  • i know what it is i've gone to it lol....but it is true the hitters are good just got beat

  • this video is awesome!

  • LOOK UP PERRINE BASEBALL ADRIEN#24

  • if only he was still this good...

  • lol he doesn't throw like this anymore

  • that first strike o0ut wasnt vean close

  • OMG nastyiest 2 seam ever, but gotta admit those hitters were dust

  • it was the PG USA National showcase where every player is considered a pro prospect. those hitters were legit, he was just throwing 96 mph gas with movement, add in a nice slider.

  • What happened to that pitcher? He is a far shadow of that now...

  • @TheHaloRed

yea. he was better in high school haha . probly cuz they messed with his windup

  • i like his mechanics as a highschool pitcher then now

  • he hit 98 often early in his career with the rays.

you didn't watch, and wouldn't know.

  • fucking DIRTY

  • i heard he was throwin 90+ anyone else know how hard he was throwing?

  • 96 at this showcase

  • i remember hearing right before he was drafted that he hit 100mph a few times in high school

  • @ELDoro hmmm... there is no way he could be hitting 100 by that times....plus he has never hit 100 in a major league game...In the majors he throws low-to-mid 90's (90-95)

  • @topstarterRHP he was hitting 100 in a high school showcase. Keep in mind thats not pitching but just letting it fly.

  • That was sick ass tail

  • Why did they sign Burrell? He hasen't performed the 20-30 HR production he does. I bet this is why they got rid of Kazmir.

  • inverted LLLLLLLL

  • i am really curious as to how hard he was throwin..im guessin 86 -89 maybe?

  • @sparknotez33 he was throwing 94-97 at this showcase.

  • Dont think he throws like that anymore

  • how fast was he throwing during this video?

    80-85?

  • he got timed at 96 when this video was made

  • 1.38

  • Mets got ripped off so bad in the trade

Scott Kazmir, Jorge Cantu and 2 prospects (1 is bull shit the other one is Johnny gomes)

    for

    victor Zambrano

  • dude Cantu and Gomes were drafted by the rays

  • Dummy, Kazmir was traded with Jose Diaz to the Devil Rays for Bartolome Fortunato and Victor Zambrano.

  • i dont think that was a 2 seamer i think it was a running 4 seamer

  • wow the 2 seam fastball at 2:10 was nasty.

  • 2:10 - 2:13 OMGG

  • sweet music XD

  • I dont know about you guys but... whats up with all the slow mo ?

  • skillshow is a company that works with perfectgame which is a showcasing company. This video is originally made to show to scouts and college coaches and the slowmo give the scout or coach and easier time looking at his mechanics. Skillshow will take very good mlb players who have been to perfect game showcases and show what they were like in highschool

  • most of the balls he threw are actually balls.

  • lol id love to try to hit on a major league pitcher. I wonder how hard it is.

  • its a mindset, im a freshmen and i believe i can hit anyone, so far at my level i can, but my problem is i swing at anything.

  • Definitely not a mindset buddy. I guess you could say that I thought that, then I saw a guy throw mid 90s. Struck my ass out. I bet the money in my pocket I'm better than you, too.

  • he has the best pitches in the game cuz hes always leading in Ks

  • not atm, greinkie from the royals is the al leader, before this nobody heard of him, he has good stuff and he has a decent team now so we will hear about him.

  • I heard about Greinke before... and knew that he was good.

  • ya man im a lefty 2..my 4seam fastball tails about 3 inches everytime..lol

  • its called bein a LEFTY!

im a lefty my shit does the exact same thing lol

  • nice two seams

  • HOLY SHIT!! that last pitch was fucking nastyyyyyyyy how did he do thatt, im a fastball tail pitcher myself, and it never does that lol

    gross

  • that was sick almost looked as if he were throwing a wiffle ball

  • look at that movement on that last pitch. DIRTY.

  • I'm surprised at how little command he had though. Not to take away from him or anything.

  • I am a yankees fan but Kazmir has been one of my favorite pitchers.

  • he is awesome!!!

  • you know he threw 96 mph at this showcase

  • I hate his follow-through in this video. It seems okay until that little whip-back recoil he does after going through his normal arm path. I could stand to see him a little more smooth as well instead of being violent and herky-jerky.

  • you must be one of the fucking retard pitching coaches who has RUINED him. RUINED.

  • Look, it's fine if you have tremendous stuff, but if you can't stay healthy over 100+ pitches a game for 200+ innings a season then obviously you shouldn't do it. High school you pitch once a week, so you can rear back and fire with everything you've got but to be a durable major league pitcher you have to use your mechanics efficiently. Would you rather he be injured all the time like Mark Prior or Rich Harden?

  • he looks so much better in this video than he does in the 2008 season.

    WHAT HAPPENED!?!?!?!?!?!

His velocity is down from 93-97 to 88-93. His cutter is GONE. His 4 seam is completely straight, and his slider no longer leaves a mouth gaping.

    WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED KAZ?!?!?!?

    =(

  • chill

  • all i know is his velocity decrease is on purpose. He takes a little off to control his pitches instead of just striking everybody out.

  • A little off his velocity, a messed up leg kick, only to.... throw more balls than he did 2 years ago.

    yeah. ok.

  • just quoting what he says

  • 4 seamer is supposed to be straight

  • straight? You definitely want movement on your fastball.

  • If it's a two seemer or a cut fastball yeah.

  • even so. we see MLB pitchers botch throws to firstbase all the time because they don't throw straight ever. especially in the majors where players can feed off gas with no movement.

In high school, they tell position players to throw 4 seamers to ensure straight outs. Pitchers still want a little movement on their 4 seam fastballs.

  • lmao, id like to see your 4 seam fastball cut as much as a 2 seam, its just unrealistic being a lefty or a righty.

  • ooh scott why'd we have to let u go....

  • is that joe mauer behind the plate?

  • If this video is from '02 like it says then it can't be... Mauer was the 1st overall pick in 2001

  • kazmir was drafted 15th overall by the mets in 02

  • if we kept kazmir, santana wouldnt be on the team right now. still a bad trade but the kazmir-santana combo is an unrealistic dream

  • His two-seam is nasty!!!

  • karate ump lol

  • this video is filthy.he does everything but get a flat back when hes done pitching. but cmon how did the mets trade this away for victor zambrano and some other no name player.what were they thinking?

  • It was one of the worst trades in baseball history. The mets passed on so many other trades that would have made sense earlier in the season.

A ton of teams passed on him in the draft also over some contract issues. He was actually the second player from his highschool team to be drafted that year.

  • What happened was the Mets pitching coach saw video, not Kazmir in live action, of Kazmir and decided that he would eventually shred either his elbow or shoulder to shreds. Couldn't have been much further from the truth.

  • Just imagine Santana and Kazmir pitching on the same team... now that's a filthy rotatin right there.

  • pedro, kazmir, santana in their prime lol

  • So explain how someone gets that much movement on a fastball at 1:40.

    Is it a 2 seam?

    Cutter?

it just rises like 9 inches..

  • mad lefty skills. but seriously, lefty's hands tend to slip off the ball, giving it some run and he prolly understood and took advantage of that.

  • wow where'd you hear that?

  • life, my friend. i am a lefty, and even if i throw straight up 4-seam fastball, it moves cuts out and back in.

  • so because lefties have more movement, the physics of throwing a ball must be different for them as opposed to righties? You're telling me lefties just know how to make their hands slip off the ball and righties don't?

I'm not buying that explanation, though I agree lefties generally seem to get more movement. I'm a lefty myself.

  • it's because of the stereotypes of baseball and how our brains work. righties are straight up and down, concrete thinkers and proceed to read straight from the book and everything is just like roger clemens, which is what they teach the little kids. as for lefties, we are more abstract and tend to put our own spin on things literally and metaphorically. and plus everyone recognizes our movement. like the UVA pitching coach called me a "different creature" because my four seamer moved so much..

  • that curveball at :53 is beautiful

  • 1:54 that shyt is nasty!

  • that 2semer is killim em.

  • zomg that fastball has some sick ass tail...

  • 1:38 freak nasty

  • 2:03...sick pitch

  • 00:53--Come on blue, that pitch is at least 6 inches off the plate. Kazmir's tough enough when he's on the plate.

  • listen he throws it fast but if you wanna see a heat fastball type dellin betances then go to richardhernandez profile then click on his pitching video then you judge if thats fast

  • looks like some gas 2 me!!!!!!!

  • wow its not scott kazmirs profile idiot

  • Any chance in getting the actual file? I'd like to use this side by side with my son on a video playback.

  • You can call Skillshow about that. 206-652-1288.

  • daaaaaaaaammmmmmnnnnnnnn

  • haha he was so young!

  • His slider is even better

  • he does a a wicked 2 seamer! glad to c a child hood friend of mine doin so good in the majors

  • haha yea ok bud. LMAO

  • what is so shocking about scott kazmir is he's kinda small to be throwing 97-98

  • What a nasty 2 seamer.

  • what is he throwing on 1:55 to make the ball dance like that?

  • a 2-seam fastball

  • you sure? that thing is wicked

  • Pretty Sure. It looks like the cather set up in, so im thinking he was trying to jam him with a fastball runnning in on his hands. But your right, that pitch was nasty.

  • feel sorry for the mets:)

  • nope its there fault

  • how the hell did this get here?

  • yea i know it sux having johan santana!!!!!!!LMAO!!!

  • Theyre gonna pick up another great player in this years draft. d price would fit in nicely at t bay

  • you canread his pitches from a mile away, when he throws a fastball his hand goes straight from hanging into the glove to throwing, you can read his offspeed pitch easily too jusgt by seeng how long his hand stays in his glove

  • Looks like Kaz was destined to be a Ray. That video was taken in Tropicana Field. Very cool and Go Rays!

  • PG Jerry, that is some fantastic footage! He was very dominating the following year and I had tyhe chance to see him several times in SAL LEAGUE. He has great arm strength, command and pitchability. Hope he does well this year for TB Rays. peace shep

  • hah, and I'm a D-Rays fan! Thank god we got him, we need a good starter

  • as a mets fan i almost had a heart attack when we traded him!! NY still luvs Kazmir!! Come back Kaz!!

  • This video is awesome!
