  • Dont feel bad... I did the same thing to my redtop throwing the car from the top of 3rd into 2nd gear and raped my motor.... Thankfully I found a long block from JDM of Miami for 800 and slaped it on with all the bolt ons from the fuked motor

  • dont worry, your bearing are in a better place now, with my ka rods...

  • dude.. im so sry for your loss.. but your bearings are no longer with us... as they crank walk though the vally of the shadow of metal shavings, they feel the light that is not the crank case no more.. behold the power of love that is the scrap yard for the love is with you now.. Your days of beating mustangs are over my firends.. For now ACL bearing will take your place in the love of corvette killing... rebuild her and do it right, not the cheap way out....

  • bottom endd gone

  • i had the same problem in my 1991 SE R .. and the problem were the bearings

  • I know, three years late. Anytime you have to rev it to hear the noise 9 times out of ten it's a rod.

  • @KScharba

do you have a ratio for not rev?

mine blew out but it knocked on idling steadily and stayed the same when reving.

stil to this day have no clue what is knocking and dont even want to inspect it till i have 3k stashed.

    i fear the depression,

    its dead engine denial really.

  • i know whats wrong with it and i'll tell you, ......its fucked

  • big end bearings are gone 100% no doubt, ive seen it happen a hundred times

  • rod knock! get another sr20

  • unlucky

  • Holy rod knock batman!!

  • thats a rodknock if ive ever heard one. listen to my supra and then tell me what you think i posted it in the video response. i cant belive no one else called that

  • @DirtridinElCamino You're right. It's definitely a rod knock. That rod is screaming to get off that crank. The bearings are bad. I just had this same issue on my SR and it's in the shop as I type. I had to make the decision of buying another engine or just rebuilding and rebuilding the bottom end is the most cost effective since a new used engine will have the same problem after a while. Good call on that.

  • hahahahaha,to funny

  • its probably the gaurd for the timing chain... they all sound like marbles in a tin can. if u take the valve cover off and remove it ( its uneeded ) it will more than likely stop. if not then sumthing is f*cked

  • its your flu flu valve man, trying using a right hand screw driver and tighten it up

  • anyone know how much are sr20det's?

  • 1200 with on ebay

  • why would you ever buy a motor off ebay ...if you have a 240sx there are clubs everywhere owners clubs ...join one and the guys on there will tell you your best local dealer ...chances are 85% of the club has an sr20 thats why i dont like them

  • Bad rocker arms or lifters.

  • Head issue... Open the oilcap, when engine is running. Look at the shaft.

Is the sound following the shaft spin?

    Bad rocker arms, or lifters...

Can be a worned out cam along with that.

  • yah actuall reading the description hoover is right u need to tighten the chain man

  • yea dude jdm motors are never that great. That motor is fucked. Time for the rb25det sir.

  • you are yet again dumb as fuck. the motor its chain driven not belt driven. its the chain hitting a guide. tension the chain thats it. rb25 way too expensive sr less expensive. rb25 heavy as fuck sr light as hell. rb expensive to build. sr cheap as fuck. keep the sr. tension the chain. your all good bro. and the rb25det is still a jdm motor ya tool

  • um... fuck you dude we're talkin about the jdm supplier? rb25 isn't that big of a weight difference.... sure its expensive but you get what you pay for... rb25 is like an extra 115 pounds which dont make much a diff in a 3000 pound car... so stop acting so tough on your keyboard... and that sounds nothing like a chain knock dip shit... way to hard... if it was that loose id be surprised to see it running.

  • lol u really dont know anything about cars. congrats you can read on forums... have u ever picked up a block and just the block of just an rb20? no? lol i could pick up an sr with everything on accept the trans by myself and move it around. but an rb20 takes at least 3 guys to maneuver it from one corner to the next. its almost 600lbs. now as it is for the vid. a guide could be loose. if thats not the problem then its timing. nice try tho :D and your so cute when your mad. hehe

  • So wut its 600 pounds its not causing the worst weight shift in the world. It'd still run nicely. who said i read a forum? You don't know me. If it was timing it wouldn't rev that well and probably wouldn't turn over unassisted. It may not be a rod but it most certainly isn't the chain moving around. Wow only a complete faggit would say some gay ass shit like that lolz.

  • are you a fucking JOKE?!?!??!! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA! you are one of the dumbest ppl i know. rb20det is a jdm motor u dumbfuck and so is an sr20det and rb25 and 26. its just a chain guide in the video. tension the chain more bro. thats it.

  • rb26det is JDM to dumbass and most JDM motors people buy are damaged already a real good condition JDM motor isn't bad at all it's actually better than normal engines in american cars

  • My nifiniti g20t did the same and one day I got a blown out engine for reving to 6000 rpm

  • rod knoc kiddo ....sorri

  • sounds like its comin from the head tho. rod knock is a lot more lower?

  • it sounds like it's from the heads like cams or something

  • Dude, thats bearings! You ran your engine too low on oil!

  • Let me guess, thats about 1800-2200 rpm eh?!

  • no my sr did the same thing on the down pipe off the turbo by the tranie there is a bracket that did not come with mine and it made the same noice its not a bairing trust me find that bracket it goes from the down pipe to trans bolts it cost only 15. bucks trust me

  • That sounds like disappointment. I agree with last post , spun rod bearing. Rebuilt it like the six million dollar man.rebuilt it ,make it better and stronger and faster.

  • connecting rod bearing failed check oil pressure to confirm

  • connecting rod bearing failed check oil pressure to confirm

  • Haha my friends ca18det does the same shit, we were on a cruise and when we drove trough a tunnel (and reved it ofc.) we heard it, and pulled over and checked the oil: LOW, and earlier that day we kinda gave it a hard time on the motorway, so i told him that this was IT, new bigend's.. but the other guys was all like " oh its just an exhaust over rattling, bla bla.."

  • *Cover

  • bottom end bearing

its spun a big end bruzzz

  • time for a rebuild

  • check your timing tensiorner

  • is nothing if you just got your sr20 is knocking beacuse the engine has been sitting for a while with out use well, your can take the valve cover off, then lube all the dry parts that you can see, not with oil but with lucas "an oil supplement, my guess is that your seal are dry up also the lifters as well, and use higher oct gas like premium.

  • your missing a screw on the valve cover and its vibrating...lol. seriously though yes its time to rebuild. dont start it anymore.

  • is it making boost correctly??

  • ppls say that sr20 from jdm is, crap? but idk

  • that engine knock basiclly time to rebuild!!

  • i wouldn't keep running this engine. it'll cause you more problems.

  • bottom end got same shit

  • if you havent fixed it by now, then most likely yes, its rod knock. Basically new rod bearings and you might have to either get new rods/crank, or have them machined. It depends on how bad it really got in there. If you can do it yourself its not really all that bad. Alot of work but not very hard work if you know what to do.

  • Always remember to put oil in there man that low knock is a valve... Not in all cases but It may be a rebuild for this puppy... £400? But... like I said Cheese and milk.

  • Thats why you rebuild a crate engine before running it and why you run 91 octane in the SR20DET thats what its meant to run from the factory.

  • time to pull the motor man. i just got done with mine, after i spun a bearing

  • No you are all wrong... you see the real problem here is that it's a sr20det.

  • the same happened to my 96 zenki.. your motor is done... you have to rebuilt that motor. metal pieces are just fucking up the internals of the motor the more u rev it like that

  • oh my put new bearings in your bottom end :(

  • cmon guys, youare giving this guy more trouble than he has, by just saying, hey its rod knock.. but theres no progress in that.. just makes you look silly.. i meean at least try to explain what is that and how can he fix it.. i dont cuz i dont know either.. i could just say its rod knock by seeing that everyone says so.. but no..

  • All lies, Carter is probably the dent, if not, open the letter, and you discover

missing in this lubrificacao launch adjust

  • Thats a rod knock

  • ROD KNOCK!!!!!!!!

  • Its knocking. Put higher octane gas in it.

  • rod knock

  • sorry bro thats piston knock, for sure, that is way bummers, had that with my ka, not until the engine revs higher does it become more audible just like what you did, dang- REBUILD!

  • did you figure out you problem because mine is doing that now to and im geting a little bit worried lol

  • rod knock for sure, my mr2 was doing that and it didn't do it all the time, thought it wasnt because it didnt do it all the time and then one day a rod cap went flying halfway through my oil pan... it was a sticky situation

  • u no wat r prob is. is a red top u need a black top

  • Check the timing chain tensioners. Both the top and bottom one.

  • it sounds to me like deffinite valve train problems!!! rip that shit out and find the problem before it gets bad! i let mine go for too long and i broke a retainer, bent a valve, scarred piston, warped head, and scarred block.... FIX IT NOW!

  • get a ka its alot better sr sucks waste of time and money ka-t is the way to go add a turbo get it tunned same as the sr20 in power thats the only diffrence sr has a turbo and its factory tuned meaning you sr with no turbo : ) is trash sr20de vs ka24de ka for the win sr20det vs ka24det ka for the win again

  • my friends s13 was doing that but it was also leaking oil then a few days later it spun a bearing

    rebuild that shit bro

  • my 1993 silvia S13 SR20 was making the same sound, took it to the mechanic, he said it was due to low oil pressure or somthing, but yeah i've gotta get a hole new engine. -.-

Anyone know a good cheap jap import engine site?

  • big end knock :)

  • if it was rod knock it would be doing it all the time

  • rod nock

  • sounds like bottom end bearing....

  • i know exactly what your problem is......its an SR.dump that shit and turbo a KAD.

  • Fuck You SR for life JK their both good engines so don't diss on the SR they both have teir ups and downs

  • its the timing chain guide, take it off... its not needed, plus it sounds nicer without it =P( no more rattle that is)

  • rod knock's a bitck

  • ROCKER ARM ...HAppened to me get rocker arm stoppers

  • hahahahahahahahahaha dude i just blew up my KA this past wednesday, and it sound it just like that b4 it die, T_T anyways, going with a S13 black top. good luck with your sr

  • sounds like a loose rocker arm to me

thats def in the head. when my rocker arm came off it did the exact same thing. 5 minutes later i had a rod through the block. Miss any shifts lately? if u have no RAS then def pull of the VC and check the rocker arms

  • definately a rod.. happened to me on my 87 accord lxi.. dont run it too much til you get it fixed.. unless you want a rod through the block or damaged head

  • bottom end bearing mate happend to me

    :(

  • bottom end bearing mate

  • rod knock or broken rocker arm

  • its a bottom end bearing probably collapsed due to heat or low oil

  • i think your pistons are stuffed

  • ya te lo echaste,,esos motores yo les pongo las piezas internas dañadas,,

  • That sounds like a rod to me.

  • My bad, thats actually the timing chain tensioner, Im fixing mine right now actually.

  • Yes, the chain stretched a little, and the tentioner is pushed all the way out, and it is still loose enough to smack the upper chain guide. thus is the sound your hearing. Im gonna drive mine without the gide for a little bit i suppose wile i wait for the full kit to come.

  • once again, not a big deal. Its a stuck lifter. They are hydraulic. So get a full set from nissan for about 350 bucks, and throw them in.

  • metales biela y bancada.esos yo los reparon in monterrey..repair in monterrey

  • I know what the problem is:

    Its an SR20DET

    SR20DET = they've all been thrashed shitless

  • well that noise is could be one of 4-5 things. 1 timming chain needs replacing 2 need new chain tensioner 3 rocker spacers are missing, 4 lower oil pressure or 5 bad lifters. its not a rod. i went threw the hole thing you can only here it on top end. besides if it was a rod you would here it when it idles.

  • its a rod!!!

it happened to my last car!!

if you run it too hard it will blow out the oil pan!!! believe me i know!!

dont run it until you fix it!!

    or get a new engine!

  • who's there, SR, SR who, SR that broke into the 20 pieces

  • Knock Knock!!

  • thats a big end bearing bro thats wat happend to mine

  • well all the ppl could b right but that sounds like ur rocker arm if u tach it out all the time thats wat it is cause they had a problem with the rockers buy some solid rockers try it n c

  • spun rod bearing.

  • wow, you people are clueless. its most likely the timing chain guard. take off your valve cover and its two 12mm bolts. you dont need it and this is a common issue.

  • wow thats def not the chain.

  • lol, maybe on a fucken KA24

  • oil + water bad mixture probably is a broken head gasket or seal so the water of the radiator is mixing with the oil in mexico we call that DESVIELADO

  • sounds like bottom end, or no oil?

  • looks like its time for a rebuild bud.

  • My car sounds the same. So did he ever find out what was the problem? I pulled my oil pan and there was no metal in it. I just got the engine from enginelandinc and thats how it sounds. I am hoping its the cheap gas I have in the tank.

  • they do get a knocking sound if you use antyhing but premium fuel... mine will not run without premium its just how the sr20 is

  • thats way to loud to be caused by running the wrong fuel.. that sounds like you have spun a bearing.

  • it might be a knock from rod saying dont run me...

  • that siynds like a rod knocking, you probably have a spun rod bearing. drop the oil pan and if you see metal in the oil that would be the chewed up bearing, and grap the rods and if one can move or shake or budge it then that is the one with the bad bearing. happened on my older tsi when it crank walked and i had to get it rebuilt

  • time to take the engine out :) you need to give it an overhaul. Always fun... unless you just bought it and swapped it... then I would bitch at who I bought it from!

  • do not run an engine if there is a internal problem with it!

  • rod knock?
