@evidentlyavid eh it all depends on your stand, cant just b mad at slash, he was more or less axl's bitch by the end of this tour. had u been in that situation where ur lead singer owns the bands name and u guys r forced to sign shit making u less, ud hafta quit too lol, THO I STILL FUCKING LOVE OLD GNR =) new gnr, is ok but NOT AS GOOD AS THIS =D
@RoadToDawn15, this story about slash and duff "being forced" to sign the GNR name to Axl is totally false but unfortunately it has been repeated so often, many people believe it.
the contract through which Axl got ownership of the GNR name was signed in 1992 and as SLASH HIMSELF admits in his Autobiography, it was put in Escrow till 1995.
so 3 years of negotiations happened between Axl, Slash and Duff's lawyers to finalize this deal- Slash refers to this as "haggling" in his book.
@evidentlyavid i read the bok too, wrong signing lol. i meant the one that said somethin like if those 2 quit axl culd make a new gnr or somethin like that
@RoadToDawn15, it was all a negotiated settlement with Slash & Duff's consent (they were the only partners in the GNR name by 1992 since izzy left in 91).
no forced contract can hold up in court. if Axl had forced them, his ownership would have been removed by the courts.yet a decade of litigation later, Axl continues to own the GNR name as there was no forcing, it was all mutually decided.
as for slash being Axl's slave, Slash's own best friend Marc Canter has said that slash got big-headed.
@RoadToDawn15, slash has been in 3 bands and each time he has fueded with his frontman and then blamed them for everything in the media (Axl in GNR, rod jackson in Slash's Snakepit and Scott Weiland in Velvet Revolver).
infact Scott called slash a "frontman hater".
is it fair for fans to always assume that its always the frontman's fault and never slash's in any measure?
@evidentlyavid well thing is... uve read the book... for 1.) most of it was axl's fualt (coming on stage late for no reason) nd a bunch of other stuff, axl tho a great singer, had lots of things going on, and u even have to admit. he was sorta a baby.. refusing to complete uyi albums till niven was fired, then doug goldstein who was up axl's ass and basically gave what he wanted, stuff like that imo led to gnr's end, as for vR, scott weiland had his share of issues as well
nd scott weiland... imo he wasnt rly the kinda sound vr needed, i mean theres a couple of songs he fit into perfectly, but more or less vr didnt have the attitude of Gnr or STP anyhows, but i rly dont know much bout scott besides the drugs, =/
@RoadToDawn15, do you know that Matt also ended up in rehab during VR. Slash had a horrible relapse on OxyContin in 2007 which almost ended in his divorce.
he has admitted locking himself into hotel room and doing nothing but drugs for a month. he admits that his situation became so bad that he became the black sheep of the band.
yet slash was not removed from VR. but when scott relapsed, he was thrown out and publicly attacked by his band-members in the media. obvious double-standards.
@evidentlyavid well, technically he started that band, and any1 wulda been a hypocrite to tell slash otherwise *scott, matt, duff* *im not too sure bout dave,k* , but he dealed with it himself, like no1 told him GET UR ASS IN REHAB OR WERE LEAVINg, but i guess ur right, i can understand why ud say what u said,
@RoadToDawn15, youre talking about VR, right? so since slash started VR, it would be hypocritical for anybody to attempt to fire him from VR?
so what would you say to slash who admits that there were 6 attempts to fire Axl from GNR- unlike slash, Axl IS an original member of GNR. the first line-up was Axl, Izzy, Rob Gardner, Ole Beich & Traci Guns. that was a cmplete line-up unlike VR which was never complete without a singer/lyricist - ie without scott.
@RoadToDawn15, i agree. slash did get himself clean eventually and he deserves credit for that.
but scott also kept clean for the first few years in VR. when he skipped, the hammer came down hard on him. but he has gone onto tour with Stone Temple Pilots and release a solo album too so that removes any doubts about his ability to function and be productive.
@evidentlyavid oh i didnt say he lacked talent xD i like his voice, it rly did complement the rest of the band and pulled them in a direction that i agreed with, nd bout gnrs orig lineup, ur completely right, however it didnt get anywhere until slash and steven came along, i say gnrs orig lineup was when steven and slash came in, and made it special. tho ur also right bout vr, bottom line is i support vr, gnr, and stp in anyway. all great bands, sad breakups, but theyll all b fine i time xD
@RoadToDawn15, Axl was already the most sought after singer on LA scene according to slash when they first met. Axl & Izzy did a lot of great song-writing together.that team was together even in the 1st GNR line-up so it was only a matter of time till they got a following. after all, it took GNR almost 3 years from 1985 onwards with the slash/steven line-up to break big. these things take time.
i agree with your positive attitude. :) these are all excellent musicians & i support GNR, VR too. :)
@RoadToDawn15, uve already declared that it was mostly Axl's fault, so ure obviously unwilling to look at all angles of the issue.
if Axl was late, what about slash/ duff being crazy drugged/drunk 24/7? how come nobody wants to talk about slash's personal issues? he had multiple ODs within a few years- how do you think that affects a band's internal dynamics?
as for Alan Niven, he assured the band of his full support if they fired Axl. who wants to work with a manager who wants them fired?
@RoadToDawn15, GNR never ended- members left & new ones joined in their place.
scott's "issues" were well known to everybody when VR was chasing him. he walked straight out of rehab to do Fall to Pieces. all was accepted till Libertad failed to sell. then the guns turned on scott.
if he didnt have the sound VR needed then why was slash telling the world that VR's chemistry was better than Appetite for Destruction? this of course was before Libertad was released- he changed his tune later.
axl leave the band with the name and all the rights
they ve made a fuckin contract or sth like that and in this shit says that axl can leave the band with the name and all the rights for the "company2 g n r !!!!!!
