  • I vote yes on this phase of Larry Young's amazing career as well as 'Electric Lady Land', 'Bitches Brew', 'Newark'. I really like this guy.

  • 伝統、革新、酸いも甘いも知り尽くした、スーパーオルガニストの70年代中期の、猛烈ファンキーサウンド、ギターはコリエルか? 当時手に入らず・・! #jazzm

  • ....I was there as a young man, co-producing this album and "Fuel"...Larry was a wonderful gentle giant of a man...who was badly served by management and his label... the sessions were a mess of jamming and confusion...quite an eye-opener for a young man working with a legend.... I could not believe what I was seeing, hearing, and what was dropped in my lap to make sense of.... RIP Larry..

  • Larry Young is as influential a musical genius with the Hammond B3, as the great Milt Buckner! Thankfully their music will live on for us to enjoy...

  • my old friend Danny Toan on guitar here..Danny doesn't really stretch or peak out here, and is way back is the mix....but burned the walls down live w Larry as well as with John Lee and Gerry Brown. Larry is a desert island favorite.

  • Larry Young is a "BEAST"!

  • This is the shit

  • recently got the Love Cry Want recordings on vinyl. Totally insane (and brilliant) It's before he started to this more large scale audience focused fusion which wasn't his thing...you can hear it (still has it's moments). The Love Cry Want sessions weren't released in 1972 because it was too much ahead of it's time. even now it's pretty weird...check it out!

  • If you would like his Jazziest album you must buy 'Unity'.

  • I remember having this album and being disappointed in it, but Larry's style is there. One of the truly great, unique players. It took decades for someone to emulate him.

  • no(and what i really mean to say is yes) ...there's some really great stuff from all phases of larry young's career, there's more than few great tracks from this era,he always plays the real stuff, this is actually a classic record in my view, dig a little bit deeper into the realness-peace

  • larry young

    absolute legend!

his album Unity was an absolute killer!

  • love this.

  • I also think this isn't the best Larry's done in his short life. But I can recommend to al his 'Lawrence of Newark' album. If you are into Lifetime or Miles (69 - 75). It realy goes beyond everything. Check it out!

  • Lawrence Of Newark is great..

  • Grant Green's "Talkin' About" that came out in 1964,with Larry Young and Elvin Jones is one of my favorites.

  • Unity was the best small group jazz record of the 60's. If it's only "good", I'd like to know where the great ones are! Is there any concert footage of Larry Young? Someone should post some. I'm not crazy about this cheesy CTI-style tune.

  • Larry Young's "Unity" is completely boss! Woody Shaw, Joe Henderson, Elvin Jones, with completely killer originals like Zoltan and Moontrane.

I don't know what to think about this song though...

  • Unity was also a good album. It featured the tune Zoltan which got some radio airplay on mainstream jazz stations.

  • Thanks for posting this. Nice to see/hear ANYTHING by the late great Larry Young. Personally I thought that this phase of Larry's career was inexcusably bad and without redeeming qualities. But I guess the hip-hop underground has embraced this song. If yiu want to hear Larry as his best check hum out on 'Emergency' by Tony Williams.
