I'm 23 and the hobby I've loved as far back as I can remember is being choked to death. While I was working on my stereo, most kids in High school were having kids, doing meth and driving drunk. But to show that I understand your pain I had an idea. If you speed through a red light that has a camera, it takes a picture of your license plate. And then a ticket is mailed to the owner. We'll put a camera on your street with a sound meter. If the meter is triggered the camera takes a photo of the license plate etc. I think that would work out. Petition the local goverment to alot for one camera, and if the problem is as bad as you say, the ticket's fines will pay for future cameras.

Good point, Michael. Trouble is, these boomheads pay big moneyto landlords and retailers. When residents complain, the landlord loses money when they have to evict, or a retailer loses money when they can't make a sale. Since businesses and individuals won't take responsibility, ordinances that target the loud stereos and proactive enforcement of those laws are necessary.

Many municipalities around the USA have noise control ordinances which prohibit booming auto stereos. The problem is that enforcement is usually pretty weak. What law enforcement needs to recognize is that there is a high prevalence of other kinds of crime within the boomhead population. See the threatening post from "kickerkills" and my reply. Of course, the ordinances need to be improved. Landlords should be required by law to tell tenants to obey noise control ordinances or be evicted.

What gets to me is when people, who don't even live in my neighborhood park, leave their car on with stereo going full blast, and visit their friends for 20 or 30 minutes at a time, and this can range anywhere from 2:00 am to 10:00 am.
