this happened at my mother's house about three years ago when a lightning struck a powerlne in the neighborhood causing the transformer to buzz real loud and spark just like this. the lightning also knocked out the powerline just one street behind.

it looks to me , in the first part it hits power lines and then travels to both transformers. If you look closely there are wires running from the pole behind the trees. Thats what it looks like to me anyways. Kick ass vid .

Whoah!! Saw that happen last year here in Texas. Was trying to take piccys of lightning, camera had a time delay, missed the flash and resultant transformer explosion, got a bit of the smoke rising from the transformer. If I had gotten that, it would have been the shot of the YEAR! LOL 5/5 stars and add to "Lightning Striking Again" playlist; thanks! =]

I agree -- that would've been the shot of the year -- but you still got the aftermath smoke which is cool. That something that you'll never forget -- that instance when the lightning struck. Thanks for the comment !!

When that bolt struck? Fireworks - blue, purple, green, this terrible sound - seemed like my body wanted to leap out at it - instant heat galvanized my body - wow. No, doubt I'll ever forget that one. LOL And you're welcome for the comment. =] Incredible capture!

That pretty much happened to us about 20 yrs ago. We were not too far from the pole coming back from East Texas when we saw a flash and it hit. Also I think it was raining very hard and some people stalled ahead of us.
