Actually they did not use a green screen for this. It was a process called "ZOPTICS". They used the same thing on the original Superman film which uses front projection.
Gud gawd!!! I remember watching this w/ my Mom one Saturday afternoon! At the time (I woulda been 10, I guess) I thought it was cool! My Mom didn't want to hurt my feelings, so she agreed w/ me!
I love this movie. I picked up all of the die cast metal toy tie-ins as a kid. This scene is edited though. their is a fairly longer version of it where Hunter does a 360 while flying towards the cargo plane.
man when I was a kid, I thought this was the coolest movie. WOW what horrible shit this really was LMAO! The look of the tanker guy at the end sums it up perfectly.
When I was a kid I wanted to see this so bad but my parents wouldn't take me. Now I can see why. I'll still give it five stars for the early 80's cheese though.
On top of all its other sins, that has to be some of the slowest direction I've ever seen. Two minutes and twenty-five seconds? For THAT? I'm 51 years old -- hardly part of the ADHD Generation -- but I was going, "Come on, come on, snap it up!" If the director wanted to make it exciting, the whole sequence should've lasted less than five seconds. I guess he had to pad out the running time of the movie.
Classic 80's movie!! lol When he presses the second button, around 36s, there's a close up of the back. You can clearly see the wheel is not turning lol. Good Stuff! lol
I remember my mom taking me to see this movie back in the 80s .All my friends saw it too and would go around riding our bikes popping wheelies pretending we where shooting rockets ! classic move !
HOLY CRAP, I've SEEN this movie before! About ten or so years ago, when I was still a kid, and this came on during the summer around 3 at night. The entire FILM is awful in a manner that you HAVE to watch it. After this, my favorite scene is when they initiate their "stealth mode" on the vehicles... which essentially was the sound of the vehicles being editted out of the film. Such delightful awfulness.
BWHAHAHAHAHA.......Henry Silva (the guy in the tank, with "the look") is so cool! This bit reminds me of his appearance in "Amazon Women on the Moon!" "Was Jack the Ripper the Lock Ness Monster? Did I take this job for a quick buck?" In the case of this movie, definitely the quick buck!
last time i saw this film i was i think 9 or 10 and even at that age i was still sharp enough to see this movie was so bad it was enjoyable. it was then i think i had my first experience of what campy was all about. the special effects is kinda retro.
That was the best episode of Chips ever!!! Wasn't that the episode were Ponch got shot? It has to be cause they had Barry Bostwick playing John that week and they had used the costums from Buck Rogers that week......
bag on it all you want! this flick had alot going for it in terms of effects and the budget they had was HUGE! the director bit off more than he could chew, and goldwin/meyer didn't know until after the movie was canned that they went over budget and floated the movie. but all of mega forces bikes, jeeps and tac-com are real working vehicles and only 4 remain to this day
indeed the best US movie, which tells a lot about the others movies.
