit with him on several occasions and he was ALWAYS very nice and extremely friendly. He would take his time shaking your hand and ask you your name and where you were from. He took his time signing every auto graph friendly and courteously. By his mannerisms I would guess he was raised in the south.
@tejastiger61 Many thanks for your reply. Yes he was a fantastic entertainer and also took cameo roles in Films too. He stard in one of Elisabeth Shue's (spelling) films where she had to sing the blues before she left the stage. One of my faves is Got that feeling, All the best my friend, Steve
From an Old South boy--Black Cat Bone. Skin, gut and boil a black cat until the flesh falls away from the bones, then dry out the skeleton. Then you 'taste' each bone. The one that's bitter--that's the Black Cat Bone.
Yeah, she does know how to play some mean ol' blues. It's kinda sexy for a woman to be able to do so well in what is considered a predominantly male music genre. Way to go, Debbie.
I NEVER get drawn into comparisons on Youtube! But, she IS good. I think she features on the long live clip of Frosty, with Duke Robillard and AC. Very well worth a view.
That great sax man playing tenor and alto is no other than the great Chuck Williams the one man horn section from Richmond, VA now playing with Forrest & Kaylon McDonald and the blues train.
yeah reverb is personal but yeah your right, them guys use heaps, personaly though i was always taught by my father who is a great singer/ guitarist that reverb was over the top i guess its just personal like the tone, i can never decide i like to mix it up, kinda use different e q on different songsand clean/dirty or fithy, just how you feel at the time i guess
Collins is one the most underrated of blues performers. What a genius! As for Debbie Davis, she is anything but a "generic hot little blues bitch." Check out some of her youtube vids. She is an extraordinary artist. People like SvenTwelve ought to get some facts before they bother us with offensive comments.
yes. yes. thanks pleasefeel free to check my blues guitar leads at oxharp channel or my face book = jib/nathan im also on my space the band is called the cadilacs it a bit cranky but i like to think im quite good sometimes if i can say that! i only say cause people tell me though im carefull not to believe my own hype! ha ha peace bro
ooohh funkay! id happily marry the girl somethings drenched in reverb though is it a hamond! sound like albert using it too just a personal thing i dont like reverb but fuck me this the shit! blues power for life! its crazy too think some people cant 'get' or feel stuff like this, i feel sorry for them! it gives me what i call a spiritual epithany or a mind orgasm
Hmm i sometimes feel ashamed using too much reverb, like its covering up my mistakes or somethin. But listen to Albert or even Peter Green, it doesn't detract from their soul
It's Debbie Davies and she's about as generic as Bonnie Raitt. This video is years old but I just saw Debbie Davies rockin the boat 2 weeks ago on the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise. One of the best blues guitarist on the planet.
Albert was always good value with his playing, band behind him is fabulously tight, and how come no-one has mentioned the sax player playing TWO saxes at the same time!
Oh yeah- that's Buddy Guy alright! Hey this gig was outta sight with the horns and all and that chick can play real good too! Woulda had fun at that show!
I have to give Albert props - the shoulder strap and high capo (sometimes at fret 7, sometimes at fret 9) would drive me crazy.
See Albert bending strings at one fret above his capo, strings physically harder to bend a full step than they would be down at the nut. He must have had incredibly strong index finger.
Coco Montoya says he was with Albert when he passed away. Albert said "I've got nothin' but love."
Albert Collins was a huge influence on Jimi Hnedrix. Just listen to Jimi's "Drivin' South" which was a nod to Collins. Back in the early 50s, when Albert was with Big Walter Price, he had a sound very similar to Hendrix.( He got a wah-wah sound from turning his tone control)..something that guys like Roy Buchanan used . Collin's was such a nice guy..always humourous, helpful and with not a shred of hatred in him. Debbie plays wonderfully on here. She's great!
I just heard aboutt his guy, was lookin for some music similar of the one from BB King and Eric Clapton, buddy guy and on searchin the site the results came up on this guy, and hell i dont regret it.Great
YES, AC is fantastic! If your looking for more similar check out Freddie King, I've got three great videos of him on my favs list. Freddie is awesome as well!
where in the fuck were the DJs and major record album executives when it came to this man ? , music is no different than " art " its all ass lickin' and politics
THAT was a religious experience. It gave me chills. Every part of it was perfect. Thank you. I'd never heard of this guy, and I'm wondering why he isn't more famous than BB King.
Just listening to the drummer, it sounds a lot like Buddy Miles heavy style of drumming. Great groove. I wonder if Buddy Miles ever played with Albert Collins.
I saw Albert at Toads Place in New Haven many times. He always went through the crowd with his 200 foot guitar cord over our heads. Once I did follow him out onto York Street still playin of course. The opening act LONNIE MACK was leaving to get on his tour bus. Albert took off his guitar and Lonnie was now playing! The crowd inside had no idea. I will never forget the great Albert Collins!
