Any powerloss, or low end toruqe loss after no muffler's? I have an 08 silverado with dual 6inch stacks with internal mufflers on it.. It is the 5.3 model, and people told me I would lose low end power with no muffler. I put em on, and seems to run evern better than before, plus it runs better on hills too.. Plus I have a cold air intake on it too.. Can you answer this question please on the low end power. Check out my vid. I have one of mine idleing. Thanks!
actually, it is running even better than with the stock muffler on.. I have dual 6inch wide aussie cut stack's, with the internal baffler's/mufflers and it is running even better. It is breatheing better from the cold air intake& exhaleing the exhaust better with the stacks,, No change on the gas mileage, but a big improvement with the stacks.
I found that when I change the oil in my 92 Toyota Corolla wagon that if i make sure there is 3/4" deflection on that there belt than i get about 12% gains on MPG. I usually add about four teaspoons of 80/90 to my engine oil and my emissions will decrease and i've noticed that if i wear a light hoodie that my car's weight can compare to that of Nascar. I've stayed up numerous nights calculating how much distilled water i should use in the engine oil,(somewhere between 1-2 gallons i think)Im fast
stock engine... its got an air intake, headers, full exhaust, hypertech programmer, granetelli mass air flow sensor, 160 thermostat. complete bolt ons
Depends.. is the tranny and motor all original? I would say orignal tranny and motor.. not a good idea... but depends on how much of a lift and tires also.
The transmission is original but well maintained and the motor is mostly rebuilt. As for the size its a 6in with 35s. The motor is a vortec 350 in a 97 Silverado.
yeah.. its a chevy.. it can handle it...lol. On a serious note..im a GM technician, and i see trucks with tons of miles come in with lifts, and most of them are in great shape.. as long as maintance is done regualary. The weakest link on those trucks are the CV's... so check those and make sure they are in good shape.. if you go offroad.
they are 38x15.5x20 mickey t's, it has 4.88 gears in the rear... its not too bad.. i have a programmer in it... i mean.. its not fast by any means...lol.
Whats your setup?

yahh that's because of back pressure a stacks on a half ton aren't a good idea at all..so since he i think 3.5 inch tips it's prolly not noticable.

Is it a bad idea to lift a high milage truck. Were talkin around 160,000. Also your truck is badass.

Depends.. is the tranny and motor all original? I would say orignal tranny and motor.. not a good idea... but depends on how much of a lift and tires also.
alljackedup408 4 years ago
Yes it is. But the motor has basically been rebuilt. Its a 6in with 35s.
foolsonparade 4 years ago
as long as the transmission isnt in bad shape.. id say go for it... my buddy lifted his 150,000 mile silverado.. its got 190,000 now.. so.. do it!
alljackedup408 4 years ago
Happy to hear that. I ordered the lift and tires 3 days ago.
foolsonparade 4 years ago
yeah i have a 6 inch lift with 35's on my 96 chevy and its got 205,000 miles on it, it does just fine
