No, it isn't. The SNES game called Final Fantasy 3 in the USA was actually Final Fantasy 6 in Japan. Also, FF2 in the USA was FF4 in Japan.

Actually, your accent really isn't a problem at all. I could just imagine if I were with Cecil right now and he would be complaining about the lack of hamburgers. I would probably say "Really, the hamburgers are the issue? Not the monsters wielding the daggers ready to turn us into hamburgers!?" Anyway, I just started FF3 on the DS. This is a great walkthrough so far. Very specific on key things in the dungeon.
